Photo Captures Over 3,000 Penguins Huddling in Extreme South America

Penguins, like human beings, have stellar parenting skills. Don’t believe us? Consider the facts: In South Georgia (way down the map, off the coast of South America), temperatures can get pretty cold. Accordingly, King Penguins have a solution for making sure their young don’t freeze to death.
Instinctively, these adult penguins come together to form a protective shield of warmth around their babies. This massive collection of “bodies” provides enough heat to ensure the young birds survive the cold temperatures (see the above image for an aerial shot of their mass huddle). Mail Online has more:
Parental instinct takes over in the inhospitable climate of the South Atlantic and the chicks with their long, brown, downy coats are made to crowd together to retain their body warmth in the equivalent of bird creches – visible as brown swathes on [the above photo].
Meanwhile their extraordinary parents waddle down to the shore to bring back dinner for their offspring.
The chicks, which take between 10 to 13 months to raise – cannot regulate their body temperature and the parents care for them round the clock for the first three weeks.
The idea that these adult penguins know that they need to take such enormous steps to protect their young is astounding. Below, you can watch these amazingly-majestic birds fast at work:

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 7:41amYou would think the GREENIES would be pushing for pollutiuon so we could increase the temps on the globe so these oppressed animals could live with warmth. All animals should have the same rights.

Penguins are far superior parents than humans because penguins do not choose to murder their unborn babies for convenience in a Planned Parenthood abattoirs.

Posted on June 2, 2011 at 11:39pmThese aren’t in Canada .. that is where they still club the baby seals. No I am not a crazy enviromentalist .. but it does seem cruel to club a baby animal in front of the parents .. just saying.

Posted on June 2, 2011 at 10:47pmi wish you would tell the story right, it is the male that has to stay and protect the egg, until it has hatched ,then stay until the little one can go out on it’s own, the mother lays the egg, then leaves the male ,she come s back only every now and then and usually, it is then. but still a great photo, and pretty cool { cold } how they survive those extreme conditions.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 1:04amAnd these animals who can‘t talk to one another and have just basic instinct skills don’t have intelligent design in them from God to know how to work together to keep their babies alive, that somehow through evolution they learned how to keep their babies warm?
So by that notion, that would mean they didn’t know how to keep their babies warm in the beginning, but had to evolve to do so… riddle me this batman…. if they had to learn this, they‘d all have been dead from the very beginning and none would’ve “evolved” to learn this skill…
Same with butterflies that have Owl Eye’s on the backs of their wings… so they just evolved to grow that pattern, knowing what an Owl is and then knowing how to make a pattern on their wings that they can’t see, they “evolved” to understand an Owl keeps a predator away?
Yeah, there is evolution, improvements in a design… but God is the architect and he laid out the blueprints of intelligent design into all things…. I’m involved in technology and science and their is no way of scientifically explaining away how certain features and characteristics of animals just “evolved” out of nothing, not without their being Intelligent Design to start with… God’s design….

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 8:54pmThe moderator apparently removed my post yesterday with my off-hand comment, “They’re staging a mass protest of the illegal occupation of one thousandth of one percent of the Antarctic continent,“ and a link to ”Chicken Feed” video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny2fgRs7Ylk which contains a somewhat related scene.
Yes, it‘s the moderator’s prerogative — perhaps it was misconstrued as advertising, but I think it’s at least marginally congruent with the discussion. Meanwhile, blatantly anti-Semitic ranting comments on other stories are overlooked?
