What Really Happened? Police and Protesters Differ on Occupy D.C. Collision

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — District of Columbia police and Occupy D.C. protesters are offering conflicting accounts about a weekend incident in which a motorist struck three protesters near a downtown demonstration.
Police said Saturday that a driver will not be charged for striking the three people Friday evening.
Assistant Police Chief Lamar Greene said at a Saturday evening press conference that police concluded from talking to two witnesses that the collision was unavoidable. But the three people involved in the crash gave a different story.
Hundreds of protesters affiliated with Occupy D.C. shut down streets Friday night near the city’s convention center where a conservative group was gathering and blocked participants from leaving. The two adults and one teenager who were struck were taken to the hospital after the collision and later released.
Lt. Christopher Micciche of the D.C. police said the driver was not cited because he had a green light when his vehicle struck the three at around 10 p.m.
“The protesters were apparently trying to block the roadway,” Micciche said. “It was essentially an accident where three individuals were injured but they were in violation by being in the roadway.”
Micciche said witnesses told police that the three pedestrians “either ran toward or jumped in front of the moving vehicle.” He said one pedestrian jumped on the hood of the car.
But the demonstrators said that wasn’t true.
Heidi Sippel of Vandalia, Ohio, said that she, her 13-year-old son and her wife Brandy Sippel were taking part in the demonstration, forming a human chain when a silver Lexus sped toward them. The driver slowed down, threw up his hands in apparent frustration and then drove forward, hitting them, she said. Brandy Sippel, who is six months pregnant, was grazed by the car’s rearview mirror. Heidi Sippel said she and her son were both hit by the front of the car.

“He just threw his hands up and hit the gas,” Heidi Sippel said of the driver. “When he hit my son he went across the hood of the car. I hit my head and blacked out for a minute, then came to.”
She said none of them had thrown themselves in front of the car.
“We weren’t trying to get in front of the cars. We would have very happily, given the opportunity, stepped out of the way and let him pass by,” she said.
Sippel said all three members of her family were cited by police for obstructing traffic and walking against a do-not-walk sign, both of which carry fines. A police report confirms the citations.
A man identified in a police report as the vehicle driver, Shawn Valentine of Clinton, Md., said he was at work when reached by telephone Saturday night and could not speak about the incident.
According to a police report, he told officers he observed a clearing between the protesters and tried to pass between them when the demonstrators jumped “onto and in front of his vehicle.”
Other individuals affiliated with the Occupy DC group said the same driver struck another demonstrator nearby before hitting the Sippel family. Greene, the assistant chief, said he did not know about another incident.

These two say they are , wife and wife, (is that how you say it ??), but I didn‘t know Ohio married gay’s ? Just as I had always wondered how those people managed to follow the band “phish”” around the country with out having to sustain a job for financial support, I wonder how these protestors do it ? I wonder how many are recieving government funds ?? Of which, they are probably like my sister, who thinks this money is just free money, that she wastes and gives away, even though she has young children we have to support. She doesn’t have the capacity to understand that this money is tax dollars, meaning it comes primarily from those in the 1%. I was suprosed that the top 1% starts out at around $350,000. Considering how much these people pay out in taxes, the amount they pay for upkeep of their property, vehicles and vacations, along with other services, this is not that much money really. A great deal of their money goes back into the community and is greatly appreciated by entrepreneurs as myself. But I digress, MY question being, what are two lesbians doing bringing their 13 year old son to DC to protest and have him standing before moving cars ?? DO they not have jobs ? Is the husband wife not working to support her family ? OR are they just activist from the gay community who just hate everybody ??

Viet Nam protesters were blocking an intersection to the way home- Thru the intersection – 9 miles or about 42 miles another way to get home after working 12 hrs. A bearded hippie jumped on my hood as I eased thru the crowd in my Red – White & Blue 1970 Rebel Machine. As I finally cleared the crowd I banged all 4 gears to 100 MPH. About 1 mile down the road was a Flordia Highway Patrol Officer and I stoped. As the hippie got off my hood and fell down to the ground with shaking legs I expected to be arrested by the FHP officer. While laughing off his ass he told me I could go on. I did!

Posted on November 6, 2011 at 10:08amOne thing that I read into this matter is that the #Occupy band is ratcheting up their tactics now, and in the matter here, deliberatly put themselves at harms-way to make their point clear by appearing to be the victims. No matter how the truth comes forward, and in this case the driver is in the clear, the media will spin it to cause the driver to be a psychotic tea party member bent on murder and mayhem of “peaceful demonstrators once again harassed by the vicious and evil police state…”
Do not be suprised if one or more of these groups leaders have a set of union thugs deliberatly use vehicles to injure protesters, and then blame it on the cops or tea party members.
Remember that in the end this mess is ultimatly about a message:
A. To make the occupy groups appear as helpless victims.

Yet, we do not what a China Syndrom, where people with Cars (or Coaches) can just run over Serfs, who get in the way (re. the French Revolution)!

Was this a typo? If not this must be a hate crime! Hey people flesh chains always lose against steel and lady you should not be jay walking while pregnant no matter what your beleifs that is just common sense.
