Pence Power: Indiana Congressman Tops Presidential Straw Poll

For a lot of conservatives pondering presidential possibilities, it may be time to think seriously about Mike Pence. The Indiana congressman’s surprise win in the straw poll at the Values Voter Summit is certainly going to trigger that. Matt Lewis points out the the VVS poll shows Pence has appeal beyond fiscal issues:
To those who view Pence as primarily a fiscal conservative, his victory over Huckabee came as a surprise.
But Pence, who spoke to the group on Friday, is a strong orator who isn’t afraid to share his socially conservative values.
Here’s Fox News coverage of the Pence factor:
Values voters will find great appeal in statements like this:
“Those who would have us ignore the battle being fought over life, marriage and religious liberty have forgotten the lessons of history,” Pence told the audience. “As in the days of a house divided, America’s darkest moments have come when economic arguments trumped moral principles.”
Here is the full Pence speech from the Values Voter Summit:

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 2:25pmObama’s recompense will be Pence? Hopefully not, this would be a wrong for America to travel down, especially after Bush and Obama. The one who is truly in line with how American’s are feeling these days, and who has the intellect to straighten out the ship of state is Ron Paul. Everyone else is just plain making pretty for the cameras and politicking on your dime.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 2:08pmI missed this speech yesterday and now I’m really sorry I did. This is an awesome speech and I can’t wait to hear more from Rep. Pense. It is too bad the other side can’t comprehend the hugh loss our country has gone through—losing your principles and values as stated in the Bible and our Constitution is very sad as you have nothing left but nasty rhetoric which does no one any good except entrench oneself into the “poor me” state. All I want from a government is for them to keep me safe, provide protection for our military, follow the Constitution that has served our country so well for many years and kept this country the best in the world until our current president decided he knew better then our founders and God! Well it is now clear, he knows nothing about leading, business or running a government! It is also clear only those who have their hands out for any and everything that president can give them instead of standing on principles and values–something that has evaded them peraonally!

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 1:23pmI have been having an internal debate about who would make a better president – someone who used to be a legislator or someone who used to be an executive. Leaders have to be able to make the final decisions quickly and confidently and most of the time they aren’t the popular choices. Leaders know how to get the best out of their followers. Legislators on the other hand are the foot soldiers in the trenches of writing and shaping laws. They are used to arguing passionately for their side and are typically detail-oriented. So, given the different skill-sets for each role, I am less likely to support a legislator changing roles to run for president. Look at the disaster that Obama has been as a leader – wishy-washy and all over the map. He wasn’t even a good legislator by voting present 130 times in the Illinois senate and sponsoring maybe 1 piece of legislation as a US Senator. Bush, Reagan and even Clinton (even though his morals sucked and I disapproved of his partisanship) all had good leadership qualities. They made hard choices that leaders are supposed to make. Just something Conservatives need to think about when choosing our 2012 Republican candidate.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 1:19pmPence would be amazing. His name has been thrown around for several years. He was on the short list for speaker and he is not establishment. If your remember, he gave the rebuttal to those in favor of O’Bama Care. He was big in the ‘Real Republican Party’ is Indiana and supported many that were against the RINO’s. He has a very strong faith, is pro-life, pro-family, homeschools, and does not waiver in his convictions. He does a lot of pro-life work and has been doing so consistently for many, many years. He is also very intelligent, well spoken and can fire people up. He is no fan of the establishment for the establishments sake. Anyone know where to get a Pence/Palin 2012 bumper sticker?

He said he regrets that with every fiber of his being. He said he had to ask God for forgiveness over it and on Fox News Channel asked everyone else for it. He said he has to admit he failed in that decision and that the weight of it is his alone to carry. That was an honorable admittance of an error in judgment and an honest “I am sorry.”

That would be true Tepartyblog if our country was founded on man‘s law but it wasn’t. It was founded on God’s Law. Our Constitution was written by men who were learned in God’s Law. In order to have knowledge and understanding of God’s Law and our Constitution, you have to read the Bible. Your reply tells me you have no understanding. Values are what people had before Moral Relativism was used to subvert them. I have absolutely no problem with Americans taking positions that are more concerned with the welfare of America vs. the welfare of Europe, the third world or any other place.
Wars have been fought and many have died protecting America’s interests, and I have no desire to see those interests squandered and given away today.
By the way, if Moral Relativism was real, there would be no opinions or positions that all persons would find objectionable. I apologize in advance for the extreme example…I suspect that there is nowhere where eating your neighbors children is considered acceptable. Therefore all opinions and positions are not equal, and Moral Relativism is a falsehood.

I find myself being completely skeptical these days when it comes to ALL politicians. Gone are the days where we blindly (or semi-blindly) just believed in and followed the party affiliation candidate. They must WORK for our vote and PROVE to us that they are worthy of we-the-people’s faith and support in their platform before we elect them. They must say what they mean and mean what they say and then stand against bloated government policies even if it means going against some in their own ranks. So.. …I will be watching and learning about this Mr. Pence…
BUT……………. meanwhile.. the REAL burning question I have for this thread is why on earth do the liberal posters in this forum choose names like ‘dangling’, ‘stupid’, and ‘ignorance’ ???? ….just wondering.. …surely they know that choosing a username with those words in the name only cements what we already think about liberals.. ???? ..(and I don’t mean them personally…but rather their politics).
