See Frances Piven’s Awkward Call-And-Response Speech to Wall St. Protesters

The videos below of Frances Fox Piven are painful — for many reasons.

First, the message is frustrating. They show Piven calling for a “popular uprising” and calling Wall St. bankers “thieves,“ ”cannibals,“ and the ”big problem.”

Second, the way it is delivered might be compared to fingernails on the chalkboard. See, it’s become popular for the Occupy Wall St. protesters to mimic and repeat everything their speakers say. Think of it like that annoying game of “shadow” you and your friends used to play as kids. And Piven never seems to get the entire grasp of it, or at least isn’t that great at playing along.

First, here’s Piven calling for a “popular uprising” on Friday:

“I teach at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. I am here because I am so enthusiastic about the possibilities of this sit-in, over the marches that are occurring over postal worker issues, the sister demonstrations that are starting in Chicago and Los Angeles, and maybe in Boston. I think we desperately need a popular uprising in the United States. None of us know. I study movements. None of us know the exact formula for when those movements erupt, but it could be. And if that is true, then these people who are here are really wonderful. I would do anything to help them.”

And this is the awkward call-and-response speech she delivered the same night, where the protesters copy everything she says:

      The Left is very concerned about other people’s money, but are famously stingy with their own money (assuming they have any). Ask any bartender or waitstaff, it‘s not a secret that Lefties generally don’t tip, cause the biggest problems as far as service complaints, and are generally rude. I’m a former bartender, believe me, it’s well known in the industry. While there are exceptions, they are few and far between.

      As to Pivens: What a bitter, angry, sad little woman. Imagine going through your entire life angry at the world and spending your last years on earth inciting others to hate. What a life wasted.

      @Goast………I see your point and I think it’s valid, but……there is a hell of a lot of conservatives and libertarians that had better wake up and start take action or you are going to be wrong. How many conservative minded people out there do you know that don’t follow the news and really have no clue as to what is really going on?       I agree with your points here. I was a waiter/bartender for many years. Although I wasn’t politically active in those days, I did notice that the customers that complained most or demanded most were usually the ones who tipped least. Re; MS. Piven, How can you blame her for being angry, bitter, sad and pathetic? Her revolution failed miserably. Right after the 1960′s revolution, society spawned the happy Disco 1970′s with capitalism doing fine in spite of that complete numbskull idiot Carter, followed by the New Wave 1980′s and the Reagan Revolution–again capitalism and prosperity on the rise, 1990‘s brought more of the same and into the next century NO ONE even cared about the 1960’s revolution—-except her and her ilk. Socialist revolutions will always fail because socialism goes against the grain of human nature, which is to better one’s life through hard work, faith in a higher power, allegiance to country, and respect for one another. She doesn’t understand that, and she never will.

      What needs to be done is that a defamation suit needs to be brought. We might catch a rightwing idiot or a leftwing troll. During the discovery process an ISP’s records can be reviewed and the true names of people posting under one or more screen names can be reviewed.

      I look at the quote in the NYT and I don’t see it as a threat to Ms Piven. I see it as telling a leader of the left that they can’t get a crowd riled up to take our property. That is if a crowd came or instituted a government to expropriate private property then the crowd would be in trouble not Piven. Looking at Piven it is apparent she can‘t take anything from anybody by force except at a senior citizen’s home. In no way was Piven threatened.

      Thus, when the speakers speaks those in the immediate area shout out what was said so others farther away can hear it.

      It is very awkward as you can see.

      Why do people let their children go to Universities that hire this type person? They are the ones indoctrinating our children toward communism & socialism. My nephew goes to a college where the professor speaks with a very heavy accent and he can‘t pick up on what she’s saying. This should not be allowed. So, his mama is paying for THIS sort of stuff for her son?
      I understand this because I could never hear what heavy accents are saying. What can they teach if they can’t be understood? At the very least, they should have someone to interpret on the side. To me, it’s kinda like hearing a rapper and not understanding a word they say. What good is college without understanding so you can learn?
      I talked with a Regent and demanded they kick out that fake Indian, Ward Churchill. Some other idiot
      college will hire him tho. These Universities charge an arm & leg now for tuition and that’s what we get for teachers? If they’re not Commies, they have heavy accents, so what’s learned from them?

With the combonation of socialism and the extreme left agenda being taught in our schools for the last 30 years and the hatred of God also being taught, I don’t see us recovering from this as a whole. I do believe that there will be a faith movement that will come but it will not be the majority. In fact as attacks increase on Christianity there will be a strengthening of the anti-God crowd, and along with that a strengthening of believers as we see more and more what is coming on the horizon. Jesus talks about this in the bible when He asks if He will find any faith left upon his return. We are at those times, and if you don’t believe that you need to take your head out of the sand.

      Personally, I’d rather have a child go to a Christian University or go to none. I‘d rather my children and grand children flip burgers at McDonald’s than learn the kind of crap most of these commie teachers

The military have had the troops take tests and asked the men if they would SHOOT AMERICANS if they were ordered to do so and many answered YES!!!!!!       @Jeffofnh……I’ts not just the youth. It’s also the parents. My kids both went through public schools and graduated and don’t for a moment believe this crap. I was always asking them what they were being taught in school and then their mother and I would re-educate them. When you do that from a young age by the time they get to highscrewl the can see the fraud. Then I taught them to learn the material, pass the required testing and through it away. It’s the dummy parents that allow it that are just as much to blame as the teachers.

      The generation of parents of today’s kids are Generation X, the famously libertarian-conservative generation that bucks government authority and are more or less highly capitalistic, pro gun, pro rights and individualistic (there are lots of sociological studies that point this out, btw). Most GenX parents I know are reverting voluntarily back to the “mom at home, dad at work” model and are actively involved in their kids’ lives and educations.

      Their grandparents on the other hand, baby boomers, are by and large hard edged statists. And don’t get me started on “the greatest generation” that cheered FDR from start to finish.

      They may not be bright, but that is not the point. A screw driver or a stapler does not have to be smart to be used as a tool. To the elite they are just tools. And to the elites hold them in as much contempt as they hold any of the rest of us. Those outside the inner circle are merely smelly repulsive bags of blood to be used and manipulated and discarded when no longer useful.

      One of the reasons history is ignored in educating these fools is the Left has never been kind to the useful fools after a successful revolution. They are some of the first to be marched to the camps for some real “social justice.”

    What is the lunacy of this response/repetition? Do these people realize how ridiculous that is? What a bunch of absolute morons. Of course, what other class of people have the time to sit around and listen to marxist drivel instead of dealing with the realities of adult life such as job, family, faith, and if there is time, friends and recreation. It pains me to think that this is where our welfare dollars are going, to provide for such wastage.

      Make sure she survives said stroke BUT, and I hate to say this, loses all physical function (mainly the ability to communicate in all forms) yet retains whatever mental capacities she has left. She would be trapped in her shell of a body with no means of getting her message out to the gullible masses. Of course, having lost all physical control, she would also need to be turned, changed, and watered a few times a day, but….. I suppose she doesn‘t have much dignity to begin with so there wouldn’t be very much for her to lose when it comes to that level of care….
