@nc – no such ordinance in my little town either.

Purposefully choosing to violate the law, whether it be flying flags or illegally blocking private business with groups of union protestors, is flouting the legal system – one is not less “unlawful” than the other.

I agree the system is broken but changes must be made by following the correct procedures – not with angry & destructive mobs. In this case, addressing the ordinance and concerns of the community during the city council meeting is the place to start. If, after hearing the public’s input, the council decides to leave the ordinance “as is” the next steps could be a letter writing campaign, legal peaceful protests, investigation into the city charter & by-laws. Perhaps they (she) might find procedural regulations – ie: if 70% of the citizens request a special election (vote) to change the ordinance and win that vote, the council’s decision becomes null & void. And yes, I do know of many city governments with those stipulations.

Complaining amongst themselves will not change anything. The citizens need to step up and run for office themselves or support others on the ballot & turn out in numbers for the next election. Vote the council members out. Unfortunately, government at the local level is often ignored – very few take the time to vote, vet the candidates or pay attention to the issues.

Taking back our country must begin at home and push upward – the county, the state, the federal rep

To M. Downey. Happy Mothers Day.Kudo’s to you and your sons for being true citizens and Patriots. of this Great Country. Also thanks to Her local American Legion for defending her rights. We should send any patriotic flags or other symbols of the country to her to be displayed at her business as she sees fit. Locals and visitors should all support her business. And if she has a mind to I think she would be a shoe in for city manager of that community. The statement the current manager issued in this matter shows just how much intellectual and logical vacuity is present in so many of our elected “leaders”.

We, as Americans, need to demand that the press cover the City council here. Shine some light on the local politicians and citizens that seek to control the rights of others. In the grand scheme, you will find that World Governance is sneaking around your State and Federal governments to our mush-minded local politicians: It is time REAL patriots get involved in your own local government!

I’m tired of such ordinances. I’m tired of some little local thugs deciding they can tell people whether they can wave a flag, or how many or how large, and I’m tired of them telling folks how many trees and shrubs they must have, and I’m tired of the whole sickening mess. City counsels around this country are out of control. Completely.

    They over-tax, under-serve, over-regulate, and under-deliver.

There are two routes we can take. 1. global socialistic government – or – 2. reclaim america. the constitution is eloquently and succinctly written and it’s relevance in ordering our lives is just as applicable now as when it was written. we either defend the constitution AS WRITTEN in toto or we join the crowd in route #1. the natural born citizen clause of the us constitution is being amended by fiat, so i guess it’s route #1.

Put out a jar to pay for the city ordinance fines and just keep ALL of the flags flying, then put out flyers with the names, addresses, fax#’s, telco#’s and email addresss for the city counsel and tell people to bombard them to change the city code, or issue the restaurant a “waiver” — (hey if you can get a waiver for Obamacare, why not patriotism) and allow the flags to fly…. fight back, fight hard, but always fight legally….

I think everyone within reasonable driving distance should go to her place. Stop on the way and buy a couple of those little flags like you get at a July 4th parade. Have a meal in the restaurant and then stick your flags in the ground out front. Surround the building with flags. Then tell the city council to pound sand.

I hope that this publicity makes her business go thru the roof! The city council is worried that the “American flag will become too comercialized”?!? Do you have to be completely stupid in order to serve on the city council??? I wonder what the law would be if those six flags were “Gay Pride” flags? I bet that you wouldn’t hear a peep from the city council on that one…….

Actually if they were Gay Pride flags, the ACLU would be suing the city for a few million dollars by now. But since they are patriotic flags, the ACLU will probably try and block the city from changing the law to accommodate her display and urge the police to arrest her.

That last line stumped me too.
If the reason is that they fear the American flag would become too commercialized then the ordinance should read no more than 3 American flags (still think that would be a ridiculous rule, but TRYING to follow their logic). She does not have more than 3 AMERICAN flags anyway. The community needs to demand that the ordinance is changed, maybe it should read that ALL AMERICANS MUST fly a minimum of 3 American flags.

Instead of everybody sitting on the sidelines and bitching, why don’t you actually participate in the governing process? Run for office, do something about it instead of quarterbacking from your desktop. If you don’t like an ordinance they make a motion to overturn it, this is still a representative democracy and you can make a difference – so do it.

I remember after 9/11, the median on highway 19 had an Ameircan flag every 10 or 15 feet for over a mile. I always thought the city had put them up. There were probably over 500 flags. Guys-
      This story is just silly.
There is nobody on the council that doesn’t want the lady to have the flags.
It’s just another example of the Nanny State that this country has become.
I am sure that ten years ago – some bean counter passed a law that stated that THREE was the maximum flags a Wall Mart or a J C Penny could have in front of their store for advertising.
It just stuck and here we pay the price for having government stick their nose into every detail of our lives.
You know some government schmuck who needs to justify his job is planning on introducing a new law they they deem “good for you” (because after all, we are too stupid to take care of ourselves) – like “how many times can a household flush the toilet – or how many pets you can have – or how far away from work you can live – or what store you can buy from – or how many rocks you can use to stone the infidels – (too far?) – sorry.

I just looked up the Taste of Philly Sub Shop in Crystal River, FL. I talked with the Lady and gave her my patriotic support. I WILL be traveling up there this week to do it in person and eat a Philly cheese.

Please witht the “drafting” of Allen West already. Yes, he is a good man, but if he does not have the desire to pull the country out of the ditch, then let him be. You cannot “draft” a person for the job of POTUS. He has to have the calling. Apparently, he does not.

You don’t change rules by breaking them then causing a stir. That’s wrong, and she is wrong in how she’s doing it. Me personally, I think they should increase the speed limit, so can everyone break the law with me?

This goes to the very point in a “Civics” discussion on another post….

Everyone wants Government whether Local, State, or Federal to “Nanny” us…. To “regulate” us, to “create” perfect little Fedrabots….

By allowing so much power in Government, whether local, State, or Federal we have lost Liberty, the freedom of choice, wether it be to be dumb as a rock, fly 8000 flags or eat double fried pie…It is shameful…

I’m sorry, as much as I love flying our flag, if WE the PEOPLE gave Government, local in this example, the POWER to REGULATE these things, then WE the PEOPLE have to adhere to the POWERS regulations….Otherwise one is being unlawful!

Take back the power by getting in local office and restoring private property principles…Eliminate the Government Nanny WE created and stay consistent….WAKE UP, know what your views are and write them down to remind yourself….

Who was the moron who cited her? He couldn’t have just given her a warning until the city could amend ths stupid law. God Bless her and we should all take a trip to her business and support her and thank her for her sons serving this great country. If you do go, make sure to take a flag with you. I would go, however I am currently in the middle-east! But when I get back to the states I will take a trip to see her and thank her for her support.

One can NEVER fly too many American flags! As long as a person hangs them respectfully (not dragging on the ground, etc.) the more, the better! What is wrong with these people?

      ……
When I think about what’s wrong in America,
      I don’t think:
      Too many flags.
      To many Christians.
Too many families with a mom and dad.
      Too many working folks.
      Too many farmers.
      Too many honest citizens.

The Marxists will never stop trying,
we must shout (vote) them out.
