Pentagon Will Now Allow Military Chaplains to Perform Same-Sex Unions

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — The Pentagon has decided that military chaplains may perform same-sex unions, whether on or off a military installation.
The ruling announced Friday by the Pentagon’s personnel chief follows the Sept. 20 repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” a law that had prohibited gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military. According to CNN, a memo that was released on Friday reads:
“A military chaplain may participate in or officiate any private ceremony, whether on or off a military installation, provided that the ceremony is not prohibited by applicable state and local law.
Further a chaplain is not required to participate in or officiate a private ceremony if doing so would be in variance with the tenets of his or her religion.”
The Pentagon also says Defense Department property may be used for private functions, including religious and other ceremonies such as same-sex unions, as long as it’s not prohibited by state or local laws. This, of course, will bother some who stand opposed to gay marriage. The Wall Street Journal reports that Jeh Johnson, the Defense Department general counsel, wrote the following in one of the memos:
“Private functions are not official activities of the Department of Defense. Thus, the act of making DoD facilities available for private functions, including religious and other activities, does not constitute an endorsement of the activities by DoD.”
In May, before the end of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the Navy was forced into an embarrassing about-face when if first OK’d and then changed its mind on marriages on military bases.
Some members of Congress have objected to military chaplains performing same-sex unions, saying it would violate the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act.

Here we go again.
gays are 2% of the population
they carry 80% of the AIDS
they carry 64% of the syphilis
gay males are 4000 times more likely to get anal cancer (and we are told that none of this will cost the tax payer any extra, when the military medical system has to pick up the tab. Where I come from, we call that a big fat lie)
Lesbians are twice as likely to have an STD, and have 4 times the number of male sex partners in thier past
Lesbians have a much higher rate of assault on each other
gay males disproportionally molest children.
Homosexuals destroy families and they destroy nation. No nation has ever survived allowing homosexuality to become normal. No nation or super power accepts homosexuality on the way to the top, they do it on the way to the bottom.
General George Washington saw fit to remove homosexuals from the continental army. Our current military seems to fall more in line with ideology of Lady Ga Ga and Madonna than the four fathers.
During the continental Army, we did have the Baron Von Stuebon write our manual for drill and ceremony. Turns out he was gay, and while back in Prussia, he was accused of having raped a number of young boys (typical of sodomites).
I think that sums it up pretty well.

It’s obvious to me you suffer from an overactive faculty of critical thinking. You apparently have not been properly indoctrinated into the fundamentalist Judeo-Christian paradigm that exist here and I believe we are going to have to preform a partial lobotomy to compensate. Surely then flimsy statistical and historical connections made in an effort to prove a position based on faith will make more sense to you. Just as I have come to the conclusion that western women are a sick perversion of what I insist is natural and right based on the absurdly high instances of breast cancer when compared to the normal male population. Or that our civilization will surely come to an end, just as ancient Egypt did… Just like us they allowed women to hold positions of power, inherit and own property and divorce their husbands–how sad we did not learn from their fallen civilization.

You’re right! Western men are an unnatural perversion too! But it is possible for a man to get breast cancer… not so likely for a woman to get testicular cancer. So if I am trying to use your logic here my point remains the same.
Rome varied greatly in its acceptance of homosexuality throughout its history, and there is no real link to general acceptance of it and the decline or fall of Rome. It was accepted (to some degree or another) in parts of Rome’s beginning, height and decline. So to say that Rome fell soon after it accepted homosexuality is blatantly false.
Although I do not believe it to be a very large contributing factor, Rome was declining around the time Christianity was made the state religion… and it really did fall soon after that, sooner than its acceptance of homosexuality at some time centuries prior.
I would suggest you read up on history before telling another person to do so.

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 5:27pmRANGERP, I’m sure many agree with your stance. It is one in line with God who called homosexuals abominations throughout the Bible. However your going about this argument all wrong. God in his perfection can love the sinner yet burn with wrath for him at the same time. Why would this be the case? God brings wrath and hides his face from us sinners because we are in error and he is teaching us. He loves us steadfast because God is love and the nature of love requires forgiveness to move forward. Your argument would really convince people if you kept the tone sounding in control, loving, and forgiving. I‘ll admit that isn’t easy but it is right. 50% of sexual assaults in one of the largest military posts in the US last year were male on male. Your peeps (2% of the population) are committing half the sexual assaults. It will be worse next year. It is what they do.
80% of AIDS cases last year are from gay men. 64% were African American men. African American men have been the fastest growing population of gays in the US. It is a statistic that the left of the gays does not want known. It takes away the “gay is genetic” argument. No one wants to violate PC rules, and claim that blacks are more genetically likely to be gay.
The other kicker is that they want to prove that homosexuality is not environmental. Sort of hard to do, when the fastest growing population of gays, also has seven in ten babies born in single parent homes, are often reared without a father, send more men to prison than to college, and make up 40% of the prison population. Throw in the extreme high crime rates. They are 12 % of the population, commit 50% of the murders, 64% of the rapes, 75% of the armed robberies.
throw in the fact that many of the African America population gets their into to homosexuality behind bars.

I am good with the Amish. They make leather products and they believe sodomites to be evil.
The whole issues with the high number of blacks turning gay at a faster pace than other groups are a byproduct of democrat’s social programs. They tried to keep them in slavery, and got defeated by the republicans (formed from the free soil party). Slavery ended, so dems started the KKK. Then they enacted Jim Crow laws, and voted against every civil rights bill that Republican pushed. Fred Douglas, Booker T, and MLK were all registered republicans.
Once dems saw they could not stop the black man from voting, they took a new approach. They know if you destroy the family, you destroy the society. the knew the welfare, subsidized ghettos, assisted housing, food stamps,…. would take away a need for a strong black man as the head of the family. Turn a blind eye to high crime, rap music, and overemphasize sports….. And your democrat party all but destroyed the black family in America.
Be not dismayed. I have faith. Black Americans are waking up. They are starting to see Obama and the democrats for the liars and slave holders that they are. Herman Cain is getting steam. He is a tea party favorite, and just made a jump in the poles.
You will see a rebuilding in the black community; they will throw off the chains of the democrat party and their socialism. It is coming.

I thought it was progressive Woodrow Wilson that ran on a help the blacks platform, then pulled the rug out from under them
I thought it was Progressive Margret Thatcher (a hero to Hillary Clinton) that wanted eugenics to rid us of those unwanted black babies. When she could not get her way, it was the planned parenthood that stepped up the pace in killing the black babies.

While the word may be offensive, you will hear it most in the rap music. hear anyone complaining about that.

Reagan supported the apartheid government in South Africa and even labeled Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress a notorious terrorist organization.
He was elected using the fictitious welfare queen to convince millions of white voters that Black women on welfare were the reason for high taxes.

When and where did I claim Reagan to be the standard for anything. He started out as a democrat. He also started out as pro abortion.
Reagan began his political career as a liberal Democrat, admirer of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and an active supporter of New Deal policies. He may not have agreed with one of the civil rights acts, but he could not vote against it. He was a state governor, not a congressman or senator (learn your history).
I base right/wrong on the Bible, not Reagan, the republican party, tea party…..

These are the last days of the American empire. Like all the others it will implode from within. The Egyptians defeat and enslavement of Nubians and Arabs who were brought back to Egypt to work eventually took over a weakend country about 800 BC when the original Egyptians were in the final phase of being absorbed by the multicultural elements who eventually became the majority.
Alexander the Great’s generals, who were forced to marry women from other ethnicities cast them aside upon his death and returned to a homogeneous societies in the various territories. Much blood was shed during this rejection of multiculturalism.
Rome dropped to a serious level of drapravity and was severely weakened by the inclusion of so many different tribal factions it eventually fell apart into chaos, with bloodletting and killing rampant throughout the city for a long time. It was the Visigoths from within who opened the gates of Rome and allowed their ethnic kin to sack it.
The British Empire, stretched too thin with its military spread out around the world, became overburdened to the point of collapse with its multicultural subjects.
America and Europe both morally and multiculturally has dropped to the point where unity that was common throughout the latter part of the 19th century and most all of the 20th century is now gone.

“If you are serious that America is an “empire,” then by definition it’s multicultural, and, by your argument, doomed to decline.”
Has there ever been an empire that did not decline? Consider the contentious tribes this one has. It’s a conglomeration of squabbling ethnicities and cultures.
Nations are comprised of territories which are contiguous, with a population that speaks one language, has a common history and regards their countrymen as co-nationals. They share common concerns, specifc to their group, with common heroes, and, most of the co-nationals share a common vision of the future of the nation. unlike empires which contain people who are different from one another, speak different languages, with different histories, and who usually are always bitterly bickering about one issue or another, often on the verge of rioting or civil chaos.
Empires are fragmented and have non-contiguous jurisdictions like the US which has Hawaii, Alaska, Peurto Rico, and they’re military presence is common in various parts of the world where they try to impose their will by force or threat of force, as the British Empire did and the US is doing now. America was part of the British Empire before it revolted and broke away.
Normalizing homosexuals amounts to the inclusion of another tribe for the empire that divides it further and reduces the level of morality, which seriously affects unity.

No, there has never been an empire that did not decline–homofriendly or not!
Yes, in general “nations” are defined by contiguous territory and common history, language and traditions, but there are exceptions. “Israel,” for example, can be considered a nation even during the 2000 years when Jews had no state. Switzerland is a nation with strong national pride and traditions, and a distinctive way of doing things (no euros for us, thank you very much!), even though its people speak 4 different official languages.
An empire, as I see it, represents the domination of one nation or ethnic group over others. Many of the empires of modern times have consisted of non-contiguous territories, but think also of others, ancient, medieval and modern, which were single large land masses: the Persian, the Mongol and the Russian empires were no less empires for not having “overseas” possessions, Hawaii and Alaska, on the other hand, despite their geographical separation from the old 48 states, are nevertheless integral parts of the US. Their people are full US citizens. It’s doubtful whether more than a handful of non-white natives of either would consider themselves victims of imperialism.
What any of this has to do with homosexuals, who are not really a “tribe” but something else, I leave for you to explain!

“Switzerland is a nation with strong national pride and traditions… its people speak 4 different official languages.”
Switzerland is comprised of Cantons, each one a sovereign entity in itself, and each canton has its own constitution, legislature, government and courts. Its success is due to the ethnic separation into sovereign cantons, something many say will be the outcome of our next civil war, and I agree.
“Hawaii and Alaska, on the other hand, despite their geographical separation from the old 48 states, are nevertheless integral parts of the US. ”
The indigenous people of both states are fighting now for secession, with the native Hawaiians the most zealous. They have a day each year known as Kill Haole Day. (literally Haole refers to foreigners, but has come to mean whites) on Kill Haole Day, school children harass and assault white children.
Puerto Ricans have a large number of people who vigorously fight to be an independent nation, and have even went so far as to literally attack Congress.
I don’t agree with your estimation of Israel.
“What any of this has to do with homosexuals, who are not really a “tribe” but something else, I leave for you to explain!”

Yes, I see where you’re coming from, Lloyd, regarding land mass and empires, and you’re right. The location of land mass alone doesn’t constitute an empire. I didn’t say so, but there’s no arbitary list of conditions that have to be met in total for an entity to be declared an empire. One situation or another in itself could qualify a nation as an empire, if a nation’s imposition of its will is included always as an arbitrary factor.
Also Israel could be regarded as a non-geographical nation as well as a physical land mass in that Jews worldwide are unified as a religion, no matter where they might reside, which is also true of the followers of Islam. But Jews do not have the militant aims and exclusiveness that Muslims do.
Similarly, yet for different reasons, blacks, in my opinion, are united the same way transnationally, on a racial basis, rather than religion. The majority of blacks in every country usually give priority to black people, black causes and black interests everywhere in the world, over and above their respective countries and countrymen. Have we EVER known of the CBC to be concerned with anything else?
The bottom line to it all, however, is that fractious societies do not work. They have failed throughout history, which means this empire, being more divisive than any of the others, is destined to fall.
We’re on the road to civil war, and the sign posts tell us quite clearly exactly that.

Klingenschmitt told WND that supporters of the newly released memo will point out that some chaplains will be allowed to “opt out” of presiding over same-sex weddings, but even they “will soon be labeled ‘discriminators’ and passed over for promotion, as ‘not a team player.’”
Perkins cited a letter sent to Congress to support the claim, which says in part:
We are veteran service members, primarily chaplains, who expect that military religious liberty will come under significant threat from the government’s decision to force open homosexual behavior on our military.
The whole reason that the chaplaincy corps exists is to fulfill the constitutional imperative of protecting service members’ rights to freedom of religion. Katcoff v. Marsh, 755 F.2d 223, 234 (2d Cir. 1985) (”Unless the [military] provided a chaplaincy it would deprive the [service member] of his right under the Establishment Clause not to have religion inhibited and of his right under the Free Exercise Clause to practice his freely chosen religion.”).
Chaplains and service members have told us they are very concerned they will be marginalized and even punished for being faithful to their religious beliefs in the wake of the repeal. We share those concerns. In fact, some chaplains have already personally experienced the punitive atmosphere this repeal has generated.”

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 2:24pmThe armed services should now acknowledge the legitimacy of polygamous marriage and pay benefits to all involved it the marriage. Can we argue against it? I really don’t see how we can with what we have already condoned. If you argue against it, you’re a polygaphobe. The can of worms is wide open now.

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 7:01pmMy point that I was trying to illustrate was that I don’t care how many gays are in the military any more than I care how many soldiers prefer chocolate ice cream… It is entirely irrelevant from my point of view. Whether or not homosexuality is a choice is another issue all together. I would say probably not a choice in the majority of cases. But, even if it was a choice for some, there has to be something about a particular person that would permit them to consider that as an option rather than be repulsed by it as many people on here seem to be.
I am willing to bet you are a heterosexual. I am willing to bet you have never had an interest in the same sex as you have had with the opposite sex… and so I am willing to bet that the idea that you could choose to be homosexual never actually crossed your mind. So why would it for anyone else? How could it for anyone else unless it was a natural state for some?

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 2:11pmI don’t get this…. As a member of the military I had to go through a class about the repeal of don‘t ask don’t tell. First of, whether they are married or not they get no benefits. They don’t move your spouse to your next duty station, you don’t get separation pay while you are deployed, you don’t get dependent pay or no medical. So what is the point of marrying gay military members then?

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 2:08pmHad enough?
Wouldn’t it be great to cancel the laws Obama signed, the debt he caused and recoup trillions?
You can!
Constitution, Art. 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible … .”
Exempting a “citizen” from being a “natural born citizen” proves they aren’t equal, or no exemption is needed. Being not less than nor equal, a NBC must be more than the minimum requisite for citizenship then, which was US birth to a US citizen parent. Only US birth to US citizen parents (plural) is greater, thus defining a natural born citizen.[1]
The Supreme Court agreed in Minor v. Happersett, 1874. “The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens.”[Donofrio]
Even if born in HI, Obama isn’t a natural born citizen. His Kenyan dad precludes eligibility!
Usurpers are arrested, not impeached. Obama must be prosecuted for using an alleged fraudulent social security number and birth certificate in usurping the Presidency! Then every law, executive order and appointment Obama inflicted on us is invalidated.
Please petition your Sheriff & others to investigate Obama’s fraud now!

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 3:05pmYou have been bamboozled by liars. Minor v Happersett is not and was never intended to be a binding precedent establishing a complete definition of natural born citiizen. You would know that if you had read the very next sentences of the actual text of the decision:
“Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”
Where it says that the definition had always been in dispute and that they were not ruling on it at that time because it had nothing to do with the case at hand They did rule on it in US v Wong Kim Ark (1998). That’s the binding precedent that has been the law of our land ever since, and it says you just have to be born here, it doesn’t matter who your parents were.

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 2:23pmI think people need to learn what “phobic” means. Words still mean things, no matter how they are manipulated by those with an agenda. Phobic is a state of fear. A person who does not agree with homosexuality on grounds of faith – or other reasons – is likely not phobic. He or she just disagrees. This homophobic absurdity is on the same level, in my opinion, as those who disagree with Obama being called racist. (And, ironically, those white folks who support Herman Cain, it seems, are also racist.) Hmmm. If you cannot argue the case without namecalling, you haven’t got much of a case.
