Perry Tweets Jogging Photo Saying He’s Headed to S. Carolina

Did Rick Perry just pull a fast one?

After finishing a distant fifth in the Iowa caucuses, Texas Governor Rick Perry delivered a speech Tuesday night announcing that he is returning to Texas to reassess his campaign, which many commentators took as a concession that he was bowing out of the Republican presidential primary.

(Related: Perry blasts “quirky” Iowa)

However, the Texas governor released a tweet today from his official Twitter account insinuating that he may be heading to South Carolina to compete after all:

Rick Perry Tweet: Is He Still Running for President?

“And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State…Here we come South Carolina!!!” tweeted Perry.

The tweet came shortly before fellow Republican contender Minnesotta Rep. Michele Bachmann, who finished just behind him in the Iowa caucus, announced she was ending her campaign. Many speculated that Perry and Bachmann’s supporters would be up for grabs if they ended their campaigns after poor showings in Iowa, giving the opportunity for several anti-Romney factions to merge.

Stand back and watch the Governor of the great state of Texas stand tall, proud, and convicted. He’s a Constitutionalist & for smaller government, both of which we need desperately. Don‘t sit back and worry that he can’t beat Obama. Anybody can beat Obama if he has his support behind him, so…….. are you in or are you out, whether it’s Perry, or Romney, or Santorum? Stiffen that backbone and your convictions and love of this country and our freedoms and be heard!!!! Don’t sit back and “let it happen” to us. Fight!!!! Your vote and voice DO count!!!

If Perry wants any chance SC is his only hope. He needs to set up a firewall again Romney and Gingrich, who is winning it already. There is already momentum for Romney though, and Gingrich’s only target is Romney, he has said so himself: http://url2it.com/lcfm

Perry can only win by going positive, letting Gingrich attack Romney and being the alternative to those two. Perry can win it, but watch out because Romney has the momentum and Gingrich is just mad.

YEA! I’m more than happy that Rick Perry is staying in. We need an outsider in Washington D.C. who has conviction of his words and faith. Someday, Rick, I’m moving to Texas. The state I love, the people I love. Rick is smart! He reminds me of my Grandpa who lived all his life in Texas. He was a very fair and smart man. He hesitated often to think out the exact words he used, kinda like Rick.

When I was a child, I delighted in visiting all the men at the hwy. gas/store and they’d all sit in a circle out front sitting on turned up wooden coke crates, talking, and I’d watch my grandpa, his eyes flicking right to left and then he’d come up with a very profound statement that all enjoyed and knew was truthful. My grandpa was a fair man, treated his farm help with respect, took them to town on Saturdays so they could shop. Paid fair wages.

He refused to accept money to quit growing certain crops like most did. He just quit growing what
they didn’t want. That same program today pays out millions to farmers to not grow certain crops.
I have the same kind of pride in doing what’s right, and they don’t have to pay me for it

This is part of why I love Texas so much, the good memories of honest people and good people. Just hope I can make it back before I pass on, because that’s where my heart is. Don’t mess with Texas!

Afraid that Perry is going to find that an open borders, amnesty supporting, former democrat is going to fare worse in South Carolina than in Iowa. However, if is intent is to split conservative support so that Romney wins the primary there too, he couldn’t have picked a better strategy. Maybe Perry will be the window dressing on the Romney ticket just like Palin was the window dressing on the McCain ticket.

Texas has the fourth-highest poverty rate of any state, ties with Mississippi for the highest percentage of workers in minimum-wage jobs in 2010. It ranks first in adults without high school diplomas. (In 2008, 12 percent of Texans lacked high school diplomas, and rising.) Twenty-six percent of Texans have no health insurance — the highest percentage of medically uninsured residents of any state. Texas leads the nation in the percentage of children who lack medical insurance.

Really dude, that’s so lame. The strength of your opinion is exceeded only by your ignorance of the matters at hand. Unemployment rates in Texas: It wouldn’t be because of all the people coming here from, well, everywhere would it? And why are they coming? . . . JOBS, dummy. They come from all over the world , and yes of course, Mexico; they come from the other states (particularly California and the rust belt; and we STILL have a huge number of Katrina victims who got to Texas and liked it so never left. (Perry has been great in several crises) The huge influx impacts your vaunted numbers. Here’s some more info lest you take the obvious cheap shot at illegals and immigration:

Come on Mr. Hippo, finish your point. Are you trying to say that this is all Rick Perry’s fault? Is that it? Is that they point that you have on top of your little head? Aw, how cute that you can try to use statistics and loosely tie them to someone as if they are the sole party responsible. You little dickens you ! It’s not like there are many other people involved in the making of these things at all levels of government from local to federal that might just share a little piece of the blame? And yet, this state that you are trying to make look so bad has been the example that all other states have tried to emulate ! Wow ! Why would that be Mr. Hippo?

Yea and we have one of the largest populations in the country so obviously the count on many fronts will be higher. We also have one of the largest populations of illegal‘s in the country and I’m willing to bet they don’t buy health insurance. Who’s fault is it that Texas has a 12% non-diploma rate? Try the kids and their parents, what does the Governor have to do with it. You can‘t can’t make kids learn and you can’t make crappy teachers teach.

You forgot to mention we’ve created more jobs in the state in the last three year than most of the states combined. Oh yea, a minimum wage job right now is better than no job at all unless you are Cousin Eddy from Christmas Vacation that has not worked in 8 years because you are “holding out of management.”

Don’t put me down – I think the US should look more like Governor Perry’s vision.

I am very excited with this Texas miracle worker who has been described by some as the “real George W. Bush” because he is not a wussie on ideas like States rights/succession and right to carry handguns in Texas college campuses and classrooms.

Blacks and other diverse people love the way he speaks down to them from a heart as big as the prairie fires of last Summer.

For the Gay Voter, he is quite masculine, runs in spandex tights, and for the Republicans, he is tougher on Socialists than Governor Scott Walker and does not give a hoot about “who has a problem” with his ideas.

Hey again Vek……Well….let’s see… Rick Perry is just a Gov and NOT the President of the United States>>NOT YET :)< and considering that THIS President has been working AGAINST Gov Perry instead of working WITH and HELPING Gov Perry..well…you get the picture.

Gee…Ron Paul is from Texas too…considering YOUR logic WHY hasn't HE closed the border?? HE LIVES THERE??? Oh yeah….that's right…he's JUST a congressman.

      Better yet….read about it for yourself…..*wink :)

      Gov.Rick Perry On Security
      http://www.rickperry.org/issues/national-security/

While advancing our interests abroad, Perry believes it is equally important to defend our interests at home by securing our border.

As president, Perry will substantially increase manpower, technology and fencing along the border to protect the American homeland and stop illegal immigration. This strategy has proven effective in Texas, where Gov. Perry has directed nearly $400 million in state tax dollars to do the federal government’s job of securing the border.

Perry will deploy thousands of National Guardsmen to the border until a sufficient number of border patrol agents can be hired and trained. He will order federal officials to expedite construction of strategic fencing, especially in high traffic areas where manpower alone is insufficient to do the job. And he will make greater use of unmanned aerial assets to gather reliable, real-time intelligence that law enforcement can immediately act

      Clara88: This is for Vechorik

When Rick Perry made the statement about not closing all the border, I’m sure he was talking about
Falcon Lake, which 1/2 of it lies on the Mexican border, so how does anyone expect to put a fence
down the center of a lake? Remember the young man who was gunned down on Falcon Lake? They
found a body on the Mexican side, but they have to retrieve it for us.

This is why we can’t fence the entire border, the lake stops any fencing, but this is why Perry said we must have many boots on the ground for the areas we cannot fence.
      Go Perry, make my day.
