Perry Blasts Obama on Border Security: Either He Has ‘Poorest Intel’ or is ‘Abject Liar’

During Wednesday night’s Republican presidential debate, the issue of immigration reform and border security arose.
As governor of the state with the longest stretch of border with Mexico, Rick Perry weighed in with his thoughts on security and blasted President Obama for once having stated that Texas’ border with Mexico was “safer than it’s ever been.“ Perry went on to accuse the president of either having the ”poorest intel” of any president in history, or of being an “abject liar” to the American people.
When asked what would make the U.S. border with Mexico secure, Perry responded that, to be successful, the task “requires a commitment” by the federal government to “put boots on the ground.”
“…and at that point in time you can have an intellectually appropriate discussion about immigration reform,” stated Perry plainly.
“For the President of the United States to go to El Paso, Texas and say the border is safer than it’s ever been — either he has some of the poorest intel of any president in the history of this country or he was an an abject liar to the American people.. It is not safe on that border.”

Posted on September 8, 2011 at 6:01amAs for Perry’s border stance. I heard a good “excuse, argument, whatever you want to call it” on his lack of handling of the border as governor. It‘s the federal government’s job to secure the border. He has kept out because it’s not a state issue. I’m torn about that. I live in Texas, though I’m not a native and have only been here about 6 years. I know my husband got a job within 2 months of moving here. Will Perry handle the border the same as President as he has as governor? He says not, because it’s a federal issue. I think there’s a lot of misinformation about Perry, and I’m still weeding through it. I haven’t listened to any of the debates. I do, however lean towards Herman Cain.

If he truly wants to make a deal with Republicans for a new stimulus package, it should require revoking the backdoor amnesty he passed last week and providing more money for deporting illegals. Most people think Obama doesn’t even want a deal. He just wants to propose something that he knows will be rejected so that he can blame Republicans. But it seems to me that every time I open a Blaze article on Perry that there are an inordinate number (compared with other sites) of people blasting Perry at every turn. Posted on September 7, 2011 at 10:45pmThere’s a third possibility. Busineses in Texas are hiring Mexicans crossing the border in violation of the law.
Listen, blame it on Obama, blame it on not having a big wall. But Mexicans aren’t crossing the border to go to Disneyland. They’re crossing the border because they can come to Texas and make money from employers in Texas, who want to maximize profits by hiring Mexican nationals, paying them below minimum wage, not paying taxes for them and not worrying about insuring their safety. They don’t come here for fun, they come here to make money from unscrupulous employers. If businesses stoped hiring them, they’d stop coming.
But, of course, Republicans will never crack down on businesses. They know the cheap labor increases their profits. So they are going to ask for a wall (which they know the US will never build, because it’s a stupid waste of money) and blame Obama. So they have they have their cake and eat it too.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 10:28pmTwo years ago Perry came out dead-set against the border fence.
He opposed ending the practice of “anchor babies,” a process that just about guarantees Mexico victory in the on-going demographic war. And, he fights for the right of illegal aliens to be educated for free in the United States (one of the reasons California is broke.)
Perry also championed the NAFTA highway, linking Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, which many believe is a precursor to the North American Union.
He talks the talk on immigration enforcement, but seems to limit deportation of illegal aliens to those who commit other crimes.
In 2005 Gov. Perry borrowed the idea for a citizen Internet Patrol from American Border Patrol but he failed to follow-through. His $250 million “Texas Border Security Council” boondoggle earned him a “pants on fire” award. His policies will erase the border.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 10:25pmIn a recent interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader, Governor Rick Perry reiterated his support for the Texas DREAM Act, a bill he signed in 2001. The bill signed by Governor Perry allows illegal aliens who have lived in Texas for three years to receive in-state tuition. Due to the Texas DREAM Act, qualifying illegal aliens attending the University of Texas, for example, pay $10,000 less in tuition costs, an amount that is thrown on the backs of taxpaying citizens in Texas.
Report Post »In 1996, Representative Lamar Smith of Texas authored the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. Rep. Smith’s bill clearly prohibits states from offering in-state tuition benefits for illegal aliens, unless offered to all U.S. citizens and legal immigrants as well.
The Texas DREAM Act of 2001 that Governor Rick Perry signed and supports, is clearly in violation of Rep. Smith’s Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.
Please send a fax to Governor Perry and ask him to reiterate his position on the Texas DREAM Act, and more importantly, to put taxpaying Texans first.”
