Photographer Brutally Attacked at State Sen. News Conference

Georgia state Sen. Robert Brown drew fire this week when he quipped that the state GOP was filled with KKK members. Now he’s under fire again after a person who accompanied him to a press conference to clear up those comments brutally attacked a local photo journalist:

The local paper The Telegraph says the Senator denies being associated with the attacker, despite walking into the press conference building with him:

A man apparently accompanying state Sen. Robert Brown to a hurriedly called Thursday news conference attacked and injured Telegraph photographer Woody Marshall at Macon City Hall, prompting conflicting stories from those involved.

Reached shortly after the incident, Brown said, “The person in question is not associated with me. I’ve got one person on my staff, and that was not him. This is not something I would be associated with. I did not physically see the altercation. I do not know the person, nor is he associated with me. Other than that, I’ve no specific comment on this matter.”

But Brown clearly knew the assailant’s father, and the assailant himself said he was acting in defense of Brown.

Brown, a Macon Democrat and the Senate minority leader, called the news conference at noon to issue a statement about his dispute with state Rep. Alan Peake, R-Macon, about inflammatory but vague comments Brown made during the taping of a TV show earlier in the week. He walked into City Hall with two men trailing a few feet behind. Serving to muddle events further, all three are named Brown: a middle-aged man in glasses and a dark jacket, later identified as C.J. Brown; and a very large younger man in a red T-shirt — C.J. Brown’s son Malik El Brown, 28.

C.J. Brown said they’re not actually related to the senator and don’t work for him, but he failed to explain why they showed up at the news conference together.

But C.J. Brown admitted that the pair regularly attends events with the Senator to “help Robert out.” That help, he said, required physical security because the photographer “blew right past us and hit Robert” as the Senator was trying to quickly leave the press conference.

But that’s not what photographer Woody Marshall said happened.

“As I was trying to go around Brown, he pushed me — gave me a hip check to the left,” Marshall said. “The next thing I know, the guy in the red shirt was on me.”

When the attacker, Malik Brown, was reached for comment, he defended his actions. “I did what I did because I thought he was trying to attack Mr. Brown. I really don’t have much to say. I’m driving,” he said.

Marshall gave an on-camera interview to the Telegraph shortly after the incident:

UPDATE:

Malike Brown has been arrested by Macon police. Officials have not yet detailed the charges against him.

He’s a Democrat. He can do anything he wants with little fall out on the lamestream media. Now had he been a Republican, he would probably lead the news on CBS, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and Robert Gibbs would hold a press conference about how how Republicans need to be civil.

See this is my point exactly, once again an irrelavelan stroy is used to encite your rage toward the democratic party. This HAS NOTHING to do with politics yet it further supports your view point so you love it. Demonstrate this lack of coverage in MSM.

“I did what I did because I thought he was trying to attack Mr. Brown. I really don’t have much to say.

THIS CANT BE TRUE BECAUSE IT DOESNT SUPPORT MY VIEW, RIGHT? YET THE GUY WHO STOMPED THE GIRLS HEAD DURING THE ELECTION WAS JUST DEFENDING HIMSELF RIGHT? HYPOCRIT.

      Not EVERYTHING is about politics.

Kind of like how the Tea Party has nothing to do with racism, yet the media perpetuates this view because they can’t argue the facts?

Do you want some examples? I can head over to Huffington, MSNBC, CNN, ABC and find some links. How about links from Obama’s site? Or even comments he has made?

It looks like they’re his body guards and this guy got ticked off because there was a photographer there taking pictures, even though he had a right to take pictures at a press conference.

At any rate Sen. Robert Brown’s comments should have been retracted because they were patently untrue. Of course, he said what he wanted to say for a purpose, didn’t he? He wanted people to think the guy was racist when he wasn’t!

Would that make Sen. Robert Brown a racist? Well, we all know a black person can never be racist, right? That racist comment is only reserved for White people. The oppressors.

Anyone who uses the “race card” willy nilly is a coward as far as I’m concerned, and already a loser. But don’t hold your breath about any apology from Sen. Brown, because he accomplished what he wanted to accomplish. Division between the races.

What a pity. He hasn’t learned a thing from Martin Luther King and what he died for.

      New Year 2011,

Hopping for the best this year however I fear the USA may be in its last days. The ever encroaching nanny state and regulation as well as inept ability to control itself in spending habits, an ever reaching Socialistic political controlling class has just about killed my feelings of hope for a prosperous new year. Those of us who are still lucky enough to still be working will be paying the tab not only of a greater percentage of free loading welfare recipients, but we will be also paying for those who have lost gainful employment through the actions of the political class trying to control that which they have no business being involved, IE The Free Market.

Sort of takes the wind out of ones sails. I can’t help feeling helpless and being used as a tool to the political class. After considering all the taxes I pay every year it almost makes being gainfully employed worthless. Federal tax, State tax, Property tax, Town tax, School tax, Sales tax, Sin tax, Fuel tax, Food tax, and the list goes on, better than half of what I make goes to the government or municipality and I am still left living paycheck to paycheck. This is not freedom, this is tyranny. Overreach by politicians and greedy non contributors through redistribution of wealth, with no consideration or consciousness of the forgotten man, the employed taxpayer in the middle.

I am a veteran, gave this country 14 years of service. Have been employed in the private sector another 14. I receive no payback for my invested tax dollars. There are those of you that will claim roads, cops, emergency services. I’ll give you my local Taxes do pay for and give me those services, but that is a very small percentage of what I pay each year to one government municipality or another. The rest is for nothing but graft and corruption and of course the redistribution of my liberty. Freedom is lost my friends, the socialists are winning.

As we watch the destruction of the United States from within, one must ponder is there a way to stop it. With an educational system rewriting history and liberal brainwashing of our kids with all the collective lessons to further the goals of the progressives, it is hard to fight a battle we are in fact at least fifty years too late in the fight. We were all busy raising a family, paying the bills, being responsible, being productive, and all that time we were trusting of our government sworn to protect our Constitutional rights. While being true Americans having the audacity to believe in our government, the socialistic and I dare say evil progressives were busy building its destructive web and machine. The progressives have been silently removing the pillars of freedom it has been said for more that one hundred years. Is there a civil way of stopping the destruction? At this point I am beginning to doubt it.

It amazes me that we have a Federal Government trying to control the free market and that better than 90% of politicians have no free market experience. Politicians now are mostly lawyers and community activists from academia turned politician. Never once being a contributor to our society, just leaches off society. At what point did we as Americans stop demanding real world experience in our leadership? Does anyone have an answer for this? The system needs to fall; the current leadership needs to be removed, the courts purged of progressives, and a reset of all laws not meeting strict constitutional interpretation must be abolished. It is the only way to restore freedom, liberty, and the rule of constitutional law. Otherwise it will be war at the end of the barrel of a gun, and none of us really want that, but there it is.

We do not need a regulated free market, regulation is not freedom. We do not need a nanny state looking to tell us right from wrong. We do not need controls and regulations over the way we choose to live our lives. We have been on this slippery slope for way to long and it needs to be reversed. How? That is the million; scratch that, trillion dollar question. At some point, it is inevitable, that we must abolish by force our current government. I would prefer this be done at the ballot box, but with powerful special progressive interests with their hands in the system it looks like this may in the end be too much to ask.

I believe in this New Year civil unrest will ensue. My hope is that the progressives following their playbook are the ones who start it which would give credence and validity to those of us who are constitutional freedom loving patriots the right to purge these cretins once and for all. Again, my hope is at the ballot box, but we are far down the slippery slope and I no longer hold that much hope for being able to stop this before it gets ugly and turns to civil war.

You see the prodding in the news trying to get the conservative to step over the line everyday. You see and read name calling, the rewriting of history, the claims that it is conservatives causing this downward spiral and the fall of the USA. We know better and the facts never support the progressive’s argument. We must stand down let the progressive start the civil unrest. And they will, mark my words, this is there final push. Only after the progressives start the unrest the conservatives then can end the siege of freedom and liberty.

So as many have told you, be prepared. Get your things in order, and stand firm. Be prepared to fight and crush our enemies when the time comes. No mercy, I say, no mercy. If it comes down to war, we must take precautions to never let this type of evil to ever happen again. Where this unrest starts is unknown but will be on the progressive’s whim. I believe where it ends is liberty and freedom for all with the termination of the progressive mindset for eternity. Heaven help us and God’s speed.

Remember 98.9% of all violent felons are Democrats. The Democrats started the KKK, they are the pro slavery party and pro segregation party. Only a someone profoundly ignorant or extremely evil would be a Democrat. If you are a Democrat answer this, why would you want to be part of an organization that started the KKK and was for slavery? Not to mention in favor of murdering innocent children in the womb. There’s no other way to put it when you are in favor of late term abortion. It’s also a fact that Fred Phelps (Westboro Baptist) is a proud, life long Democrat!

@byehlik : First, thank you so very much for your service. Second, keep your head up, take stock in the recent ass whoopin’ the liberals took. The pendulum will swing, but it swings both ways. We need good people like you to help fight the good fight and restore values to our society. Everyone needs to pay attention and demand accountability, even in our schools. The liberals have destroyed a generation, but it’s happened before, and conservatism has come back time and time again. I fear the worst like you do, but I’m also confident that the majority of Americans have good values. We just haven’t done a good job of exposing liberalism for the fraud that it is. The tide is turning, they no longer have a monopoly on the dissemination of information. Next we must take back control of our schools and hold government accountable. Everyone, when you send your children to college, boycott schools with liberal curriculums, look for market driven curriculums. It’s the only way to crawl out of this cesspool of liberalism.

From what little context is available, it looks like Malik just wanted to keep the guy with the camera from approaching the other guy. I think Malik might have been a little overzealous, and even may have liked the scuffle a little too much, but I don’t think he thought it was OK to assault reporters.

If you’ll notice when the reporter goes out the right door (looking out), Malik went out the left door, which is where that one guy went, then pushed him away from the direction the one guy went.

Malik was keeping the reporter at a distance away from the guy he was with.

Dear BYEHLIK, your long comment was obviously well thought out and unfortunately ACCURATE. I served 26years in the US Army for this country and I see these progressives hell-bent on destroying our liberties thru government enslavement. My son is a police officer for over 10 yrs and told me that the slave class is already formed Dad it is called welfare. Where he works at is, the inner city, is a very dangerous place, almost all of the residents are on welfare. I will not mention the city, but it is on the west coast. I pray for this country I served for so many years. Why do these progressives think this socialism will work when in no country has it EVER suceeded? I do understand the power thing. When Omama starts to work on confiscation of all firearms I truely bilieve that a civil war could break out. When he tries that, we will know his true aim. I have faith in the American people to put an end to this. For I will be one of them. He who gives up liberty for security deserves neither.

@ Byehlik… I am with you, Friend! The last thing I want is armed conflict — I have two young daughters (10 and 13) that I would like to peacefully raise. BUT, on the other hand, I don’t want to turn them over to a socialist police-state either!

The time has come for us not to take back our country, but OUR STATEHOUSES! There are only 3 possible solutions to the federal oppression: 1) Nullification, 2) Article Five Convention, 3) Secession.

These solutions are ONLY available at the STATE level! Each and every state has the ability to self-govern AND the right to self-determination. The question is: Are we really willing to accept the freedom inherent on our STATES or does the security of Washington DC hold our hearts?

I’d rather die free than live as a slave…

I DO NOT call myself an American anymore… I am a Mississippian! I don’t want to give my life for her, but, I’ll be damned if I live as a slave for the sake of some “union” of states!

@ Byehlik…as said by others. I agree with your most excellent post. I, too, am afraid the current state of affairs will lead to armed conflict, but would rather see the ballot box win this war. For this to happen one must look at how the progressives keep winning. They continue to promote entitlements for not working and tell everyone they are a victim from the big bankers or rich. Class warfare and racial divide is their tools of destruction. Having served in the military and after 30 years of law enforcement, I have seen how the political class has destroyed the American way. The politicians are more set on getting re-elected rather than doing the right thing. They also believe the police are there for their bidding and hide behind them at every turn. The newer generation of law enforcement are very dangerous as they too have been brainwashed by the progressives. I fear for them in their endeavors as they do not see life and liberty as most of us who have been around awhile. Our current military personnel are cut of the finest material in many generations and I continue to be amazed at them and their efforts.
God bless this great nation and all those liberty loving citizens within.

    War is hell.

We are so far removed from the horrors of war that we truly have no idea of the destruction we will have to exist under. Many of us will die from exposure to the elements, namely freezing cold and blazing heat. Food will be nowhere to be found. We will become uncilvilized by necessity, killing for a morsel of food. Starvation will unhinge everyone.

Valley Forge by Newt Gingrich draws a horrifying picture of what General Washington’s army of American patriots endured for the sake of liberty and to be free of the oppresive Brittish government. I dare say our lives today are pampered and if the left starts something that we are forced to respond to, the resulting havoc is something that everyone must mentally prepare for on all fronts.
