Paul Ryan on Obama: He‘s ’Sowing Social Unrest’

In a speech given at the Heritage Foundation Wednesday morning, Paul Ryan said Obama’s method of rallying public support for his $447 billion jobs package was “sowing social unrest and class resentment” and could be “just as damaging as his misguided policies,” reports Politico.
As Business Insider points out, Paul Ryan used to be the politician that Obama liked to use “as an example of the type of policy-minded Republican he could work with.” However, the feelings were not reciprocated Wednesday morning when Ryan made it very that he believes the president is stoking an atmosphere of division that is making working together all but impossible.
“Instead of working together where we agree, the president has opted for divisive rhetoric and the broken politics of the past,” Ryan said before a crowd at The Heritage foundation. “He is going from town to town, impugning the motives of Republicans, setting up straw men and scapegoats, and engaging in intellectually lazy arguments, as he tries to build support for punitive tax hikes on job creators.”
The “budget wonk” went on to accuse President Obama of using “class-based rhetoric” in his re-election campaign, Politico reports. Obama’s tactics, Ryan said, make “America weaker, not stronger.”
“Instead of appealing to the hope and optimism that were the hallmarks of his first campaign, he has launched his second campaign by preying on the emotions of fear, envy, and resentment,” Ryan added.
“This has the potential to be just as damaging as his misguided policies. Sowing social unrest and class resentment makes America weaker, not stronger. Pitting one group against another only distracts us from the true sources of inequity in this country – corporate welfare that enriches the powerful, and empty promises that betray the powerless,” Ryan added.
“It’s disappointing that this President’s actions have exacerbated this form of class warfare in so many ways,” Politico quotes Ryan saying.
Before Ryan officially made these comments, Hotair‘s Ed Morrisey took the opportunity to reexamine one of the claims made by the White House that some have labeled as “class warfare.”
“Obama promised that his initial plan in 2009 would help up to 9 million homeowners stave off foreclosure, but it’s actually only helped less than a million,” Morrisey writes.
Watch the Wolf Blitzer interview where he takes Jay Carney to task on the president’s claim (h/t Hotair):
This led Morrisey to scrutinize the president’s latest proposal:
Just to be clear, Obama’s new [economic] plan does not help people who are facing foreclosure, since one of its prerequisites is that homeowners cannot have missed more than one payment in the last twelve months and must be caught up on their payments.
It will help people whose mortgages exceed their equity by simply stretching out the mortgages for a longer period, allowing them to pay less each month on the mortgage — and supposedly that will get them to spend an extra hundred dollars or so a month and boost the economy.
It’s the Cash for Clunkers approach again, only with some ersatz class-warfare rhetoric tossed in, even though this isn’t helping anyone keep their house at all [emphasis added].
It would appear that Ryan and Morrisey are in agreement in regards to the president’s “fuzzy math” proposals–including the one where he has called on the wealthy to pay their “fair share”in income in taxes.
“According to the President’s logic, we should give up on trying to reform our tax code to grow the economy and get more revenues that way,” Ryan said. “Instead, these goals are taking a backseat to the President’s misguided understanding of fairness.”
“The president’s political math is a muddled mix of false accusations and false choices,” he added. “The actual math is apolitical: By the time my kids are my age, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projects, the size of government will be double what it is today.”

What’s happening in and to the United States now, these protests, the market, barry’d actions, the athiests, class warfare is and was the progressive plan from the beginning. In order to advance the progressive agenda, they had to manufacture this atmosphere. The more chaos, the more disfunction, the better it is for their agenda. If people were paying attention, one would have seen this being organized and implemented the first 3 months of barry’s unleadership. It doesn’t surprise me what is happening – and unfortunately, it’s going to get much, much worse.

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 9:23amPaul Ryan has done exactly what the republicans must continue to do throughout the next 13 months. He took it to Obama and refuted the latter’s statements re. how his plans are good for America. In effect he called him out. Other republican leaders must follow his lead and take it to Obama. Effective speakers would include but not be limited to the following: Rubio, West, DeMint, Christie and all of the republican contenders for the presidency. National organizations must get on board as well. When they have their national conventions, the above republican speakers should be on their short list to address their membership. It is time to take our country back from those with misguided political philosophies. Communism and socialism has been ineffective throughout human history. Rich individuals who seek to ruin us through their support of one world government must also be called out. The free enterprise system, warts and all, is the way to go.

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 9:15amEverything Obama does is focused on his re-election. He spends every waking moment on this. Taxpayers are paying this dictator to campaign at our expense. He is simply refusing to do his job as the President. His so called Job‘s act is a campaign gimmick that his own Democratic Senate can’t pass. He was hoping to use his “jobs act” to show that the Republican controlled Congress is refusing to allow for job growth but that is going to be a hard sell when his own Senate won’t pass it along to the Congress.
Report Post »Obama being the first “African-American” President will set race relations back decades because of his divisive approach to governing. He is pitting Blacks against Whites, Mexicans against Whites, Jews against Christians, Poor against Rich. Democrat against Republican.
Roland Reagan was such a great president because he managed to bring the country together. Obama is the most divisive President in history and he is not done yet. Things will get much, much worse.

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 11:28amAgreed with every word.
However, I am not 100% sure there will be an election. In my way of thinking, the harm barry has already put on this country and the people of this country, the discontent he is and has organized, when things really become uncontrolable and revolutionary in a civil unrest mode, there are ways to post-phone elections, thus keeping the holder of the office there. There needs to be a crisis and from what I see, everything will be festering a 2, 3, 4 months prior to the elections. A perfect time for him to call for a state of emergency or whatever.
The reason I state this: Look at his demeanor. He dosen’t care about too much of anything. He’s identifying and siding himself as a proponet of class warfare. And if you look at the occupiers, the anti-christian movements, the anti-capitalist movement, the union movement, and all the rest of the anti-american movements, these people don’t care. And people that don’t care – are uncontrollable and dangerous. The good thing, 99% of them are cowards when it comes to the fight.

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 9:03amTo listen to someone speak using facts and sane ideas, not the crazy, emotional rhetoric repeated ad nauseam without accuracy or thought, is so calming and refreshing. Truth always brings clarity, peace, understanding and a starting point to rebuild. Propaganda (lies) produces fear, dread, confusion, and kills all hope for change. Our president either needs to start speaking with honesty and transparancy or we need to look closely at him and ascertain if the truth is even in him.

This so-called class warfare is in Obama’s best interest politically. Without antagonism between sides, he stands no chance of reelection. His cowardly lead-from-behind posture appeals to occupiers as he attempts to curry favor with them while alienating the majority of good God-fearing Americans.

Do people not care about reality any more? Obama try unicorns, rainbows, pennies from Heaven, money trees, blue skys and a welfare check for everyone. Posted on October 27, 2011 at 1:47amI don’t understand the part where the homeowner now has an extra hundred dollars a month to spend which allegedly stimulates the economy. The government has to take the hundred dollars from someone first or print it, so where did the government get the hundred dollars from? Was $40 borrowed from the Chinese? Car owners are upside down on their car payments as soon as they leave the lot. The present worth of all future car payments no longer equals the present worth of the car. Why doesn’t the government organize a program to compensate car owners for the lost value of their car? Classic Keynesian Economics says that the government should spend to prop up demand, but this housing plan does not change the level of demand in any way that I can see. If the government was not involved and the owner was still able to make the payments then the mortgage company would get the $100 dollars and spend it rather than the home owner. I can see the local government winning here since the mortgage company is likely to invest the money and avoid paying the sales taxes that the owner might pay at the Walmart. This is another bail out for making a bad investment. The government is either investing in a bad investment or trying to say,” I’m sorry Barney Frank messed you up. “

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 12:37amFrom this speech and Marco Rubio’s, I believe we can see the makings of future candidates who understand what is necessary to return our nation to its greatness. But we have to get someone in the W.H. next year who can start the ball rolling, first. Who that is, is difficult to determine at this early stage of the campaign, but I believe it’s gradually narrowing as the weeks & months roll along. I just hope the conservative “establishment” doesn’t shove the candidate down our collective throats; like Karl Rove appears to be attempting recently.
