Perry Gets Pounded Day After Debate

Consensus is hard to find in Washington, D.C. these days, but a strong consensus has been found after the GOP debate in Orlando Thursday: TX Gov. Rick Perry struggled.
Talking Points Memo (TPM) has pulled together a video of conservatives pounding Perry in the aftermath of the debate. Critiques range from his delivery, to his demeanor, to his debate preparation. Many seem to think that Perry — who has been the frontrunner in the young presidential race — took a massive hit:
TPM has also aggregated some of the criticisms:
Bill Kristol published an editorial at the Weekly Standard, stating the magazine’s official reaction to the debate: “Yikes.” Kristol negatively reviewed nearly all the candidates — pining for Chris Christie to save the GOP by entering the race. As for Perry’s performance, Kristol writes: “But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him.”
Rich Lowry wrote on Fox News: “A few weeks ago, the question was how far and fast he would ascend; now, after his third debate, it’s how much he’ll drop.” he also wrote on National Review: “I really thought Perry would get better, but he hasn’t.”
RedState’s Erick Erickson wrote late Thursday night: “Rick Perry was a train wreck in this debate. He flubbed his response on Romney flip-flopping. He got the first question tonight and stumbled. Good grief.”
Michelle Malkin is especially shocked:
The cringe-worthiest moment, by a hair, was when Perry botched what should have been his most potent attack on Mitt Romney’s chronic flip-flopping. As I noted on Twitter when it happened, any random high schooler at the CPAC conference in Washington could have done better than this.
If this is how Perry’s going to take Obama on in debates, we’re in trouble. Someone inject him with some Red Bull and a dash of Herman Cain’s personality.Dana Perino, the former Bush White House press secretary and current Fox News commentator, had this to say:This was like a 3rd date with Perry – where you decide if you’ll go on a 4th…would you?
And Ann Coulter, in a rare moment of genuine wit and brevity, summed it up: “Governor Perry losing debate with his own tongue.”
Pete Wehner piled on:
I hope Governor Rick Perry enjoyed his six-week run as the front runner of the GOP field, because it’s now over.
Perry has had three debates. His first was mediocre. His second debate performance was weaker than his first, and last night’s debate was worse than either of the first two. Whatever strengths the Texas governor has, debating is not one of them, for the reasons covered by my colleagues. He comes across as unprepared, sometimes, unsteady, and at times his answers border on being incoherent.
So did Jonathan Tobin:
Rick Perry entered tonight’s Republican presidential debate with an opportunity to reverse the image of him as a poor speaker that had slowed the momentum of his campaign. Instead, he reinforced it. Perry may have started out strong, but once again, his energy and focus seemed to leave him in the second hour of the debate. He clearly flubbed a chance to nail Romney on health care as well as his other changes of position.
The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin wondered if Perry’s “collapse” means conservatives will finally see Chris Christie enter the race.
Ouch. This all doesn’t look good for Perry. How do you think he did? Weigh in below.

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 3:31pmThe Republicans are making the same mistake the Democrats made with John Kerry. George Bush should have been easily defeated but they put some dopey, unelectable, party hack up against him and they lost. I’m sure among Democrats, Kerry was a wonderful choice but to the rest of America he was a faux military hero, flip-flopper and unremarkable career politician. The current group of Republican candidates may not be as offensive but just as unremarkable. At this rate, we will wake up the day after the election and wonder how Obama was just given four more years to ruin the country.

1. Herman Cain
2. Ron Paul
3. Michelle Bachmann
All the others are nothing more than, more of the same bending to the left and destruction of the United States.
Only 2 of the names really amount to a steadfast determination for forcing this Country back on the Republics right track, and they are Cain and Paul. Michelle doesn’t do her homework and trips all over herself. Her heart might be right, but her head is not and it shows through lack of standing on principles founded on facts.
Ron Paul best exemplifies my sentiments politically, but Herman Cain brings the best business mind to the table along with right values.
I really have no idea what Beck saw in Perry that was so intriguing. Just a little research shows he deficient of right thinking ideals and principles. He’s led by emotions, not facts and truth. That makes him no better than Obama.

He doesn’t understand how to put together legislation, how to work with congressional law makers, a state legislature, hasn’t struggled to balance the budget constraints of a city or state while being criticized by constituents, hasn’t had to deal with the National Guard or sending troops into harms way while dealing with handling a natural disaster! Posted on September 23, 2011 at 7:50pmPerry supports the TTC (Trans-Texas Corrider). That’s the highway from hell (Mexico) to as far north as Oklahoma. His in-state tuition for illegals is sickening.
This guy not an American Patriot, and here are some other initiatives he has supported:
NAFTA- that is the American job-robbing agreement with Mexico. This gem is modeled after the European Common Market. That led to the now so-sucessful European Union, and makes the case that there is substance to the argument that a North American Union is planned. Perry even said, in a 2002 speech, how he was the first state official to support NAFTA. Back to the TTC for a second…if you strengthen trade with Mexico, would you not have a plausible argument for the TTC?
Evan as late as 2009 (and after the TTC was said to be dead), Perry said “The key is that we have to go forward and build the infrastructure.”
Cintra, from Spain, wanted to build the roads, in return for toll revenue. Did I mention that eminent domain would take possibly thousands of acres of private property? Oh, that siezed private property would go to……you guessed it, Cintra!
Still think Perry is your man?
In 2008- Perry supported first Rudy Giuliani (who is pro-abortion/pro gay-marriage) before endorsing McCain. Neither candidate could be considered a true Conservative. Remember, now, that Perry was first a Dem.
Perry likes PPP (Public Private Partnerships). Look that up sometime.

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 10:09pmMitt Romney showed how prepared, qualified, sincere and competent he is to be our President. His answers were sharp, thoughtful, clear, concise and he answered the questions. He also showed that he has great intelligence, tremendous wit and has a very solid grasp on the issues. None of the others came close to being as specific and knowledgeable or clear headed as Mitt. He is clearly in a league of his own.
Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is very poorly thought out and if implemented it will not be many years that it will have evolved into 18-18-18. It may work fine when first implemented and while I think he is sincere in his intentions one day he will roll over in his grave to see what it would morph into given that we have politicians not angels running our government. Maybe in a perfect world it could work but anyone who thinks for a minute that those percentages will not go up are totally naive.

He already rolled out his version of Obamacare in Massachusettes. See how the two are similar? Same ideas. One party, controlled by NWO Elitists.
Rick Perry is in the race for two reasons. One, Michelle Bachman’s blunders were putting Ron Paul into the number 2 position for the GOP nomination. Secondly, polls show Ron Paul running better against Obama than any other GOP candidate, it’s true. This panicked the Global Elite because Ron Paul will set back their agenda 50 yrs if elected. They think they can see the end game fulfilled in this lifetime, a one world government utopia…for them!
The first debate was nothing more than a scripted bunch of BS. Perry shot up in the polls and this took attention off of Paul, Cain, and the others. Now that most mindless Sheeple fell for it, time to diminish Perry so the cherry picked winner of next year’s election–Mitt Romney–can be President.
I’m registered Independent but will change soon to Republican so I can vote FOR either Ron Paul or Herman Cain. I like Cain, but Paul is most hated by the Global Elite which makes me like him a little better.

Your argument falls flat and makes you look totally foolish. Ron Paul is a total moron. Anyone who thinks we can just put our faces in the sand and ignore Iran is absolutely crazy. Ron Paul is totally unelectable. His supporters are almost entirely made up of young people and druggies and he will be killed by Obama in a general but his nomination will not happen because in the real world which you choose to fantasize does not exist, the GOP electorate would never be foolish enough to nominate Paul. Get over it already.
BTW Mitt Romney a hand picked establishment candidate! really! How do you explain all of the anyone but Mitt movement then? The truth is the shadow government and insiders do not at all feel comfortable with Mitt Romney. Mitt has too high of principles and cannot be bought. He took exactly $1.00 per year salary for a total of $4.00 for his entire political career. Gave his entire salary as President of the Olympic committee to charity. Gave all of the proceeds of all of his books to charity. He cannot be bought, if you knew anything about him being a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you would know that the Book of Mormon comes out very very strongly against secret groups like the CFR, Bilderbergers and shadow government groups and fraternities. You may be right about Rick Perry but are way wrong about Mitt Romney or your thinking for one minute that Ron Paul has a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-
Pauls views on foreign policy in my opinion are rock solid according to founding intent. He’s not an isolationist, he’s a non interventionalist, and that’s the right ideal. We should never be the worlds police force. Our Military was born to preserve our sovereignty and protect our essential interests. The Military takes the same oath of office relating to defending and upholding the CONSTITUTION of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic. Who gives 2 shakes of a lambs tail what Iran does. If they attack us, we annihilate them with the full might of our Military’s arsenal.
Anyway, this is the Founding ideals that should never have been abridged by megalomaniancs like Wilson, FDR, Truman and Kennedy/Johnson, the Bush’s HW and W.

The left wants a quick death, the right wants death in doses.
Screw them all, I want the Politician who best exemplifies Founding intent and wants to restore this Nation to same power that gave rise to America being the greatest Nation ever on the face of the earth. We’re not going to get that with anything on the left because they are all wasted in socialism and outright communism. We’re not going to get it with old right wingers like Boehner, McCain, Graham and a bunch of other “republicans”. To save the Country it’s going to take a hard right turn back to the Constitution. Are you kidding me?
“After 9/11, (people said) ‘Oh yeah, it’s those very bad people who hate us,’ but 15 of (the hijackers) came from Saudi Arabia,” said Paul. “One of the reasons they attacked us, is we propped up this Sharia government and the fundamentalists hated us for it.”
Paul is totally clueless. They attacked us because we were propping up a “Sharia government” and “the fundamentalists hated us for it”? Since when do Islamic “fundamentalists” disapprove of Sharia governments? They attacked us, according to Osama bin Laden, because, among other reasons, we were in his view “prevent[ing] our people from establishing the Islamic Shariah,” not propping up a Sharia state.
Paul cited a University of Chicago professor, Robert Pape, whose research argues that most of the suicide terrorism in the past 30 years was caused by military occupation. Pape’s research, funded by the Defense Department, shows that suicide bombings in Afghanistan went up one third after the Obama administration surged 30,000 troops into the country.

Gingrich and Clinton were on oppositen sides politically but good pals privately who openly talked about their affairs with each other! During Clinton’s scandal, publicly Gingrich criticized Clinton for the affair. Clinton got tired of it and called Gingrich to the White house, told him to stop criticizing his affair with Monica or he was going to go public about Gingrich’s affairs. Gingrich left his wife and married Callista, one of the women he was having an affair with. Ron Paul is the only person who will withdraw the US of A from the UN and WTO.
Ron Paul wrote HJ 46, a Constitutional Amendment strengthening the 14th Amendmendment which specifically denies US citizenship to individuals born in the United States to parents who are neither United States citizens nor persons who owe permanent allegiance to the United States. This would fix the illegal alien problem.
Paul also follows the Austrian school of economics ideology – the exact opposite of Keyenesianism that has brought our country down with its bailouts, ‘stimulus’ and QE’s.
I’m praying that Americans wake up, stop going for looks and telepromptor reading skills, sees Ron Paul has our Founder’s heart beating within and votes for America this time.
A vote for Ron Paul IS a vote for Ameria.

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 2:31pmYou know what is funny about Perry is that he is better than Romney but he doesn’t get the issues. He talks a decent game (out of the two) but doesn’t really get what he is saying. For example – the instate tuition breaks for illegals is not consistent with small government and less spending. The forced vaccines are not consistent with small gov – yet Perry truly in his heart believes in these things so he tries to support them. He doesn’t realize he is a walking contradiction.
Either way Ron Paul is clearly and firmly in second and will be in first soon enough.

I find all overly religious people to be cooky. The cookiness is admirable when it is a private motivation, but gets very tired when they try to impose their beliefs on me. Mormons are not any weirder than any other American Christians. Actually, I find their nationalistic invented religion a fresh Americana type phemonenon, a cool folkloric thing.

As long as they believe that Christ is the Lord and the only way to everlasting life, the rituals and traditions don’t bother me too much. Travel the world and you will see some really crazy stuff being carried out by Christians, it doesn’t discount or question their faith, nor should you. Jesus the original Christian actually practiced Jewish rituals (gasp)!

What is wrong with Perry saying that children of illegal immigrants who have lived in Texas most of their educational lives should qualify for ‘in state’ tuition rates? They are residents of the state in the truest sense of the word–they reside there, and have for a long time.
Having said that, I currently live in a Western European country where showing my legal permit to reside and work there, my passport, my proof of health insurance, my work contract, last payment slip, annual tax statement, report from the central police department, etc. is standard for all interactions with banks, schools, doctors, dentists, landlords, police officers, customs officials, etc.
So yes, some control is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, the world will become Chaos.

Freedom is the bigger picture and is hard to comprehend for some. Death to Tyranny. Perry has shown tremendous leadership and has taken responsibility for his wrongdoings. Perry made an excellent point last night about his perceived issue of vaccines that I think he was implying that people need to comprehend the value of opt out, rather than ‘permission’ to do so (opt in) which would be timely and may cost lives. I don’t think people understand that. Rick Perry has stood his ground well and is still my choice for being our next president.

She has always ran an unconventional campaign – since she is unconventional to most politicians and that‘s why she’s so popular among the Consvs. She knows what she’s doing. She’s waiting to make sure and see what pans out. People already know all about her – it‘s like she’s been “out there” since she ran for VP and she’s already been vetted beyond reason. Also what others don‘t think of is that she’s very devout Christian & believes strongly in the power of prayer, etc. So maybe she feels God hasn’t given her the “go ahead” yet..and who‘s to say that isn’t right? It seems more ppl are thinking more favorably of her now than they have before – seeing that they’re not crazy about our present selection that are “electable”. Ignore all that “unelectable” nonsense. Plus things will probably change & don‘t be surprised if it’s not Obama that runs but Hillary — which would change some minds to her also.
