Police in Riot Gear Face Growing Protest at UC Berkeley During High-Ledge Standoff

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Police in riot gear and holding batons are facing off with a growing number of protesters lined up outside a University of California, Berkeley where other protesters have chained themselves together on the ledge of an upper floor of the building.

Television video shows hundreds of protesters on the ground yelling and chanting, while several protesters have chained themselves together on a narrow ledge of the fourth floor of the building.
The protest Thursday comes after university police said they arrested 17 people late Wednesday when they refused to leave a campus building during a protest against state education cuts.
All 17, including seven students, were cited for trespassing. Police Lt. Alex Yao says three people in the group also were booked at the Berkeley jail on suspicion of obstructing police.
The protest Wednesday was part of a day of action by students around the country opposed to education cuts.

The lesson here is you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. There’s only so much money in California. If you choose to spend it supporting illegal immigrants to the tune of $31 Billion/year, there’s not going to be any left over for education subsidies. Education cuts are the price to pay for not deporting those in Califorina illegally
You can have lax immigration enforcement or you can have cheap college tuition. You can’t have them both.

Then when they get an infection and need medical aid, send them to Canada to be put on the waiting list.
The whole time the will wonder, why isn’t anyone helping me…..The rest of the USA will be working, paying taxes, raising our families, and going to chuch.

They should just stand on the steps below where it’s safe. That would be a protest, and the police would have no reason to deny access to them. Their supporters would be supporting the MESSAGE and not the dangerous spectacle.

The he regained his senses. I told him if the guy jumped I would clean up the mess, they could go home and stop spending my tax dollars on trying to talk the clown off the roof.

Some overripe berries, particularly the dark colored ones like blueberries, huckleberries, black raspberries, boysenberries, etc. scattered on the window ledges above the protesters should do it. The pigeons get slightly intoxicated and poop like no tomorrow. And the best thing is that it comes out purple!!!! And sometimes a double bonus, complete with the seeds! I bet any local supermarket would be glad to donate some of their “spoiled” fruit. It’s also hilarious to watch the pigeons stagger about, too.
