Pelosi: ‘We Didn’t Lose the Election Because of Me’

On NPR this morning, Renee Montagne interviewed outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the midterm election results. How did Pelosi respond to a softball question about being demonized? Not surprisingly she said the election had nothing to do with her and was all about unemployment:

MONTAGNE: Getting back to the politics, you have been quite successfully demonized by the Republicans. How are you going to keep that from hurting your party more than it already has?
Rep. PELOSI: Well, let me say this when you say more than it already has. The reason the election results are what they are is because we have nine-and-half percent unemployment in our country. We didn’t lose the election because of me.
In any circumstance when you have nine-and-half percent unemployment, any party that cannot turn that into political gain should hang up the gloves. I said that before the election.
The reason they had to try to take me down is because I’ve been effective in fighting the special interests in Washington, D.C. I’m also the most significant attractor of support for the Democrats. So I’m not looking back on this. They asked me to run. I’m running. And again, our members understand they made me target because I’m effective.
Apparently she never heard about the anti-pelosi platform.
This quote follows a week where Pelosi congratulated herself on a job well done and also threw a victory party.

One of my friends, at least in the past when I was living there, never seemed to have ANY idea at all on a topic until he heard something about it on NPR. Zero, zip, nada. After he heard something about it on NPR, his views were like listening to a parrot regurgitating the broadcast.
The only media this guy would read, watch or listen to was liberal, only one point of view and it was taken as gospel. In such an environment, it’s no wonder that Pelousey (spelling?) can get reelected.
If the dems ever do push though the net neutrality, or fair reporting act or what ever it is called, to get equal time for differing opinions on TV and radio… I think that it will blow up in their faces, all the liberals that shutter themselves in to only being exposed to liberal points of view will start to hear the other side, and MIGHT actually use their brains for once to make up their own mind.
