Pelosi Lie About Tea Party ‘Spitting’ Incident Goes Unchallenged by ABC’s Christiane Amanpour

Pelosi on This Week Criticizes Cantor and Supports Occupy Wall Street

Flawed short-term memory appears rampant in the nation’s Capital. Conservatives were accused of hyperbolizing President Obama’s economic policies when they labeled his “millionaire’s tax“ approach as ”class warfare.”  Now only weeks later the anti-capitalistic “Occupy Wall Street” movement has spread across the country pitting Americans against each other calling for massive redistribution of wealth, while being encouraged by foreign revolutionaries. Some members of Congress are concerned by the growing mob and it’s intentions, but former Speaker of the House and current Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi calls it democracy:

Beyond her alarming defense of the chaotic civil unrest that has already cost local governments millions, Rep. Pelosi went unchallenged in her comparison of the Occupy Wall Street movement to the Tea Party, in addition to her habitually challenged accusations that members of Congress were spit on during Tea Party rallies in years past.

“I didn’t hear him say anything when the Tea Party was out demonstrating, actually spitting on members of Congress right here in the Capitol,”Rep. Pelosi said in an interview with Christiane Amanpour on ABC’s “This Week.” “And he and his colleagues were putting signs in the windows encouraging them. But let’s not get down to that.”

The incident that Rep. Pelosi was alluding to took place in March 2010, when Rep. Emanuel Cleaver accused one rouge Tea Party demonstrator of spitting on him. Video of the accused incident went viral with no clear evidence of the actual spitting, other than Rep. Cleaver’s reaction to a protester appearing to yell “kill the bill” in his face, adjacent to a Capital Hill police officer who shows little reaction to the accused ejected saliva. One Tea Party group offered a $15,000 reward for proof of the spitting.

Ironically, Rep. Cleaver was only a few strides behind Rep. John Lewis during the March 2010 incident. On Friday, Occupy Atlanta refused to allow Rep. Lewis to speak at their event, which he came down to downton Atlanta to support.

In her ABC interview, Pelosi went on to defend the protestors’ as representatives of American anger towards Wall Street and continued unemployment, along with the failure of TARP, commonly known as the bank bailout.

“How they characterize someone who may disagree with them, that says more about them,” said Rep. Pelosi in regards to Republican Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor’s comments in regards to Occupy Wall Street.

In April 2009, Rep. Pelosi characterized the Tea Party tax day protests and those she disagreed with as opponents to “the great middle class,” and not a grassroots movement but ”Astroturf,” manufactured and funded by high-earners:

      I’ve seen the “spitting” video and obviously the guy didn’t deliberately spit on the Congressman. It was simply that in his blind rage, foam and spittle were ejected from his mouth. That’s not his fault.

      I‘m not sure why anyone would object to Pelosi’s remarks. The right isn’t even claiming they want to support the poor or the middle class. It’s easy to define the current politcal stance of the right on any given issue: does this position support the richest one percent of American. If the answer is yes, they are for it, if the answer is no, against.

      Eliminate programs that help the poor in order to pay for tax cuts for the rich? Sure. Allow companies to save money by polluting more, even though the pollutants are toxic to human beings? Sure, of course. Doesn‘t matter than cutting taxes for the rich doesn’t and never has created a single job. It just gives the top 1% more money for campaign donations.

We have a very nice State Mental Health hospital here in Illinois. a single wide bed just for her in a secure room with a view to the hall way. A bounty of $ 100,000.00 dollars was offered to any one with video of a TEA party Citizen SPITTING on a member of Congress.     Did you really expect Amanpour to challenge Pelosi? Even if Amanpour had the intellectual curiosity and honesty to aquaint herself with the facts, interviewers regularly just let the person being interviewed present their own fantasy world. Of course, this laziness leads to commonly held misconceptions, but that’s how it goes. Another good example of this is when Juan Williams got the boot from NPR. He got the boot for frankly stating his feelings regarding Muslims on a plane. In that SAME discussion, however, Williams also stated AS FACT that Eric Rudolf and Timothy McVeigh were “Christians.” It is well established that they were atheists. That error on Williams’ part has (to the best of my knowledge) NEVER been brought up by a pundit/talk radio personality/news organization. Yup, that’s how it goes. Facts can get in the way of something else that you want to present, so you just move along and ignore the error.

      According to M Scott Peck an evil person:
      Is consistently self deceiving, with the intent of avoiding guilt and maintaining a self image of perfection
      Deceives others as a consequence of their own self deception
      Projects his or her evils and sins onto very specific targets (scapegoats) while being apparently normal with everyone else (“their insensitivity toward him was selective”
      Commonly hates with the pretense of love, for the purposes of self deception as much as deception of others
      Abuses political (emotional) power (”the imposition of one’s will upon others by overt or covert coercion”
      Maintains a high level of respectability and lies incessantly in order to do so
      Is consistent in his or her sins. Evil persons are characterized not so much by the magnitude of their sins, but by their consistency (of destructiveness)
      Is unable to think from the viewpoint of their victim (scapegoat)
      Has a covert intolerance to criticism and other forms of narcissistic injury
      Most evil people realize the evil deep within themselves but are unable to tolerate the pain of introspection or admit to themselves that they are evil. Thus, they constantly run away from their evil by putting themselves in a position of moral superiority and putting the focus of evil on others. Evil is an extreme form of what Scott Peck, in The Road Less Traveled, calls a character disorder.

    It would take a blind person not to see the libs intent. Throw the country into chaos and try to stop an election that they can’t win. This was know two years ago, just watch them at work. Treason at it finest.

      You are correct, I’ve never seen a group of people cause/create so many situation that warrant a violent response and push even more because they don’t get it.

      Violence is what they want; anyone who doubts this is delusional.

      Riots are one thing, but the amount of rhetoric coming from the top of the dem party is another. In my lifetime I cannot remember a time half the Gov worked to promote riots/violence.

      You have a point, but being in the path of an ensuing riot is not a pleasant place to be.
      The home I grew up in was in the path of a riot and the house nearly burnt to the ground.
      The local news implied local organizations were mainly responsible for the malaise because they were afraid of the backlash if they identified the real culprits.
      Years later, it was quietly released the Black Panthers and Symbionese Liberation Army had a great deal to do with that riot organizing.
      My first introduction to urban militant groups.
      Over the years, they’ve altered their tactics and infiltrated our government and our education system.
      Top down, bottom up, inside out …
      Van Jones gave it away because he believes he’s mainstream now.
      Back then, we just moved to a newer developed area … with gates.
      Fighting back now is a mater of life or death.
      I’ll go with, “Give me liberty or give me death … If they win, they’ll soon die in the crap they made for themselves … Their way has never worked in world history, and never will.”

    So let me get this strait….There was no violence, no arrests, no one got out of hand no racial tension, and they most likely left the place cleaner and nicer than when they got there.

    any progressive rally….based on violence, filth in every direction including defecating on police vehicles, filled with racial tension and anti Semitic hatred large numbers getting arrested, harassing local business, closing down traffic and making people uncomfortable just walking through the streets, scaring local population, making police dawn riot gear just to deal with threats.

    Tea Party= Dangerous
    Progressive Communist= thought provoking good people

    By the way I’m willing to bet that at every kill wall street rally, after they go the Tea party will organize a clean up of they’re mess. But of course that’s what good parents do…clean up after our kids messes. But a better parent would spank them and insert a little discipline!

      Of course there will be large messes! Didn’t you see the photographs of the Mall after the inauguration? It was knee deep in paper and garbage.

      Didn’t you see the photographs of what they did to the capital in Minnesota after the union protests? They are probably still scrubbing the spray paint off the marble.

      And more recently, there have been reports of the unsanitary and filthy conditions at the private park that the Wall Street fools are using as base camp. Bet the owners are grinding their teeth. By the way, have any of those clowns figured out that the reason the park is privately owned is because the company that owns it is involved in “corporate greed”?
