PBS Cuts Anti-Palin ‘Rape Kit’ and Lesbian Jokes From Fey Award Speech

When popular comedian, and Sarah Palin impersonator, Tina Fey won the Mark Twain Prize for Humor last week, she made sure to crack a joke about Palin during the acceptance speech. But as it turns out, an editing job by PBS  turned what was more of a roundhouse kick into a love tap.

The Palin joke originally aired by PBS on Sunday night went like this:

I would be a liar and an idiot if I didn’t thank Sarah Palin for helping get me here tonight. My partial resemblance and her crazy voice are the two luckiest things that ever happened to me. All kidding aside, I’m so proud to represent American humor, I am proud to be an American, and I am proud to make my home in the ‘not real’ America. And I am most proud that during trying times, like an orange [terror] alert, a bad economy or a contentious election, that we as a nation retain our sense of humor.

You can see the way the joke originally aired below:

But according to full video of the event, there’s a chunk missing after the marshmallow Palin joke (between the second and third sentence in the transcript above). Newsbusters brings us the part PBS chopped:

And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women [applause before the joke kicks in] — except, of course, those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape kit and stuff,” Fey said. “But for everybody else, it’s a win-win — Unless you’re a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years – whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us — unless you believe in evolution. You know — actually, I take it back. The whole thing’s a disaster.

The “rape kit,“ ”gay woman,“ and ”evolution” jokes got cut.

The Washington Post, which first broke the story, talked with one of the event’s executive producers about the editing. According to him, PBS was not trying to shelter the comedian from criticism, nor was it trying to censor the jokes.

“It was not a political decision,” said Peter Kaminsky. “We had zero problems with anything she said.” But because the 90-minute show ran about 19 minutes long during last Tuesday’s taping, “We took a lot out,” he said. “We snipped from everyone.”

You can watch the full edited version of the show, as well as the full unedited version of Fey’s speech, on the PBS website.

Americans grow weary of the political meddling of entertainers and their propaganda-inspired “comedy acts.” It is a tired, old-fashioned conversation from the 1990s and American sensibilities have moved on to more important things like re-founding the nation.

Many of these empty-vessel entertainers glom onto whatever will make them money and get them attention. Soon, now that the commie power-brokers are being run out of tinsel-town, the clowns will entertain us with patriotic fare. It is all so predictable.

Odd to me how it is OK to capitalize on the resemblance Fey has to Sarah Palin and make lots of money but she truly has no respect for her morals or values, just the almighty $$$$, those Libs, and they want people to believe “they” are the good guys, they are the charitable ones, unless, of course the target is a Republican or Pro Life Conservative. Why does being pro life mean pro rape???? But yet pro abortion doesn’t mean pro-murder???????

Fey was not saying that being pro-life is like being pro rape. She was referencing the fact that while Palin was mayor of wasilla, the town would charge sexual assault and rape victims or their insurers the cost of the rape exam kit.

They cut it out not because the jokes were offensive but because they just plain sucked. Even the leftards could barely manage a chuckle. A funny joke would be: A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says, “why the long face?” Now that is funny.

Wonder what Mark Twain might say about this.

    “There is no character,
    howsoever good and fine,
but it can be destroyed by ridicule,
    howsoever poor and witless.
    Observe the ass, for instance:
    his character is about perfect,
he is the choicest spirit among all the humbler animals,
yet see what ridicule has brought him to.
Instead of feeling complimented when we are called an ass, we are left in doubt.”

it is entirely folly on my part to try and even talk about this subject on this site, but the evidence for evolution is as overwhelming as any other basic idea in science.

there is no missing link. the phrase itself is a misnomer based on an understanding of evolution that is over a century old and doesn’t fit with what we know about evolution today.

also, i could point to any number of different forms of proof but a pretty simple one is that human beings and both species of chimpanzee (regular chimps and bonobos) are 98% identical to us on a genetic level. kenneth miller (who is both a mainstream biologist and a devout catholic btw) fully accepts evolution and rejects any kind of scientific application of creationism/intelligent design.

Oh, yes, Kenneth Miller … and a youtube link to boot. I guess now the science is setlled. The fossil record shows an explosion of many diverse species around the so-called Cambrian era. We really haven’t changed that much since then. But, if there’s a youtube video, I guess that negates everything and serves as the modern day proof for any theorem. Next.

I share your frustration. Evolution deniers are a scary lot. But I’ll jump in.

Snd, show me the proof there was no evolution. Do it without citing any revealed text or mentioning any metaphysical being.

Furthermore, PROVE to me Jesus was real, he died and came back to life. Do that also with the same paremeters of the aforementioned challenge.

If you bring an idea to the table with no evidence for it whatsoever (ie religion & intelligent design) it can be negated and dismissed without giving reason also. Two can play that game.

Explain all the fossils, the dinosaurs, cromagnum man, radio carbon dating, the fact that the average human’s height has increased over the last 400 years, and explain why Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species” is false. YOu have read it right? Or were you told not to read it by someone who told you evolution was a lie?

Scary lot? You’re scared of us? God is the one you should fear, not men. You want proof that there was no “evolution”? Do you mean microevolution or macroevolution, or do you deny there is a difference? What the world observes as “evolution” is in reality variation and adaptation. Macroevolution, i.e., the changing of an organism from one genus into another over numerous generations, is unscientific, illogical, and frankly, assinine. It goes against every known biological phenomenon. Your assertion that people have gotten taller over the past 400 years is a red herring. Over the past several thousand years, humans have greatly “devolved” from their original stature potential. What “proof” do I have? Well, none that you’d likely believe, even though it is literally set in stone all around the world, e.g., The Great Pyramid, The Ruins of Greece, The Ruins of Baalbek, numerous undersea ancient monoliths…I could go on and on. I have neither the time nor concern for you to go into a lengthy discourse concerning the creation vs evolution controversy, but I will say this: the evidence for Creation is overwhelming and as plain as the DNA in the nose on your face.

The so-called “Cambrian Explosion” was the destruction, i.e., DISAPPEARANCE of billions of organisms, not the appearance or emergence of them, which is obvious considering that the fossils that you speak of are found in vast beds which indicates that they were all killed in short order. Your hatred of God has rendered you scientifically crippled.

This was on Yahoo News last month: If you don’t have a Yahoo account; this may have slipped by; If your not a fan of Harry Reid, your gonna love this!

By JOCELYN NOVECK, AP National Writer Jocelyn Noveck, Ap National Writer – Wed Oct 13, 12:56 am ET
NEW YORK – President Barack Obama has family ties to none other than Sarah Palin, according to the genealogists at Ancestry.com, a discovery the family history site made when looking for connections between political foes.
And that’s not all — Obama also is apparently related to conservative radio host and relentless critic Rush Limbaugh.
A genealogist at the Utah-based Ancestry.com, Anastasia Tyler, said Obama and Palin are 10th cousins through a common ancestor named John Smith, a pastor and early settler in 17th-century Massachusetts. Obama is related to Smith through his mother, as is Palin, Tyler said.
“Smith was against the persecution of the Quakers,” Tyler said in an interview. “He was a very socially conscious man.”
As for Limbaugh, he’s also a 10th cousin of the president — one time removed — through a common ancestor named Richmond Terrell, who Tyler said was a large landowner in Virginia, also in the 17th century. “His history is a little more nebulous,” Tyler said.
How do the genealogists come up with this stuff? Tyler said they start by picking the people they’re interested in, then examine their family trees, going back further and further into history, looking for common surnames and locations.
In the recent project, genealogists looked at the trees of Obama, Palin, and Limbaugh but also a few others, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Fox News pundits Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. They didn’t find anything much with the latter three.
{Related: How to trace your family tree online]
But former President George W. Bush? He’s related to both Obama and Palin, the site found. Obama and Bush are 11th cousins through common ancestor Samuel Hinckley, and Bush and Palin are 10th cousins one time removed, also through Hinckley — who, and stay with us now, was John Smith’s father-in-law.
Ancestry.com has revealed in the past that Obama is related to investor Warren Buffett and actor Brad Pitt. It has also found that Palin, the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate, is a distant cousin of both Franklin D. Roosevelt and Princess Diana.
The site isn’t the only source of this sort of celebrity genealogy information — in 2007, Cheney’s wife, Lynne, discovered ancestral ties between former Vice President Dick Cheney and Obama while researching her book. She said the relationship was eighth cousin, though the Chicago Sun-Times traced it as ninth cousins once removed.
And one other thing from Ancestry.com: It also found that Palin is distant cousins with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and conservative author and pundit Ann Coulter, through John Lathrop, who was exiled to the United States from England for being a pastor of an illegal independent church.

Maybe somebody should make a joke about that hair and dress… They’re awful… Maybe Tina should have mooched those off of Sarah. One snap out of five for style points.

We are forced to support this garbage with our taxes.
Without Sarah Palin, Tina Fey would be just another forgotten SNL hasbeen like…..whatshername.

Trying to save Fey from herself? We know Palin is popular … the lefty‘s were having a cow last night because Bristol didn’t get kicked off of DWTS … Palins Alaska on TLC had record watching this week…. I think America needs to know just how mean and nasty those like Fey are … NO CENSORSHIP .. let them show their true “color” (RED)!
