Pink Floyd Stars Son Sorry for Climbing War Memorial During London Protest
LONDON (AP) — The son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has issued a public apology for climbing on top of one of Britain’s most important war memorials during violent student protests against rising university fees.

Charlie Gilmour says he wants to say sorry for the “terrible insult” to the thousands who died for the country. He says he did not realize the Cenotaph in central London commemorates Britain’s war dead.

He added in a statement Friday that he was ashamed for his “moment of idiocy.”

Gilmour was among thousands of students and youths protesting in the streets of London on Thursday. The protests turned violent when some threw objects at police.

Telegraph TV caught Charlie Gilmour, the son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmouron Parliament Square, after students broke onto the green at Parliament Square during the recent student protest.

In the video, Charlie Gilmour, with long dark hair, urges fellow students to charge forward towards the police.
Gilmour, the son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, has already apologised for climbing the Cenotaph during the protest against tuition fees, admitting that he was “mortified” by his actions.
He said: “I feel nothing but shame. My intention was not to attack or defile the Cenotaph. Running along with a crowd of people who had just been violently repelled by the police, I got caught up in the spirit of the moment.

    They tear down what they have not built. They will rebuild nothing in its place because they themselves have lost any sense of what it means to be British. They themselves have been programmed to hate their own identity. Therefore the only way to justify their own existence is to feel guilty and lash out at their own tribe which built the British nation. Traitors everyone of them. This has been a long time in a coming, people now just have no honor left in them, no honor for parents, no honor for the ones who gave them freedom, no respect for authorities who protect them and their families.       I wonder if it is possible to achieve any greatness as a generation of spoiled kids. Greatness is born from surviving tough times and learning to work and scrap for the things you want. We haven’t had the roots for the formation of that kind of generation for a long time. I think there is hope for us but I fear we will have to sink to further depths for the roots of greatness to take hold. Many of our parents became the greatest generation from the roots of the depression where they were thankful for the smallest things and willing to work for something better.

And I agree with whomever above stated why is he rioting about tuition because his Dad is rich…just a thought…being rich gives the kids time to foment this kind of craziness because they don’t have work extra jobs & all to stay in university..it all sucks big time! I figure if they keep rioting…get the water cannons out and wash them out of the street..or turn ‘em to ice cubes! Either works for me!

      There should be a HUGE amount of public pressure on Hollywood Celeb’s and Sports Stars to get onto the TV and denounce all of this and to say this should never happen here in the US and that rioting and violence is not the answer.

    There in lies the key… think before acting… It would be good for David to get onto the news and TV in general and publicly say “Look, even I got caught up in things that made my not think, we all need to go home, sit down and work this out calmly and not with rocks and pipes, but with our heads and hearts”

    This is the time for celebrities to standup, got onto the TV and talk with people who would listen to them and have them call for all of these people to go home and lets work this out properly, because the violence is making us do things that are wrong and we will all regrets for a long time to come.

      Disgusting isn’t it? I‘ve read that they’re removing most of the “old” words from their dictionaries too. Not unused words like “anon” and stuff like that, no, words that refer directly to their past culture that are still widely used. Words like “elf” and “gnome” and such. It sounds strange, but it really seems to me like they’re in a very focused effort to literally erase the past. The ancient past goes first, then Christianity, and then modern history (Churchill comes to mind).

      University fees rise because costs rise. And one of, if not the biggest, reason costs rise is because of bureaucratic, unionized, tenured, government entitlement b.s. that these protesters want more of. I guess we’re supposed to pay for their education and shut the he!! up.

      Egobrain, don’t know much about Gilmour but Roger Waters is a leftie nutjob deluxe. You should not assume just because they make wonderful music that they are either intelligent OR sane.
