Patti LaBelle Crew: Two Members Finally Charged With Assaulting West Point Cadet

In June The Blaze reported about a West Point cadet who was suing Patti LaBelle’s bodyguards for beating him in the parking lot at Bush International Airport in Houston.

According to reports, assault charges have now been filed against two members of LaBelle’s entourage in connection with the incident. In addition, King is suing LaBelle and she is countersuing.

ABC News reports:

It was Patti LaBelle’s son, Zuri Edwards, who originally said he was the victim in this incident at Bush Intercontinental Airport, but Houston police are not buying that now. In court documents, Edwards is described as an instigator, while LaBelle’s hairdresser and bodyguard are charged with assault.

It all came down to the surveillance video we showed you a few weeks ago. In the footage, you can see West Point cadet Richard King on his cell phone near LaBelle’s luggage and car outside Terminal C at IAH. Her son, who’s also her driver, bumps King with his chest, then the bodyguard Efrem Holmes hits King. According to court documents, both Holmes and LaBelle’s hairdresser, Norma Harris, 63, then pushed King, causing him to fall into a concrete pillar and suffer a head injury.

Because of the original claims that King was the aggressor, West Point, which was reportedly tipped off by HPD, suspended King. He is now awaiting deployment orders.

HPD reportedly told ABC that internal affairs is currently  investigated the actions by police officers. ABC also reports that two officers were seen taking photographs with LaBelle inches away from King’s blood.

    I hope king sues the hell out of these gorillas. I also hope he gets a ton of cash from the stuck up diva Labelle. And for the crooked HPD cops that were taking pics with Labelle, instead of doing their job… well, they must be Obama voters. I say charged them with some form of criminal neglect of duty and then fire them.

      @SEABEE, I always believe and trust SEABEES. That’s a good indication of character. As for the witch Labelle, she & her family & friends are the liars. You can see what happened in the photos. Even me, when I’m on the phone, everything else is oblivious because I’m concentrating on my conversation which is what this Cadet was doing. They were just mad because they wanted his space and him to get out of it. Reinstate him to West Point, post haste, you sorry believers of anyone who made a career of stepping on others because they think they’re so dam important.

    About time these thugs faced the music. What really ticks me off, though, is how West Point just bailed on their man from the get go. They better hustle to reinstate this lad or there‘s going to be a host of ghosts from the long grey line rise up and get ’em.

      I only hope this young man who was innocently using his cell phone while waiting for a ride gets his justification from this group of thugs. Hope he also gets re-instated to West Point. This innocent incident with LaBelle has cost him a great career. I hope the courts side with him instead of fawning all over LaBelle like the security officers did at the airport. Patty Labelle can be flushed in toilet for all I care about her. Actually intending to counter sue says what kind of person she is. Pizz on her.

      I made my comment about race after reading a good deal of comments that interjected race into this incident. The original story stated the man was standing too close to her luggage, and refused to move after being ASKED. Only AFTER the original story are people claiming that Patti said the man called her a racial slur.

      Nobody has been able to “call me” on anything, because I haven’t accused anyone of being racist except based on their OWN comments, not their responses to my comments. You’re illiterate.

      BTW, I never directly accused anyone of being racist. I just made a statement and all the GUILTY respond because they resemble the remark.

      I didn’t ask if two wrongs made a right. I asked him how he felt about that case. It was a rhtetorical question. I know the answer.

      I don’t see where race came into this incident at all. The guy got hurt by bodyguards. I didn’t hear “white boy” or “get out of here, hunky”, or anything like that. They also were not charged with a hate crime (which is garbage to me anyway, a crime is a crime).

      The only “obviously racist” aspect I see here, is RACISTS interjecting RACISM into an incident that has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. I don’t expect you to preface your comments with anything. I don’t need a preface. All I have to do is call it as it is.

      The only people injecting race into this story is the PEANUT GALLERY (composed of racists who’re always foaming at the mouth over every single incident that implicates a black person).

      Patti Labelle isn’t a damn racist, and her bodyguards aren’t racist just because the victim is a WHITE West Point Cadet, and people like their Hero Worship.

      Only RACISTS have injected race into this issue.

    GOOD! labelle and her thugs are clearly to blame. just look at the video. even even king had said something, the fact is on the video they hit first.. the cops who handled the case need to be suspended without pay. it was idiotic how they handled it, taking pictures, very unprofessional. i say only suspended because i want to show them a little more courtesy than they did him, and hope that their punishment actually teaches them some profesionality.

      Is the “Reply” actually fixed? I hope King gets tons of money. But West Pointe kinda jumped the gun didn’t they? They didn’t even wait to hear his side of the story or see the tape and just set him up for deployment.
      I pray he is OK and is safe while he is deployed. It didn’t sound like they were going to do anything to her son for starting it did it? Sue them for bunches and Fire the Police that were more interested in getting their pictures with her than taking care of King and Investigating.

      Now WEST POINT needs to do the right thing and re-instate him. He has not been charged with anything and the others have. Since he has not been charged he should NOT have to wait .. and possibly be deployed before he can get justice.

      I am so sick of the thuggery in this country ESPECIALLY since 2008 when it seems to have escalated into what we are now seeing!
