Paul: My Only Problem With Santorum Attack Ad Was That ‘I Couldn’t Get All the Things in I Wanted to Say’

During the Fox News/Wall Street Journal debate Monday evening, Texas Congressman Ron Paul was questioned about the use of attack ads in campaigns. When asked if such tactics should end, Paul said, “They should be abandoned if you’re not telling the truth, but if you’re exposing a voting record, I think it’s quite proper.”
He then described his only gripe about the attack ad he used against rival Rick Santorum, saying “I only had one problem: I couldn’t get all the things in I wanted to say in one minute.”
Santorum pointed out, however, that Paul’s ads quote Left-wing organizations and that “of course Left-wing organizations say a lot of bad things about me. I would expect them. I wear that as a badge of honor, not something that I’m ashamed of.”

The fact is, Rick Santorum does have a long history of supporting gun control.
In the 90s, he voted to support the Lautenberg Gun Ban, which stripped law-abiding gun owners of their Second Amendment rights for life, simply because they spanked their children.
He voted for a bill in 1999 disguised as an attempt to increase penalties on drug traffickers with guns… but it also included a provision to require federal background checks at gun shows.
And then he voted with gun-controlling Democrats Dianne Fienstein and Frank Lautenberg to mandate locks on handguns in 2005.
He also supported and openly campaigned for anti-gun New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman.

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 10:21amAs Ron Paul says: “You have two choices. Either you can work your way out of this, or you wait until it collapses and you have to rebuild it.”
A primary vote for either Santorum, Romney or Gingrich is a vote for waiting, just as surely as a vote for Obama in 2008 was. Neither Gingrich nor Romney has even the faintest grasp of the nature or the extent of the problems presently facing the nation. Neither Gingrich nor Romney will do anything in office, anything at all, to address these problems. They will instead do precisely as various presidents named Bush, Obama and Clinton have done in attempting to buy more time, and thereby exacerbating the situation when no more time can be bought.
Republicans now have two choices. They can either put forward Ron Paul as a candidate who is committed to address the financial and economic problems facing the nation, or they can put forward a candidate who will do little more than ensure Republicans bear the blame for the economic collapse of the country.

The Republican National Committee pulled a dirty trick on Paul. According to the Times, Paul was running for Congress against fellow Republican Greg Laughlin, whom he eventually defeated in a runoff. During the campaign, an Austin marketing company called people and asked respondents who favored Paul if they would still support him knowing that he was in favor of legalizing drugs, pornography and prostitution. The real truth, the Times noted, was this: “Dr. Paul said he only favored repeal of Federal laws on drugs, pornography and prostitution, leaving states to prohibit them.”

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 9:43amI love Ron Paul’s foreign policy — if a war is needed, fight it, win it, get it over — use the letters of reprisal to avoid many wars:
Ron Paul’s War:
Dr. Paul supports using “letters of marque and reprisal.”
These are, in effect, licenses to private parties to carry out acts of war. We used them against the Barbary pirates. Almost immediately after the attack on the World Trade Center, Dr. Paul introduced in the 107th Congress H.R. 2076, called the September 11 Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001, authorizing holders of the letters to go after bin Laden and other Al Qaeda leaders and seize them and their property. He also voted to give President Bush authority to use the military to go after Al Qaeda, but he has been pressing for letters of marque ever since.
Dr. Paul’s bill would have covered not only past attacks but any “planned future air piratical aggressions and depredations” against us. It would have given the president discretion to pay up to $40 billion in what were, in effect, bounties for the “capture, alive or dead, of Osama bin Laden or any other al Qaeda conspirator responsible for the act of air piracy upon the United States on September 11, 2001.”
Dr. Paul said that one thing he wanted as to avoid a trillion dollar expedition when there was a simpler, constitutional approach of bringing the war to our enemy.

First, having the Enemy Expatriation Act to compliment the NDAA debunks the part where he said “a U.S. citizen who is detained”. Secondly, having the right to ask for a lawyer to appeal their case before a federal court isn‘t the way it’s supposed to work, especially if they can simply say no like you hear J. I support someone who will stop taxing my income, I have paid taxes for 44 years of working for a living. What do I have for those taxes to the Fed? Obammy. Thank you for linking that outstanding article by Laurence Vance. Anyone who is even entertaining the idea of supporting Santorum should read it.
I’m issuing a challenge to any Santorum supporter to read that article and then come back to The Blaze and tell us why Vance is wrong about Santorum.
And don’t forget that Santorum voted for government subsidizing Planned Parenthood and he also campaigned for pro-abortion candidates like Arlen Specter.

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 11:00amVery juvenile to write in a candidate? Well, that‘s what Mark Levin said he’d do if Paul is nominated, so let‘s get off our high horse saying it’s the Paul people who are closed-minded and will only support one guy. When you turn the question back on the establishment, some will say they’d vote for Paul, but others either dodge the question by confidently declaring Paul won‘t be the nominee or like Levin they say they’d choose write-in over Paul.
As for Paul supporters voting for Gingrich, that will never happen. And don’t blame us, either. Newt decided early on that he was going to be very dismissive and disrespectful to Congressman Paul. He does so at his own peril both in this campaign and in the general if he gets nominated because nothing ****** off us Paul supporters more than complete disrespect for our candidate. I would sooner get behind Romney than Gingrich. Both are liberals, but at least Romney treats RP and his supporters with some respect. When Gingrich attacks Paul, he’s attacking his message, he’s attacking the message of liberty and small government. He thumbs his nose at those of us who support Paul. He looks like the quintessential elitist frowning down on us little people.
I have a feeling that if Romney gets nominated, Rand Paul will be his VP choice and RP supporters will enthusiastically unite behind that ticket. In the meantime, we’re fighting tooth and nail to get Ron Paul to the top of the ticket.
