Pint-Sized Chihuahua Successfully Thwarts Armed Robbers!

Chihuahua Attacks Armed Robbers

A ten pound Chihuahua named Paco proved to be more than just a cute face when he actually defended his owner’s tobacco shop from an armed robbery. The lovable pooch is seen in this great video chasing off the robbers while nipping at their heels. Clearly, Paco must think himself Doberman.

ABC brings us the heartwarming report and video:

Good Dog!! I once had a Great Dane and she welcomed burglaers into out home. Our fault, we had a doggie door big enough for a freight train.

Totally off topic, but I hope the censor lets through a quick question for the many experienced small dog owners on this thread right now. For an apartment dweller, which would be the least ‘barky’, healthiest, most afectionate breed (I like them all):
    -chihuahua
    -rat terrier
    -daschund
    -French bulldog

I have done lots of research on my own, but it would be good to hear opinions of actual dog owners with experience.

I have Rat Terriers. They are great dogs. They don’t bark much at all – only at out of the ordinary noises and even then the barking is short-lived. Once they “know” the normal sounds/actions of their surroundings, they are very quiet dogs. They do like to play so give them plenty of toys. And they are easily kennel trained if you need to keep them in a confined space while you’re gone.

I’ve owned Rat Terriers and found they are great apartment dogs. Small, affectionate and still a lot of fun if you want to take them out and about.

      @MIDWESTMOM and P@TY,
Thank you for writing me back about the small dog decision. You both recommended Rat Terriers, which I find so lovey and cute, and will be my first choice if I have to move back to the US.
Where I live, I see a lot of Jack Russels, which is odd, because I know they are very smart but very difficult to train and not good apartment dogs. Here they seem to be ood apartment dogs, for some reason.
I also see a lot of wire-haired Daschunds here. It is the preferred small dog in Germany, I am not in germany but not too far.
Chiuahuas are just so damn cute and sweet and huggable. I want one! But is the barking really an issue?

Different breeds of dogs have different genetic traits but in many cases bad doggy behaviour such as excessive barking, biting etc is directly related to lack of training by the dog owner.

We currently have 2 “rats” and a 1/2 Golden Retriever 1/2 Yellow Lab who is a sweetie – small pony size but still wants to sit on your lap. Unfortunately, too big for apartment living.

All of our dogs are very well behaved & trained. They are protective of their “people”, our livestock (they actually play with the barn cats, ducks & chickens etc LOL) and our home without being mean or aggressive. Its uncanny how they can immediately tell the difference between friend or foe – and they’ve never been wrong. They greet friends with joy but are watchful and suspicious of strangers. One wrong move and they will put themselves between their family and someone they don’t like.

I think it is an individual dog thing. My chihuahua, who like Paco was a rescue and weighs about 10 pounds and could have rat terrier or perhaps Pomeranian in her, hardly barks at all. Didn’t bark at all for the first 7 months we had her. Now she barks at appropriate times. My chihuahua/Pomeranian mix is much more barky. A friend of mine has miniature two miniature dachsunds. The male doesn’t bark; the female does. Since knowing for sure might be an issue, you might consider getting one of the wonderful adult dogs available in rescues everywhere. Puppies‘ personalities don’t emerge until later, so it is difficult to know what you are getting with a puppy.

Like MidwestMom says, most of it comes down to training. I encouraged my Chihuahua to bark at passers-by because I want to know when people are around my house. She’s also very spoiled though, so I can‘t say she’s well trained by any means. She’s 5 pounds full grown, so everything is very big to her. It takes about 12 visits for friends/family before she gets comfortable with them being in her territory. But to her mom and I, she‘s the most loving dog I’ve ever had. (I can only compare to snauzer’s (sp?) and labs.) Now knowing all the cons of having a purebred Chi (4-6 lbs full grown) I will still probably never have anything but a Chi.

I currently live in an apartment w/ a Jack Russell/ Rat Terrier mix. I think the only reason he does well in this environment is due to the Rat genes. But I do still have to be vigilant in making sure he gets proper exercise and that we burn that extra energy he has.
I had a Chihuahua that was killed in dog attack back in March (long story, won’t get into it) and he was a barker. He also had a LOT of energy which was why I got the Jack Russell in the first place! I am a big advocate of having more than 1 dog at a time – so maybe get 2 Rat Terriers :)
Good luck in picking the perfect puppy!

We have a mother and daughter team. They are a Chihuahua and Rat Terrier mix. Our vet thought the mother was a Min-Pin at first because of her beautiful markings. They make wonderful pets and the mother is smarter than most humans I know. They never need a leash and are extremely well behaved.

Both of you are nuts. The dogs probably “scared” them with their noise. @Diana The Catholics are a sick cult of perverts who think the Pope is Jesus. All 3 major religions stole from the thousands of years teachings from the ancient Egyptian priests and Pharoahs. That is a fact. The Pyramid Texts and the Proverbs of Ptah Hutep are examples.

The little pooch you see here is a Mini Schnauzer and he is bad to the bone. His bark is so vicious that people will ring our doorbell and then run back into the yard to wait for us to answer the door. I would say he’s harmless and he is if you are BUT if you have the wrong attitude then beware.

Your statement: Why are Blacks so afraid of dogs, is just a bunch of hooey, isn’t it? Being a Black person doesn’t make a Black person afraid of dogs – except in your weirdo mind. I come here and state that I see many Black dog owners, and clearly, they don’t fear dogs, solely because they happen to be Black. You are the weirdo here. Where do you get such ridiculous ideas?

Let’s try this again. I have a stupid Muslim family living next door to me. On the day I met them, they complained about the two, tiny, Chihuahuas I own. It is Muslims that disdain dogs, not Black people. Muslims get all weird about dogs and pigs because it is the stupidest “religion” on Earth. I really dislike the Muslims, and I’m not happy that they have bought a home next to mine.

I am a Catholic and believe that only the Catholic religion is the only true Christian religion. I believe that any other form of Christianity is false. Falseness includes: Baptists, Lutherans, Mormons, Protestants, Presbyterians, Jehovah Wittiness, or any other other sect that claims to be Christian.

Jesus Christ, himself, established the Catholic Church. He established the first Pope of his Church. If you’re a Christian, and don’t believe in the infallibility of the Pope in religious matters, then you are not a true believer in Christianity.

Jesus asked the disciples in Matthew 16:15″Who do you say that I am? vs.16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah the Son of the Living God” vs. 18 “Now I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” Peter’s name means rock or stone in Greek and Aramaic This whole paragraph refers to Christ (and belief in Him as Saviour) as the“cornerstone” of faith. which Is mentioned in 1st Peter 2:4-6 and the fact that all believer will make the same confession of faith that Peter did. Peter became the leader of the church in Jerusalem . Jesus established the Church in these verses eventually tells the disciples ( just before his assention to Heaven )to remain in Jerusalem to receive the power of the Holy Spirit and then to preach to Good News first to the Jews(Peter’s job), then the Greeks (Gentiles ) Luke’s job ,then to the ends of the Earth (Paul’s Missionary journeys). All of the Apostles participated and travelled. Peter and Paul actually disagreed about some matters. No where does Jesus create the Roman Catholic Church. He created the catholic-meaning all – embracing church. a term first used about ad110) The Roman Catholic tradition has Peter as the first Pope probably, because he was martyred in Rome. It is not the church that was written of in the Bible. That one was headed by the various apostles and their followers who spread all over the then known World fulfilling the “Great Commi
