Pelosi: Fight For Your Right to…Obamacare?

With a decision from the Supreme Court coming up on the constitutionality of Obamacare – and the possibility that parts, or all of the law will be overturned – former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been going increasingly off the rails. For instance, look at her claim to a virtual telepathic connection with the Justices, a power which would seem more believable in the Matrix trilogy than in real life.

Nancy Pelosi Says Obamacare is a Right Like Social Security and Medicare

Do not try to bend the law. Instead, only recognize the truth - there is no law.

However, Pelosi has now made (if possible) an even more difficult to swallow claim about Obamacare – namely, that it has risen to the level of a “Right,” a status which she also confers on Social Security and Medicare. CNS News reports:

Pelosi made her statement that Obamacare is a “right” in response to a reporter who asked her about a CBS News/New York Times poll that showed 41 percent of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn the law in its entirety while another 27 percent want the Supreme Court to throw out the individual mandate and keep the rest of the law.

“Why do you think that is and what does that say in terms of the chance that the Supreme Court will strike it down?” the reporter asked Pelosi.

“Well, I’m very proud of the Affordable Care Act,” Pelosi responded. “I think that the understanding of it has been jeopardized by misrepresentations that have been put out there relentlessly largely by the industries that have–I shouldn’t say not benefited because everybody benefits from this health care bill–but who claim to have suffered from the bill.

“Here’s the thing: the American Affordable Care Act stands there with Social Security, Medicare, health care for all Americans as a right, not a privilege,” said Pelosi. “It was opposed vigorously by two forces: one, the health insurance industry, and secondly by anti-government ideologues who do not believe that there should be a government role in clean air, clean water, as well as health care in our country.

Where do we start with this statement? First of all, even if you accept that Social Security and Medicare are “rights,” the fact remains that they’ve been around for between 40 and 80 years, whereas Obamacare was passed literally two years ago. It’s a bit soon to be claiming that Obamacare is an entrenched piece of legislation that Americans rely on.

Secondly, Pelosi is contradicting the President’s own description of what rights are protected under the Constitution. Are we the only ones who remember that Obama complained in a radio interview that the constitution is only a charter of “negative liberties?” Here’s the clip, in case you forgot:

Got that? According to Obama, the Constitution “doesn’t say what the Federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.” So where does Pelosi get her idea that a trio of political entitlements, which only exist as an obligation to the Federal government to do something on citizens’ behalf, have suddenly become “rights?” And while we’re on the subject, just what makes something a “right” anyway?

No answer to these questions, which is probably for the best. Picking apart Nancy Pelosi’s vision of the constitution is not a job we would want to do.

      I think she is suffering from an acute case of botulism induced by all the Botox she has had injected into her body. Why do all those with a D after their name feel that once they pass a law, whatever it is automatically becomes a right? Since they passed the Countrywide Dodd-Bwahney Fwank Financial Reform law, does everyone now have the right to guaranteed financial success? Perhaps we have been misled to believe the “D” stands for Democrat, it might actually stand for Duplicity. Latest example, the holier than thou members of Congress require an investigation into how Morgan Stanley Chase lost $2B. They are wondering how this could have possibly happened because they had passed the wonderful Dodd-Frank Law and there were 100(!) regulators in place. Yet, these same people run away fast and furiously from Solyndra using the excuse that sometimes things don’t work out. So, the logical conclusion would be to believe that if it is the taxpayers’ money that is lost/wasted, it is not a problem; however, if it is their own money, well then that must be a crime.
      Another example would the leak catastrophe. No need to appoint an independent investigator, they’ll use the highly qualified attys in the DOJ. Wonder if Holder told them to proceed at the same pace as the ethics investigation(oxymoron) of Maxine Muddy the Waters.

      If ‘Obamacare is a right’; then the Dems are for slavery; the Dems think people have a ‘right’ to the labor of othres; acccoding to their perverted way of thinking, as a physician, I MUST treat or ‘heal you’ at NO CHARGE or at what ever the government says is fair. If that is true, then don‘t you have a ’right’ to other services, such as plumbing, caprernetry, etc; and the government tells the provideer what he/she must charge……………rights come from God, not the state………Hang ‘em!!

      Medicare aand SSI was a right until Lirerals started giving to anyone that wanted it. At first you earned it by paying into it. It’s like income tax – it was originally set up for all to pay into and now because of progressives those that make less than 50 $ grand pay nothing and Congress wonders why there’s not enough money to pay the bills. Back in 1972 a friends fathe worth 2 million $$ Bucks hung himself. His 3 children got SSI and that paid for their new cars. When they went to college it paid tuition. This did not start yeasterday.

      But with that said I can’t wait for the debate when O booger brings up health care and “the chosen one” tries to squirm out of his RomneyCare.

      Actually Paperboy, Social Security is more than solvent with $ 2.67 trillion owed, that it is the number one (or two depending on which site you got to)single holder of government debt. The media would have you believe that China is the largest single holder of government debt, truth is they are number three on the list (they are however the largest foreign holder of US debt). If I constantly borrowed against you 401k and replaced it with I.O.U’s and then you want to retire with now no money (because I borrowed all your money) I don’t believe you would say your 401k is broken, you would say pay me back. This is what we need our government to do, pay it back.

      Healthcare is neither a “right”nor a privilege. It is a RESPONSIBILITY. That responsibility falls on the individual. Rights are spelled out implicitly in the first ten amendments of the Constitution known as the Bill of Rights. Rights are not what someone posting on the Blaze or Pelosi says they are, they are very clear. Want a new right? Then a Constitutional amendment is what you should seek.

      Whenever a people shirks their most basic responsibilities it creates a vacuum. Government naturally tries to fill that vacuum and we have less freedom. I’m for maximum freedom. With great freedom comes great responsibility. I always thought that saying was a cliche or it referred to protecting freedom through war. The meaning is clear, want freedom? Then be a responsible individual. Don‘t want to be responsible for yourself and still think you’ll be free? Allow Government to be responsible for you and see how free you are.

      Socialism.rocks you got rocks in your head if you think we will throw off Capitalism that easily. Capitalism has been the greatest economical system ever devised by man and has lifted more out of poverty than all others combined and multiplied by 10. But you just might be right about the Republican party. It may very well be slowly replaced by a new party, one that is pro maximum freedom, and the polar opposite of the Progressive, anti freedom, straight evil party that has gobbled up what use to be the Democratic Party.

What makes me feel more confident is the statement that Justice Kennedy, our swing voter, made during the congressional voting on the bill.       A couple people, including yourself hit poverty and government intervention on the head. When someone is not responsible for their own actions, it is in my opinion, a form of laziness. In a free market, capitalistic economy, the root of poverty is laziness. You have every opportunity as the person next to you to make money and start a business or a lucrative career.

      Now for Pelosi to say that the ACA has not negatively effected anyone is false and she knows it. Since the signing of the law, my insurance premiums have risen two years in a row. Albeit I can understand why they would want to have such a law is to have less money wasted in fraudulent claims with Medicare and Medicaid. With more people covered under private insurance, that cost would necessarily decrease. However, the increase in mandated coverage’s for insurance companies may vary well break them. The added premiums would not offset the cost because you will have an income group that are seen as able to afford the increase in premiums, but will not be able to when the heart of the law goes into affect. Me and my family have less in our pockets because of the increased premiums.
      This is also why I think Bloomberg enacted a ban on sugary drinks over a certain size in restaurants. The overweight people drinking all those sugary drinks are largely using Medicare and Medicaid and the costs are too much to handle.

A government which targets the earned income of a minute portion of its constituency in order to support (aka, “CONTROL”) the majority cannot be sustained. Although a Socialist government apparently believes that not only does money grow on trees, it also operates on a misguided philosophy that there is plenty of blood in turnips to be squeezed continually without drying up. Printing more money for circulation without having gold to back it up is like writing checks on an empty account just because you still have checks. It’s like letting your credit card balance increase even though you have no means of repaying that loan. It makes no sense to reasonable people.

    The Hospice that I worked for was all ready feeling th impact when the bill was first signed they layed of 35 nurses because the feds held up payment for services rendered. Dr.’s will work for cash payments and not accept Obama care due to all the regulations and slow and low payment. Some have already stopped seeing pt’s on medicare and medical due to reimbursment. The health care system will collapsee under a single payer because they will determine the fee to be paid for services.

      Yes .. I am ready to drop my insurance if they overturn the mandate … I only have major med now … and it is skyrocketing .. and I have NEVER used it .. I would be better off with a cancer/ very high deductible and pay all other out of pocket … I figure the only way to get treatment will be cash. Possibly out of the country even.

    My rights do not come from Pelosi or Obamacare. My rights were given to me at birth from the Constitution of the United States. Pelosi, Reid, and Obummer need tried ASAP for Constitutional treason and if guilty capital punishment should be given. We have traitors to our Country in power.
    These traitors can be tried using the oath to the Constitution they swore to. The minority have a right under the Constitution to try them for treason. A special investigation asked for by the citizens of the US should be insisted upon before we all end up in FEMA camps. Halliburton is building right now enough FEMA camp space for 56 million US citizens. Executive Order 51 declares Obummer a dictator. Is all signed and your imprisonment is waiting for the opportune time.

Too bad our government has failed to protect those God given rights.       Nancy is nuts, she’s really nuts. The other day she claimed papal authority (as if Pope of the Catholic Church) attempting to set canon law. Now she just thinks she’s God and is trying to come up with her very own commandments.. Her first commandent is, she apparently wants us all to kiss her personal, Botox injected, @ss. My only question is which one, the one upon which she sits, or the one from which she speaks.

      There‘s a sceen in ’Sex and The Single Girl’, at the end, where Larry Storch (playing a cop) has gone nuts and a nut wagon picks him up, at the airport, he then tells the driver “follow that plane” as he’s driven away to the funny farm. If only reality would imitate art in this instance. If after one of her nutty speaches, a nut wagon would pick her up and she’d vanish forever. Nancy needs help, professional help and so do the people who voted for her (I’m not joking either. She’s really nuts!).

      As for donating her brain to research. The only thing researchers are going to tell you is her brain needs to be taken to the nearest toilet and flushed

      Medicare does work, but it is not free. 2 people on Social Security pay aprox. $800.00 per month I feel sorry for the ones coming up because it will cost probably twice as much. I am not complaining . My first wife of 51 years was seriously ill for 10 years and it paid 100′s of thousand dollars for her care, My second wife of 10 years had illness like MS and was in a wheel chair for five years they could not figure out what she had and as a last resort she had 2 treatments of IV_IG at $40,000.00 a pop and it caused her to have renal failure. My third wife of 2 years has just been treated for stage 3 Cervical Cancer and had 50 radiation treatments and Chemo costing thousands of dollars. If we did not have Medicare I would be living under a bridge. So I do not complain about the cost it has been very good to me. BUT WE DO NOT NEED OBAMACARE!!! None of my wives would have been given the chance to live.they would have refused treatment.
