GREENVILLE, S.C. (The Blaze/AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is taking a pause from partisan campaigning in South Carolina to pray for President Barack Obama’s safety and wisdom.
Perry spoke Tuesday night at a large, Greenville, S.C. prayer gathering called “The Response” — a spinoff of the event that Perry held in Texas last year. He made no direct mention of the GOP presidential contest or of Saturday’s primary during his 10 minutes on stage.
“His agenda’s not a political agenda. He’s smarter than that. He’s smart enough, wise enough not to get involved with any political affiliation or any institution that man has made,” Perry said of God. “He understands the imperfections of those. But he’s calling all of us, Americans of all walks of life, to be here tonight to pray for this country.”

Perry also led a prayer in which he asked God to grant safety to “our president” and his family. He also said that “we pray that you light his way” in dealing with national issues.
“Father we pray for our president. We pray for his family. We pray for the safety of his family. We pray that you light his way,” he said. “We pray that you give him wisdom as he deals with the issues that he faces.”
Perry walked on stage without being introduced. Some in the audience seemed surprised to see him although his campaign had announced his plans earlier.
The Blaze previously covered a huge prayer rally that Perry led last year in Houston to pray for America.

Posted on January 18, 2012 at 1:55pmGov. Perry has been my first choice and I have been trying to give support wherever I can. I think he would be an excellent President, could run circles around Obama. And not just as an “anybody” because I don’t think “just anybody” will be able to defeat the Obama machine. Maybe we don’t deserve someone as fine as Gov. Perry at this point. We have become entirely too crude and unappreciative of finer values. Unfortunate.

He is pro-life, pro-military, pro-Israel, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-states rights, pro-constitution, pro-closing the borders, and pro-energy independence. He has never changed his positions, so he is not a flip flopper like some I could name.

Posted on January 18, 2012 at 6:49pmI wonder why people can not get it threw there head. Gingrich is a PROGRESSIVE! Ginrich said the best all time president is FDR!!! His model for president is Wilson, the man responsible for segregating the African Americans. (Lets not forget Wilson is also one of Obama’s favorite presidents). In this last debate he praised Andrew Jackson, the man responsible for the Trail of Tears in which thousands if Native Americans died. Andrew Jackson also broke countless american treaties when he stole the land from the Native Americans. When the Supreme Court ruled against him Andrew Jackson told them fine then you enforce it, and did what he wanted to do anyway. These are very bad Presidents that did bad things, and Gingrich wants to be like them.
That should be a NO on Gingrich from anyone that calls them self a conservative.

Posted on January 18, 2012 at 2:36pmWell said! We will have to see how the process works out as far as who our Candidate will be. Reagan had a late serge and he made a fool out of those that opposed him. I have a principle that comes from the Bible – if a person edifies himself – Run – if a person edifies God – trust him.
We have a serious problem in America – it appears that many are ate up with the dumb ass! I have made many mistakes in my life, but one thing I have found is that God has never let me down. A Man cannot fix America – only God can – I think God is trying to help us here – we need to do a little more listening to him.
Most have never seen the miracle working power of God – go to a place where God is needed most and you will see God at work with you won eyes. ie. a Leper camp in India – the whole world has cast these people out and God is healing the ones that come to him for healing in seconds right before your eyes.
Perry is correct – as hard as it is to do – the Bible instructs up to pray for our leaders to receive Godly wisdom. Perry needs to also pray that voters receive Godly wisdom when voting for a candidate – it has never failed me – I did not vote for Obama, Clinton or Carter. God changed my mine at the last moment and I voted for Reagan. Thank you Lord. My vote will ether go to Rick Santorum or Perry who I feel both have edified God. I’ll let God work out the details. he is much wiser than me. God Bless America!

You exhibit the traits that the majority of far left liberals, as well as atheists exhibit. The inability to speak well of anyone who they perceive to be a non elitest. I think it is because they feel bad about themselves so they step on others to make themselves look bigger. You also show the anger and frustration that is so common among this group, becuase there is no indication of wisdom in your words. Wisdom only comes from the ability to take a “leap of faith” in your thinking. I continue to pray for you, those who have no wisdom, as well as the president of the United States, and his family.

The system is rotten and perverted so badly, and the people are SO ignorant and misguided, it is a shame.

Posted on January 18, 2012 at 11:05amWhen the White House was being worked on past Prez. had to live in other quarters paid for by the taxpayer. When a state’s Gov. mansion has to be worked on the same logic applies. Those that disagree with this would imply they want the gov. they don’t like live in a tent and conduct state business at the picnic table. This is just not clear thinking. Texas has the best economy of any state in the union, if he were my gov. I would be proud of that fact, not upset with it. It is Perry that you must look to for that sucess, the facts are clear on this issue. Texas is a great state, with a great CEO, Rick Perry, the can do guy that we need to share his can do with the country in the White House. The rest of the guys are not as experienced as Perry. As far as Perry praying in public, I agree with DONNYB.

We actually have a Prayer Card at home with a prayer for the conversion of Barack Obama.
http://americanlifeleague.stores.yahoo.net/prforcoofprb.html
O, St. Paul the Apostle, great convert, preacher of truth and Doctor of the Gentiles, intercede for us to God, who chose you. You are a vessel of election, O St. Paul the Apostle, preacher of truth to the whole world. O God, You have instructed many nations through the preaching of the blessed apostle Paul. Let the power of St. Paul’s intercession bring about the conversion of President Barack Obama to the fullness of Your grace. Help the president to recognize the personhood of all human beings — born and preborn. Help us who venerate St. Paul’s memory this day to continually seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we work to spread Your truth.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord!
AMEN!!

Posted on January 18, 2012 at 9:58amDon’t forget that Peter was released during a public prayer meeting. It also says that where two or three are gathered in God’s name he is in the midst of it. It also says that that the Holy Spirit came upon the church at Jerusalem during a large prayer meeting. The prayer principle was to prevent people from loud street corner praying to draw attention to one’s self because if they pray to get attention they have their reward, because they got the attention they wanted. This principle would apply more to a showboating football player who dances around everytime he makes a good play, than a praying politician who believes what he says. Both great awakenings started with prayer revivals and I am for it.

A couple of points for you…
1. When we read the Bible we cannot read it like a book! It was not written like a Book neither can it be understood like a book!
2. Now, you have quoted Mat. 6.6. (An awesome scripture) you back up a few verses and read the verses leading up to verse 6 to understand the lesson that Jesus is teaching us.
It should be clear now that the lesson Jesus is teaching here is about the purpose of our heart and our motive. We should not appear before men to be seen of men or to gain the recognition of men.
Note for you: When making reference to scripture, you cannot interpret a single sentence from within itself. This is what is meant by 2 Peter 1:20 when he said scripture is not “of any private interpretation”

The Texans are paying for his campaign, is that illegal? No one asked me if I wanted to pay for him to run for President http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/12/27/texans-pay-perry-s-14m-security-bill
The Texans have to pay his rent every month which is $10,000.00 a month on his home. The Governor’s mansion is being repaired and of course we get to pay for that also. Yet, he’s charging taxpayers $10,000 a month for a 6,386-square-foot rental mansion in the West Austin hills with seven baths and $1,000 Neiman Marcus window coverings.
Can’t he afford to buy a home?

I‘m not sure who I’m going to vote for in the primary but if Perry were to win I wouldn’t have any issues voting for him in the general election. There‘s not one candidate left who wouldn’t be a huge improvement over Obama. (Actually there was never a candidate who wouldn’t be a huge improvement over Obama.)
Romney : I agree with Coulter that he would do well solving two of our biggest issues: immigration and obamacare.
Santorum: I think he’d bring a new family oriented approach to the highest office that would be good for our country.
Gingrich: Has some of the best ideas I’ve heard in years. Definitely the best debate performances.
Ron Paul: Would take a broad sword to the federal government.
Perry: Has the most experience dealing with illegal immigration and I think he would handle that issue better than anyone else.
They all have their weaknesses as well, as we all do. But I honestly won’t have any problems voting for any of them in the general election.
