Peggy Noonan Schools Mika Brzezinski on Obama ‘Mischievously’ Misinforming Public About Contraceptives

During a panel discussion on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” about the growing controversy surrounding the Obama administration’s contraception mandate, co-host Mika Brzezinski took issue with Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan’s comment that the administration is “mischievously” misinforming the public on this issue.
Noonan shared her observations on exactly how the White House and the liberal community are disingenuously spinning the subject for political gain.
As the discussion began, Noonan asked host Joe Scarborough, “Do you believe that at this point of this struggle, the White House and the National Abortion Action Rights League and Planned Parenthood have decided that mischievously and for political gain they will put this whole issue and imbroglio forward as simply a disagreement on contraception? The Catholic Church is trying to take your contraception away from you? Those bad men are trying to mess up with your contraception?”

After a commercial break, Brzezinski took issue, saying, “I do want to ask you about your choice of words, ‘mischievous.’ Come on, Peggy.”
“It is political mischief.” responded Noonan.
“What?” gasped Brzezinski. “Trying to get contraceptives?”
“When you take a serious political issue and put it forward, break it apart in a way that is not true but may excite people who you think deep in your heart are sort of uninformed,” Noonan stated.

This is old news that Noonen is getting paid to drum up again. 98% of Catholic women use birth control. The vast majority of Americans, especially women, support insurance coverage of birth control, just like other prescription medicines. Nobody is trying to make political hay out of this except the right.
Catholic churches are excluded from this, which I agree with. The rest is political theater put on by the right, especially given that 28 states already have this on the books.

As I recall, most if not all require that the insurer offer companion policies for the explicit purpose of satisfying this requirement – and the choice to take the policy and the responsibility to pay for the coverage falls to the worker, not the religious group.

The Catholic Church as well as many others have a problem with paying for abortions and contraceptives. By pay for their insurance they’re still paying for them just one removed. This is not about that anyway it‘s about forcing people to capitulate to the government’s forces on morality. I would think that you as a liberal would understand where that can lead, say for example you can be gay but you can’t have physical contact with your partner because the government said so. Even better forcing a vegetarian to pay for a bloody steak they won’t eat and are repulsed by.
It’s about the systematic undermining of the Judeo-Christian belief structure in which the nation was founded. Thus undermining the very Constitution by way of the Declaration of Independence

I see didn’t see anyone point out your blatant mistake of the “98% of Catholic women use birth control” so I’ll correct you on that. First off, the study removed anyone over the age of 44. Second, the study didn’t take into account anyone who was currently pregnant or recently pregnant. Third, they took out any woman who was currently trying to get pregant or any woman who didn’t want to get pregnant and was not sexually active. In short, the Guttamacher Institute (if that is how you spell it) went OUT OF THEIR WAY to find non-practicing Catholic women for their study. I encourage you to read it for yourself.
This goes for all of you. Enough with the “98% of Catholic women use birthcontrol” bull crap. It’s simply not true.

Of course 80 year old women and babies are excluded from the statistic. You only ask women who are capable of getting pregnant and are trying to avoid pregnancy.

Many Dem‘s and Repub’s need to think most people are stupid, they need for us to be stupid, and they even try to encourage us to be stupid by repeating the same slogans over and over again like a hypnotist and the shiny gold watch. “You are getting very stupid, your brain is getting heavy, you are too tired to think, sleep, sleep… and let me take care of everything for you… there now isn’t that better… sleep, sleep.” We need to find ways to wake people up, to help them think, to encourage them to think.

Maybe because we decide to charge too little for the service or maybe because we had stamps with odd values like 43 cents. Why would there ever have been a need to print a one cent stamp. For example, it also creates alternative funding routes which don’t fall under any current laws preventing funding for abortion. At any point in time, HHS can set up one of these routes directly to Planned Parenthood or someone else and directly fund abortions. This would be perfectly legal. If Obama wins, you will see this happen.

This is clear overreach and intentional expansion of the powers of the executive office. Where in the constitution does it give our president the ability to force an insurance company to provide specific services, for free? It doesn’t. The 1st Amendment issue is a simple distraction and no more. (This is just another extension of the power grab we now have with his unconstitutional Obamacare.)
