Perry on Obama’s Use of Executive Privilege: ‘If That’s Not Nixonian, Then I Don‘t Know What Is’

Texas Governor and one-time Republican presidential contender Rick Perry on Sunday accused President Barack Obama of engaging in a “Nixonian” cover-up with regard to Operation Fast and Furious.

Obama asserted executive privilege last week over documents sought in a congressional investigation into the flawed gun-running program, just hours before the House Oversight Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for not turning the documents over.

“We’ve had over 300 Mexican nationals killed directly attributable to this Fast and Furious operation where they brought those guns into Mexico, and a former Marine and a Border Patrol agent by the name of Brian Terry lost his life,” Perry said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.“ ”I mean, with Watergate, you had a second-rate burglary. And now you have a president who is using his executive privilege to keep that information from Congress. If that’s not Nixonian, then I don’t know what is.”

Rick Perry, Thank you for speaking the truth of this debacle. The Great State of Texas is having to deal with this illegal gun running mess, approved by the Atty. Gen. Thanks to those involved, who’ve taken the law into their own hands, and are trying to cover it up. So, a dead border patrol agent is of no concern to you people in D.C. Just a fine example of putting our country in danger of those who kill their own and ours too, due to our stupid greedy mistakes.

We all know Perry is as dumb as a post, once we heard him speak. Before, he lead the Tea Party vote for President of this United States of American, our country, our home. But then he had to stay stuff in the debates and the even the Tea Party said, “Wow, is he an idiot” and even they, not the best and brightest for certain, realized this guy wasn’t qualified to run the country.

Just as Perry forgot what federal agency he would eliminate, he forgot – if he ever knew – President Bush’s use of executive authority. I guess Rove is floating an idea through his dumbest pawn to see what happens.

      1. Not guns with trackers like Bush’s program.
      2. Guns entirely fitting the profile of guns the Obama administration wants banned. Incidentally, not the guns the cartels would find desirable.
      3. Purpose, that which Holder and Obama must keep from the public. To allow for killings to happen with these weapons so that it can be blamed on US gun sellers.
      4. Obama never expected the guns to be to be traced back to the stimulus program, and likely his direct orders.
      5. If you oppose something, do it honestly, Obama is a snake in the grass of the first order. I have never seen anything like it. Wake up everyone. It is much WORSE than you think it is.

Your post reminded me starting Aug 1st, here in Montana, law enforcement statewide will have access to the insurance status during a traffic stop or accident investigation. By 2K13, MVD and county treasurers will be able to verify insurance status during vehicle titling & registration transactions. Montana usually has to “catch-up“ with the other states so could be a ”normal-thing” with other states. Minimum liability insurance is required..it’s the law.Right now I carry my “papers”(card) that shows I have insurance. I have never had a traffic-ticket in my life but/ and carry “papers of registration & insurance card” and need-less-to-say, a Mt. driver’s license….I am complying with THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MONTANA. Hmmm Why the big-deal of showing ID at the voting-booth…Oh wait….(hit my forehead & saying “I forgot”) and not “I should have had a V-8″ LOL

Because the reports would compromise ongoing investigations and the security of current undercover agents.

You only use executive privilege when there is something to hide. Not “something to hide” in the sense of shady dealings, but “something to hide” in the sense of literally having something that is better not publicly known.

I mean really. Blaze members fault him for “leaking confidential information” when he actually doesn‘t AND for not leaking confidential information when he shouldn’t. It‘s a clear case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Please re-read my post if you have any time left from trashing the Republicans.

      1. I did not state that the hybrid grass caused the poisoning.
      2. I stated that it was hybrid grass that contained poison where it was first discovered.
      3. I also stated nearby ranches also tested positive indicating a larger problem.
      4. The poison was identified to be cyanide not the grass itself.

My point was that PERRY might have a bigger problem at home than B.H.O.
with the chance of irrigation runoff into the ground water etc.

The Fast & Furious scandal makes Watergate & the Nixon cover-up look like child’s play. Then you had a B&E and a cover-up. Now you have multiple murders, as a result of Holders’ brain child, including that of Law Officer Brian Terry. These are capital crimes. Any & all involved are accessories to these murders. Do I need to remind anyone of the punishments that fit these crimes? On top of murder charges, I think there would also be treason charges applicable as well. Hang ‘em high I say!

If people do not know what “Watergate” was – it was a group of Nixon operatives broke in to Watergate
Hotel where the Democratic Party was to gain info regarding election plans. Nixon was NOT aware
prior to this Breakin – but made the mistake of trying to “cover-up” for his people. THAT WAS A
CRIME. He was Forced to resign under pending impeachment proceedings. NOTHING COMPARED
      TO THIS FIASCO!!!!

How many people were killed because of Watergate, again? Fast and Furious is much worse. Spying on the oppositions campaign and arming drug cartels is not even comparable. If anything, Perry candy-coated things.

I usually watch Fox news, but the other day I watched msnbc. I forget the man who hosted this show, but he was putting down Republicans for going against Obama on his exutive order. Saying all kinds of unbeliveable things about the Republicans. Also his guest was doing the same thing.
What is wrong with these people? It is so easy to see that Obama is hiding something. I hope that the Americans who vote as democracts can see thru this.

If you haven‘t read Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”, then do so. These tactics, like you describe on msnbc are exactly from the rule-book used by the new democrat party. Obama taught these methods at the U of Chicago. Hilary’s thesis was on the book. at the end of the Carter administration boxes and boxes of copies of this book were discovered by the incoming Reagan administration.

Even the term “community organizer” derives from this book.

Alinsky, by the way was an associate of Al Capone and Capone’s hit-men. Even Wikipedia washes this man’s history, describing him as some kind of “genius”.

I’ve been doing what I can in blogging about this – need to get this info out and do what “we the people” can do b/c unfortunately, the people we elected to protect us …aren’t and/or won’t….“we” are the army. We actually have our “enemy” in the White House and in all the important depts. (DOJ, etc.) in charge and doing everything to make their lifelong agenda for ruining America come true – with international help. Our “leadership” (LOL) are cowards and career politicians who are putting career before country and/or don’t accept the dangers involved.

Nixon, for the most part, in the Watergate scandal was guilty of white collar crime. This administration is up for true felonious activity. There is no room for executive privilege when the government is mired in this kind of wrongdoing. They MUST be accountable for this travesty.

Nixon’s men essentially pulled a Walter Cronkite, nothing more. They broke into the Watergate’s DNC election HQs to gain access to intelligence. Walter Cronkite actually bugged the RNC during the 1952 convention, to gain access to intelligence. Was it wrong? Of course, both were wrong. But, their actions certainly did not get anybody killed, or release more than some 2,000 weapons to murdering drug cartels.
The gun walking tactic, Operation Wide Receiver allowed some 300 weapons to temporarily walk, but under controlled conditions. Each time, the Mexican government played a part in this operation and were aware of each of these transactions. After so many arrests, the cartel members began to spot the tracking devices hidden inside the weapons and began to remove them. At this point, the ATF and their Mexican counterparts stopped the operation.
Fast and Furious just had ATF members in selected areas along the U.S./Mexican border to allow the weapons to cross into Mexico freely, and the agents even interfered to stop local authorities. Essentially, the DOJ, and participants in the ATF armed the enemy of the Mexican government within it’s borders for a reason. To gain more control with the behest of the unwitting public for even more gun control…2nd Amendment be damned.
The DOJ and possibly the WH have committed an Act Of War against the Sovereign Nation of Mexico. Why do I say the WH may be involed? Because 0bama’s declaration of Executive Privilege says he knew some

As for the Tamara Holder and others blaming the Bush Administration that this happened under Bush, or that the tactic happened under Bush is nothing more than a feint. Law Enforcement, city, country, state, and federal do let a variety of ‘things’ like drugs, and all sorts of contraband ‘walk’ but in a controlled atmosphere to assist in the capture and conviction of even more of the criminals. This is nothing unusual at all. Just watch any cop movie from the ’60s to today. From The French Connection forward. These movies, okay loosely based in reality, illustrate the same theme. So, this was not an idiotic tactic dreamed up by the Bush WH. It was a feasible, and successful operation that brought many to justice for their actions, and all weapons were recovered either by our agents, or Mexican agents.
Thank God, for at least one whistle blower. The next administration needs to install new heads of a number of agencies who will reinstate this guy, and fire anybody who even hints at messing with him. These agencies need to be cleaned out regardless of their political affiliation.

Pat Grey had a radio show with Edd Hendy broadcast by KSEV. His opinion of Mr. Perry were less than complementary. Since his employment by Mr. Beck his opinion has not been reiterated. Ask Mr. Grey yourself if your require some confirmation.
“Similarly”, ask Mr. Perry about his involvement in the TTC when he, with the complicity of TXDOT tried to ram the imminent domain travesty down Texas’s throat. With the full compliance of illegal “immigrant” hiring prime contractors. Perry likes to grandstand about borders but has and will do nothing. Mr. Nixon was not so, shall we say, weak. Mr. Perry was derailed by the people of Texas. Mr. Nixon was railroaded by the liberal media. Both were wrong but Perry personally went against the people of Texas. Mr. Nixon went against the democrats.

Rayblue… What are your suggestions for relieving the congestion on I-35 and I-45 in light of the fact that you can hardly move up and down the state anymore. High speed commuter rail as touted by Shirley Jackson Lee? That will require acquisition of right-of-way via imminent domain and not solve the problem of trucks needing to get to and from the coast and border. Something has to be done soon and nobody but Perry has seen far enough ahead to address it. But….he should not have outsourced the toll road’s investment or construction but leave that to locals. Your thoughts?
