Pelosi: Fluke’s $3000 Contraception Figure ‘Factual’ Despite Existence of Cheaper Options

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi might be having a having a bad week. Specifically, her star witness, Sandra Fluke, has arguably turned out to be a fraud, who has ties to one of the more radically pro-abortion groups in the country. Yet the former House Speaker, in a move which will likely draw at least some grudging admiration for its sheer audacity, has doubled down regarding Fluke’s testimony in a press conference today. CNS News reports the rest of the details:

Fluke testified that contraception can cost a law student $3,000 over three years, when in fact the Target store just 3 miles from the Georgetown Law School campus sells a month’s supply of birth control pills for only $9 to people whose insurance does not cover contraception.

At the U.S. Capitol, CNSNews.com asked Rep. Pelosi, “Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke–she told Congress that contraception can cost over $3,000 for a woman during her time in law school. Yet the Target store 3 miles away sells a supply of birth control pills for $9 a month to women who do not have health insurance. Was her testimony accurate?”

Pelosi said: “I have a great deal of respect for the testimony that Sandra Fluke presented to Congress. She was factual, she was courageous and she made a difference in the debate and in the country, and we were honored by her presentation.”

The existence of birth control pills available in the DC area for dramatically less than Fluke mentions has been well-established. However, the generic forms of some forms of contraception that are used to treat other illnesses — for instance, Amethia — may cost more than simple birth control. The irony of this fact is that because House Democrats (led by Pelosi herself) have focused the issue on reproductive health, women who need these more expensive pills for non-sexual reasons now have to cope with a discredited spokeswoman.

      1) if you use the expensive pills for non-sexual reasons, insurance companies DO cover them.
      2) there is a REASON many insurance companies do not pay for birth control… It is ELECTIVE. It is not a NECESSITY. Just as a boob job or hair plugs are elective.
      3) pills and IUDs and other, non-prophylactic (non-condom) forms of birth control DO NOT PREVENT STDs!!!! They only prevent PREGNANCY! PREGNANCY IS NOT A DISEASE. STDs, on the other hand ARE DISEASES, but, can only be prevented by abstainance or by condoms… Condoms which cost fifty cents, not $3,000.00! Condoms given out FREE at many, many, many clinics and health agencies in every city in America! Condoms you can get from a gas station! Condoms the male can supply or fork up fifty cents to buy. Condoms are even given away at singles bars!
      So, drop the false victim-hood-icization-ism. LOL

      Maybe they show us some receipts for those $3000 pills. The one thing the left can do is make claims, but not show actual proof to back such claims.

      What gets me about Pelosi is her ability to rob this Nation blind without lifting an eyebrow. She used our aircraft to hall her arse back & forth from SF to DC and demanded top shelf liquor to the tune of
      $100,000 for all the free loaders she hauled with her to drink the liquor we paid for. Not even considering the fuel bill we paid for and the huge airplane she demanded.
      Don’t like people like her. My only hope is she’ll be paid back for all her ill gotten gains before long.

      Then, in congress, she’s demanded a bundle for her family, pushing bills through for her husband’s fish Co. in the Pacific, and now a bro-in-law for some business he’s in and others. She seems to think the tax payers are in America to pay for her every whim and expensive desires.

    I‘d like to see Princess Pelosi provide a breakdown of this woman’s contraceptive costs. How much for birth control pills, how much for condoms [birth control pills alone will not protect her from STD's], and oh yes, how much for an abortion or two in case something goes wrong.
