Playboy Playmate Arrested at Orlando Airport for Carrying Loaded Gun

Playboy Playmate Shanna Marie McLaughlin Arrested With Gun at Orlando AirportWhat do you get when you mix Playboy’s Miss July 2010, a loaded handgun and airport security? An arrest, apparently.

Shanna Marie McLaughlin was detained at Orlando International Airport on Monday evening after she allegedly attempted to board a plane to Los Angeles with a loaded handgun in her bag. While the 26-year-old has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, everyone knows that bringing a loaded gun onto an airplane is an impossibility in this day and age.

McLaughlin told police she was previously unaware of the fact that her boyfriend had placed the .45 caliber Colt revolver in her bag.

Nevertheless, the model was jailed and charged with carrying a firearm in a place that is prohibited by law. Following her detainment last evening, she posted a $250 bond and has been released. Apparently, offenses like this aren’t all that rare. FloridaToday.com reports:

“Our officers intercept several guns every day at checkpoints across the United States. In Orlando, last year we intercepted 28 guns that passengers brought to the checkpoint and year-to-date we have kept 19 guns from being carried in the cabin of planes leaving from Orlando,” said Sari Koshetz, TSA spokeswoman. “Passengers need to remember that the last time they might have used a suitcase was for a road trip, and that they need to carefully inspect the contents of all luggage before coming to the airport. Our mission is to keep you safe and we do that every day.”

This isn‘t the model’s first brush with controversy. Last year, she made headlines when she participated in a photo shoot at the University of Central Florida, her alma mater. The photos, of course, included McLaughlin in revealing clothing. The shoot took place in a UCF locker room, which was the catalyst for some angst among college officials.

Bah, I disregard all laws regulating my God given right to defend myself and my family.

I was convicted of a non-violent drug felony 16 years ago, never saw a day in prison, am a husband, and a father.

I’ve been armed ever since my son son was born 2.5 years ago and applied for executive clemency the day after he was born. The probation and parole board reserves the right to wait up to two years before they pass judgment. I’m done asking for permission to protect my wife and child.

As my pop always says, “I’d rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6″.

I‘ve had maybe two traffic violations in the past 16 years and that’s it.

If they really thought I was a danger, they would have locked me up 16 years ago.

It’s a game to them and anyone who supports the idea of substance prohibition in any regard is on the wrong team.

This happens a hundred times a day. It is easy to forget about the pistol in the bottom of a purse. They mostly arrest people’s grandmas (just keepin’ america safe folks, lol).

But as far as there being any safety impact of this woman carrying a loaded gun on a plane, there is none whatsoever. Be realistic.

Saying everyone should have a gun like the person I responded to is saying that everyone regardless to their mental state and criminal history should be able to own a gun! Not the case! You saying they already have guns is completely stupid and wrong! I’m all for legal gun ownership, but I’d prefer it not be legal for someone to come out of jail or someone released from a mental institution to be able to legal purchase a firearm! The same way it shouldn’t be legal for your parents to marry seeing as how they are probably brother and sister! Think before you speak, then run your comment by someone before posting, because i can promise you, anything you say on your own will undoubtedly be idiotic!

And statistically speaking where we safer then today????? by 10 time and more Google it look it up, because your lazy don’t ask me to prove it or complain about my grammar the next step for someone that has not ability to grasp reason. Would I honestly advocate the handicapped having weapons or criminals, no but I would rather they did if it meant I could keep mine. You may be a rino or think you conservative but you clearly don’t understand “He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither. People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both” Many places have neither now and because we disagree we consider each other to be less then mentally capable even more proving my point. I hope you can grasp all that I may think your a tard but still believe you should be able to arm your self you think I am a tard and should not have a gun. See how it works??? You comment is riddled with grammatical error, to the point where it’s just difficult to read. Not because it doesn’t make sense. I can muddle my way through and get the gist of your meaning, but because this is presumably from an adult. An adult arguing gun rights! Scary!
The next thing that kind of put me off was your comparison of today versus the 1800′s! WOW!! So you think that the reason people were safe in the 1800′s versus today is because almost every home owned a gun? Nothing to do with less people, less to steal, socioeconomic status a bit more even, etc….Unreal!
The next thing that raised an eyebrow is the fact that you talked about the “Handicapped”. Who are you referring to? My comments were very clear in that I was referring to mentally unstable people. “Handicapped”? And who the hell is talking about taking your gun? This is about a loaded firearm being brough on an airplane! LOL Paranoid much?
I’m gonna get you a t-shirt with that Ben Franklin quote since yuo like it so much! LOL
No I’m not a “Rino” or any other version of a conservative you don’t agree with! I’m a democrat with conservative views on some issues! That has nothing to do with the fact that I don’t want guns in the hands of convicted felons and mentally unstable people! Do I think liberals want to make the decisions for others? No! Do I think a decision should be made for those who lack the capacity to make the correct decision? YES!

      Big Daddy Tom

Thank you for such a colorful description of my life and living quarters. I am flattered.

It is obvious that you my friend are the one with the reading disability. Not at anytime did I mention you, your ideology or your quote. I simply stated that you must be in a New York State of mind. Which is not to infer stupidity, or be insulting, (as you so eloquently stated to outline my economic and social status)? Simply put, it was just an old adage that has been used for years and has a connotation of “admiring the city and think what a lucky sob I am to live in the city that never sleeps,”

I simply stated what I know is a demographic truth. In turn, I believe it is not a wise decision to break the law where 90 percent of the citizenry have access to (and own) personal firearms. Unlike NYC, where the percentage of law abiding citizens who have the legal privilege of possessing a personal firearm, is minimal. Of course the other old adage that “If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns.” Still holds credence.

So, have it your way, insult me and other law abiding citizens like me and keep your arrogant NYC spirit alive. It all makes the world go round. Here is another bit of pertinent information you may want to reflect upon “New York City’s murder rate rose 15 percent despite its severe gun laws, while Bloomberg dedicated himself and lots of money to criticizing the less restrictive laws that are in place in other

      BCNU,
No, my post was not to suggest they do not exist. On the contrary, it’s the existence of the .45 (long) Colt revolver that even brings the question.

Though I had assumed that the actual firearm was something more like a Colt Defender or other 1911 variant, other news sources are calling the firearm in question a ‘Ruger SAA’. Does that sound right to you?

My post was questioning the whether or not the weapon was really a 45 Colt revolver, or a ‘Ruger SAA’, for that matter. From what I’ve seen, 9 times out of 10, the news media will utterly mangle anything related to firearms. I imagine in still other articles it will be called a ‘high powered military assault weapon’ of some sort.
