Perry Blasts Obama on Border Security: Either He Has ‘Poorest Intel’ or is ‘Abject Liar’

During Wednesday night’s Republican presidential debate, the issue of immigration reform and border security arose.

As governor of the state with the longest stretch of border with Mexico, Rick Perry weighed in with his thoughts on security and blasted President Obama for once having stated that Texas’ border with Mexico was “safer than it’s ever been.“ Perry went on to accuse the president of either having the ”poorest intel” of any president in history, or of being an “abject liar” to the American people.

When asked what would make the U.S. border with Mexico secure, Perry responded that, to be successful, the task “requires a commitment” by the federal government to “put boots on the ground.”

“…and at that point in time you can have an intellectually appropriate discussion about immigration reform,” stated Perry plainly.

“For the President of the United States to go to El Paso, Texas and say the border is safer than it’s ever been — either he has some of the poorest intel of any president in the history of this country or he was an an abject liar to the American people.. It is not safe on that border.”

Watch Perry‘s deliver his strong words about President Obama’s views on border security:

PERRY HAS THE WORSE IMMIGRATION RECORD AND STANCE OUT OF ANY GOP CANDIDATE…

He is another W. Bush. Gov. Martinez of a border state, New Mexico, says that he has a horrible immigration stance, remember she knows this because she is a border governor and a hispanic: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/sep/martinez_perry_immigration.html

Romney couldn’t get my vote for any amount of money. Him and Perry are scabbing on the Tea Party because they know without the Tea Party they are dead in the water. 3 people on the stage deserve serious consideration. Ron Paul, Herman Cain, and Michelle Bachman.

I will say though. Perry was half right when addressing the border issue and Obama. He said either. I say both. He has the worse intel in the history of the United States on border security, and he “is” an abject liar.

So, the most liberal news outlet in America polls for Ron Paul? Am I supposed to be impressed or scared? It really worries me that that the liberals are getting behind Ron Paul. I think he‘s Obama’s Ross Periot. All you rabid Ron Paul zombies, if he doesn’t get the nomination, will you vote for who did? Or will you either vote for Obama, or abstain from voting, which is the same as voting for Obama?

As for Perry’s border stance. I heard a good “excuse, argument, whatever you want to call it” on his lack of handling of the border as governor. It‘s the federal government’s job to secure the border. He has kept out because it’s not a state issue. I’m torn about that. I live in Texas, though I’m not a native and have only been here about 6 years. I know my husband got a job within 2 months of moving here. Will Perry handle the border the same as President as he has as governor? He says not, because it’s a federal issue. I think there’s a lot of misinformation about Perry, and I’m still weeding through it. I haven’t listened to any of the debates. I do, however lean towards Herman Cain.

Ron Paul Spokeswoman Rachel Mills says “Code Pink is actually leaning more in the direction of Ron Paul’s beliefs and politics”, saying the Congressman “is in favor of coalition-building with anti-war groups.”

I was happy to see that they told the truth about the results. A lot of people still to this day do not realize that MSNBC is MSM and all about the global agenda. And a I am sure a good number of the pollsters were Independent or republican who tuned into MSNBC to watch online or make a vote. I was awakened to the MSM during the TEA PARTY emergence. Ron Paul was right – we should protect the border, but not overdo this. Better to ban welfare to illegals and citizenship status to their children. And stop visas to muslim students and refugees.

When dollar collapses and FEMA comes to your house to confiscate your guns, gold and draft your children – you might wish you have a free passage abroad.

Remember how Japanese-Americans wished they can flee during WW2 instead of going to concentration camps.

It’s insane that Obama did an $800 Billion stimulus package and didn’t finish the border fence.

If he truly wants to make a deal with Republicans for a new stimulus package, it should require revoking the backdoor amnesty he passed last week and providing more money for deporting illegals. Most people think Obama doesn’t even want a deal. He just wants to propose something that he knows will be rejected so that he can blame Republicans. If he wants a deal though, a crackdown on ALL illegal immigrants should be part of the deal.

You know, I lived in Texas for about 15 years so I also am familiar with the governance there. It is a state so big and populated that it could be likened to governing a nation. Perry has done well overall.

I ‘m still open about all the candidates at this point, and am not spending my time slamming any of them, especially since I think we should keep our eye on the ultimate goal. But it seems to me that every time I open a Blaze article on Perry that there are an inordinate number (compared with other sites) of people blasting Perry at every turn. Which leads me to believe that either liberals or rabid Ron Paulites are spending a bunch of time trying to rather inarticulately and brashly bash on Perry.

Everyone should sit back a bit, keep an open mind, and see how all these candidates pan out.

There’s a third possibility. Busineses in Texas are hiring Mexicans crossing the border in violation of the law.

Listen, blame it on Obama, blame it on not having a big wall. But Mexicans aren’t crossing the border to go to Disneyland. They’re crossing the border because they can come to Texas and make money from employers in Texas, who want to maximize profits by hiring Mexican nationals, paying them below minimum wage, not paying taxes for them and not worrying about insuring their safety. They don’t come here for fun, they come here to make money from unscrupulous employers. If businesses stoped hiring them, they’d stop coming.

But, of course, Republicans will never crack down on businesses. They know the cheap labor increases their profits. So they are going to ask for a wall (which they know the US will never build, because it’s a stupid waste of money) and blame Obama. So they have they have their cake and eat it too.

It is time to get tough and send them back to where they came from. No, to those who were born here, they can go home with their parents. Whatever it takes to secure our borders, get rid of the violent drug cartel, let’s do it and Mexico can understand that we do not want them here. Americans can quit being huge drug addicted society and that would cause there to be no demand for drugs. I want Arizona to be brought forward as a hero who stood up against the Federal Government. Two years ago Perry came out dead-set against the border fence.
He opposed ending the practice of “anchor babies,” a process that just about guarantees Mexico victory in the on-going demographic war. And, he fights for the right of illegal aliens to be educated for free in the United States (one of the reasons California is broke.)
Perry also championed the NAFTA highway, linking Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, which many believe is a precursor to the North American Union.
He talks the talk on immigration enforcement, but seems to limit deportation of illegal aliens to those who commit other crimes.
In 2005 Gov. Perry borrowed the idea for a citizen Internet Patrol from American Border Patrol but he failed to follow-through. His $250 million “Texas Border Security Council” boondoggle earned him a “pants on fire” award. His policies will erase the border.

Perry leads on some issues but not on the big one:

@Stuck_In_CA Are they (the democrats) paying you per reply or per sentence to bash Perry?

This field is so wide open! I think Michelle Bachmann and Newt Gingrich came out ahead tonight but I also think the media hacks set both Romney and Perry up for failure and both held their ground!
Those are our four. I like any of these candidates -all well capable- over this administration but we will have to wait and see who our front-runner will be. Good luck to all of them! One goal. Unseat this administration!

i agree. The questioners had one main goal – to make Perry and Romney to look bad and go after one another. They didn’t do this very much to the others. They also wanted to make all the Republican candidates look like mean people who hate the poor. I think both Perry and Romney did as well as possible in avoiding the pitfalls the questioners wanted and that the group as a whole did a good job of disputing the attempt to paint them as uncompassionate.

I must remind the learned readers and posters of The Blaze of one simple fact:

REAGAN STARTED OUT AS A DEMOCRAT.

Reagan is now one of our individual heroes. On that template, I think Perry can unscrew our situation. Worked wonders for Reagan, having seen the power and corruption of the Dark Side, he knows what needs to be fixed.

Who cares? I used to be a dem too long ago (sins of my parents but I forgive them, God rest their souls). Nothing wrong with changing parties as long as you commit once you make the change. Perry started out as a democrat as well and I think Ron Paul did a stint a a libertarian.

Yep, that’s what we like a Perry… At least he has some stones. I suspect Obama has a glass jaw like most Narcissists and will wet his pants when confronted head on.

Rick did well but the nomination will go to either Romney or Palin. VP Rubio.

Rick Perry Wanted Bi-National Health Insurance With Mexico
…Rick Perry’s remarks to the Border Summit on Aug, 21st 2001: …Legislation authored by border legislators Pat Haggerty and Eddie Lucio establishes an important study that will look at the feasibility of bi-national health insurance. This study recognizes that the Mexican and U.S. sides of the border compose one region, and we must address health care problems throughout that region. That’s why I am also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to individuals living on the Mexican side of the border….

As the Republican governor of Texas, Rick Perry has walked both sides of the immigration line, at one point implementing a Texas-style Dream Act that some say was the model for the national act. On the other hand, he’s also pushed for local police to have more authority to check on people’s immigration status.
One of those positions will play like gangbusters in the GOP primary and the other one will appeal to Latino voters in the general election if he gets that far. For both groups, though, there is that other Rick Perry who will always be on their minds.
In fact, Somos Republican leader Dee Dee Garcia Blase has told The Colorado Independent that Latinos have long considered Perry a friend, but that his recent positions have begun alienating Latinos.
Talking Points Memo sums up Perry’s Latino problem or immigration problem eloquently noting how swiftly he has gone from Latino hero as a new governor to Latino enemy as a long-serving governor with his eye on a bigger prize…

It is obvious you only post replies to those who say something favorable about Perry.

Why don’t you tell us who you support?

In a recent interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader, Governor Rick Perry reiterated his support for the Texas DREAM Act, a bill he signed in 2001. The bill signed by Governor Perry allows illegal aliens who have lived in Texas for three years to receive in-state tuition. Due to the Texas DREAM Act, qualifying illegal aliens attending the University of Texas, for example, pay $10,000 less in tuition costs, an amount that is thrown on the backs of taxpaying citizens in Texas.
In 1996, Representative Lamar Smith of Texas authored the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. Rep. Smith’s bill clearly prohibits states from offering in-state tuition benefits for illegal aliens, unless offered to all U.S. citizens and legal immigrants as well.
The Texas DREAM Act of 2001 that Governor Rick Perry signed and supports, is clearly in violation of Rep. Smith’s Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.
Please send a fax to Governor Perry and ask him to reiterate his position on the Texas DREAM Act, and more importantly, to put taxpaying Texans first.”
