Police: Little Girl Suffocated After Family Members Forced Her Into Plastic Box, Tortured Her

Police have arrested four family members in connection with a 10-year-old child’s suffocating death inside a locked plastic container, which police say she was forced into after taking a popsicle from the freezer.

John and Samantha Allen, both 23, were charged with first-degree murder after police say they confessed to locking Ame Deal in the container while she was in their care. Cynthia Stoltzman, 44, and Judith Deal, 62, were charged with child abuse and kidnapping after admitting to locking the girl in the container on separate occasions.

According to CNN, Stoltzman was the Ame’s legal guardian, but it was not immediately clear how Deal or the Allens were connected to her.

During the initial investigation, the four told police the 10-year-old climbed into the box herself during a game of hide and seek and must have accidentally suffocated. Other family members later came forward and said the box was often used as a punishment.

According to relatives, Ame Deal was one of at least a dozen children who lived in the Phoenix home, and was frequently beaten and abused. She was forced to walk barefoot on the blistering hot sidewalk, eat dog feces and endure beatings with a board called the “butt buster,” the Daily Mail reported.

Neighbors reported hearing screaming over time from the house but never contacted police because they said they didn’t want to break the family up. The other children would sometimes roam with little or not clothes or diapers on, but a witness said Ame was often singled out.

Child Protective Services have taken custody of the remaining children.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump told CNN the brutal nature of the case has shocked the department.

“This child died at the hands of those who were supposed to love and care for her. … This case has turned the stomachs of some of our most seasoned detectives,” he said.

    It may seem that death was her only escape from these animals. Death is not enough retribuition for the in-human act committed, no lenghty prison sentence can waiver the deed. Unfortunately we have the barbaric cowards among us. May God keep this little girl on His lap and praise her with His presence, soothe her with His love, and shower her with all that He is.

      It is a shame people like this can’t be punished “enough” on earth for what they did. I wish the prisons

      This is infuriating. Forget the demons involved in this child’s death, how in the hell can you, as a neighbor, see things that you know aren’t normal punishment being administered to a child and not report it. How can that neighbor show her face on camera for everyone to see and admit that she KNEW that this was not normal. I understand that people don’t want to just report any kind of discipline as abuse but for God’s sake, can’t you tell the difference between the two. How in the hell can a CPS agent NOT recognize the signs of extreme child abuse. I thought these people were supposed to be trained to recognize these things. What the hell good are they if they can’t prevent, stop or end something like this. They need to find another line of work. All of these people had a role to play in the death of this precious little girl. I hope they can live with it.
      And that sick bitch at the beginning of the clip laughing about the tiny space the child could get into … places even her dog couldn’t get in … give me 5 freaking minutes with her, she won’t be laughing anymore. These people are nothing more than human trash, all of them. I don’t like to question the Father, but for the life of me, I just don’t understand how He allows this kind of evil to exist.

      Neighbors report hearing screaming coming from the house, and neglected naked babies walking around the yard………If only one of the those neighbors had contacted child welfare the child may have been saved. Remember just because you call child welfare – it does not mean that the children are taken away. It means that the family, the home, and the children will be checked out by people who are trained at what to look for in abuse. At least that is the way the system is set up for chld protection. The sad thing is that not always is there a good outcome.

      Sadly, I think it is both. Maybe stupid people are more inclined to fall into evil. But there seems to be plenty of both to go around. The trouble with just putting these people in prison is, as soon as nobody is watching, some bleeding heart psychiatrist will declare them “cured”, and they’ll be out doing it again. This is probably NOT their first brush with the law on child abuse. When it is not stopped and the abusers permanently put out of circulation, the abuse only escalates. You see it over and over again in the news. Do you have the observance where you live, that they put a little toy pinwheel on the courthouse. lawn for every child who dies because of abuse?

      How very sad it is to see all those merry little pinwheels spinning in the breeze–they cover the entire LAWN in front of the courthouse–and know that each ONE of them stands for a child who was left in the hands of people like these, and nobody did anything to protect them.

      This obsession with not wanting to seperate families because the judicial/medical and social service people have indoctrinated the public to believe that keeping a family intact is the highest value and primary aim of family intervention- solidarity for the parents over defenseless children-more of this might makes right-only the strong survive- trrickle down from our policies in the world- american morality -is part of this problem of brainwashed people not reporting screaming children or other red flags.. And another sign of those christians-see how they love one another-.and those hypocritical americans policing the world like they have the moral highgriound.Clean up your own house you anti muslim genocidal bigots! But yes these people should be executed for this!And abolish the foster care industry where children are placed with complete strangers and have little or no recourse behind closed doors where there is no transparency and oversight of how life is with these strangers taking care of children.Any one can be a foster parent practically and defenseless children are at the mercy of these people.preferable would be transparent institutions[orphanages[well run and transparent with plenty of oversight and watch dogs where children always have recouse if an adult is mistreating them.

      @ jtchodgie I would guess God was in the same place he was when his son was murdered. It is called the fall of man, we can’t pick and choose when and where he intervenes as much as we would like to. I lost a child to an accident so assume God intervened on this little girls behalf, do I then have the right to be bitter because he didn’t intervene for my son? If we use your logic he would have to intervene in every situation that ever occurred last I checked that would be perfection. She now is in perfection with him in heaven and yes it was horrific what she went through and no one should have to face that but back to my first statement, it is a fallen world and evil does exist.

      To JTC…..thank you. I’m sorry that you lost your mother at a young age. I am also sorry that you are unable to step up and face your own demons and instead blame God for whatever happened to your mother. It goes without saying that everyone who posts on here, reads this, or just sits down at a computer has gone through some incredibly dark times.
      I know that I have and nothing comes from blaming God for not giving you a perfect life free of struggle and pain. None of us get a life like that. Do I blame God for this? Nope. I blame myself and the rest of us. We don’t often live up to our potential and in cases like this one some people live up only to the potential to be prideful and selfish hell-spawn. Worse, some of us live up to being nothing more than spectators to atrocity who use excuse after excuse to validate to ourselves we aren’t bad people…just people who made a simple mistake.
      I sincerely wish I was able to personally wring the necks of every person involved from this neighborhood. I also sincerely wish that I could call on God for one spectacular lightening show for these same people. Lacking that, I pray that every moment of every day of the rest of their lives is spent with a knowledge of what their lack of action led to. I also hope their nights are spent reliving this young girl’s life.
      In closing I would just like to say I will pray for you and them…even if you don’t want me to.

      I will pray for you that you do not harden your heart towards Jesus, the one who died so you can choose eternal life. I have seen first hand an uncle harden his. He lost his son in a hunting accident. My family lost a brother, cousin, nephew, and a grandson. My uncle blamed God for around 20 years and cursed him every chance he got. He could not understand how a father could ever give his son to die for others, let alone take his son from him. Everyone will experience loss in there lives, and rarely understand why. We simply are not capable of seeing the entire picture of life. But thankfully for a loving and caring Father, and many prayers, I will be watching my uncles baptism in the weeks to come. He has come to know the love God had for you and I when he sent his son to die for our sins. I will pray for the same outcome for you, hopefully you will see this and not spend decades with misplaced anger as I have seen with my uncle.

      I have seen this Rose-Ellen before a couple times. You’re right. She sounds like a complete animal in every post. I thought she was just another crazy Liberal but, she’s not just plain stupid and crazy, she’s “off the charts” stupid and crazy.
      Her argument made no sense. Rose-Ellen obviously knows nothing about Christianity? No one even mentioned Christianity nor Islam. So, she’s obviously the very crazy and bigoted person she is denouncing. I think that you’re right, she seems a crazy Muslim.       @ jtc I am sorry but you are contradicting yourself. How is it possible if God is in my imagination that he can be blamed for doing bad things. Also you have an awful lot of hatred for something that doesn’t exist. You can’t have it both ways. So if he does exist since you are blaming him, lets get back to my original question since you didn’t answer it ( I did not ask where he was when my son died) I asked where he was when his son died. Blaming him is a scapegoat argument, it allows us to avoid responsibility for our own actions. The ones that need to be blamed are the ones who did it. Also you didn’t answer the other fundamental question: who are you or who am I to dictate when he intervenes? Like I said before if he intervened in your mom‘s case can I then be mad because my son didn’t make it? If you follow that line of thought he has to intervene in every situation which means there is never going to be any wrongdoing or heartache.       God isn’t responsible for evil in the world. He can use bad for good, and he can allow things to happen so in the end He is given the glory, but he doesn’t do the evil. If you belong to Him, Satan has to ask permission to harm you…if you don‘t then you’re free game for the devil. It’s possible (and in my human-ness, I don’t presume to know the mind of God) that this was the girl’s only escape. We still have free will, and perhaps he gave her abusers more than enough time to change and they chose to reject Him. I was abused as a child, and I know he was there holding my hand through the whole thing. it made me a stronger person today. That said, it‘s up to us mere humans to punish the abusers but they will get an eternal punishment if they don’t, in the end, turn to him.

      I got news for you: It’s not the right wing that insists that children stay with an abuser, it’s the liberals. Do you think conservatives run Family Services? I was a police dispatcher north of Chicago in the 90′s. We had a case of adults passed out and a 3 year old tried to teach a 1 year old how to light a lighter. Caught the crib on fire and the adults just left the house and the baby burned to death. They left all those children with the single mother. The police petitioned to have the child removed, before this incident because the mother was unfit, but the liberals at DCFS refused.

      JTCH.. get your head screwed on man. God gave us free will and with free will we all have the choice to do right or wrong. When allowing humans free will, you can’t just go in and intercept the bad deeds. That would be redundant and pointless.
      What good is having your creation love you if they if they love without the choice to love willingly? So He gave us that choice and we will be judged on those choices.
      I absolutely cannot understand for the life of me why people think God is responsible for the bad that goes on, or is at least responsible for stoppin the bad.

    I hope those neighbors are haunted by what they did for the rest of their lives and are never able to forget it. I don’t know how someone could watch a dog be abused and not do something, never mind children. You have to be sub human to allow that to go on and do nothing.

    So, the neighbors didn‘t report their suspicions of child abuse because they didn’t want to break up the family. Oh, sweet Jesus! The relatives aren’t the only guilty ones here.

    This child didn’t just die “at the hands of those who were suppose to love and care for her”. It’s true, abortion has become so accepted, that the value of life, especially those of the weak and disabled, have become worthless. Shame on her relatives, shame on her neighbors for being cowardly silent.

    Ame, you poor little girl – you didn’t deserve this. I pray you are being hugged and loved by Jesus and that all your memories of suffering have been wiped away.

      I believe that abortion has so muddied the moral waters in this country that the more mentally chalenged among us–like THIS subhuman bunch–really cannot see any difference between killing them in the womb and killing them after they are out of it. Look at the number of babies thrown into dumpsters to die, after their brain-dead mothers deliver them–they do NOT see a distinction between killing a child in the womb and killing it after it is born. I hope the “progressives” are proud of the “culture of death” they have spread through our country. No matter WHAT they argue about “choice”, it is a FACT that easily available abortion lessens the regard for life in general and children in particular, and opens the door to horrors like this one.

      I have followed the story for some time now; evil at its purest and darkest indeed.

      God rest her soul for she is in a better place, and I doubt there will be much mercy for these killers and abusers of her in the courts; as long as the prosecution does their job and not turn it into a circus for their own careers.

      This poor child. I have 5 granddaughters. I know they are well taken care of. How can people not have seen the signs of this inhuman treatment, and if they saw the signs, how could anyone turn away? This child is in the arms of the Lord now, receiving the care and love she needed while she was here on earth. God bless all the children here who are suffering.

      Justice for these killers-except if there’s a mack truck.The circus in the anthony case was the media bombarding us with this local story day in and day out and now we know why. the media not the prosecution created a circus but we were hostages to the media[left,right and center on this one] imposing it on us. When as a result of it being crammed down our throats ,we formed an opinion,we were riddiculed andbbecause we rightfully challenged the reasonableness of the jurys decisions were called unamerican or ignorant of the sustem etc. nancy grace was falsely made a scapegoat when she was just another voice on the media.And yes it is irrational to not see complicity in a child‘s death if you as the parent don’t report a missing or dead child and when challenged are caught lying. it is irrational to not see at the least accidental homicide or neglict. And still the media will tell us we don’t understand the system if we maintain the jury reneged out of bias[jury nulligication because they liked the defense and disliked the prsecutor]or they were truly manipulated to throw out their common [reasonable] sense!.Amazing Now you open a door for more child killers; only again willing to pin it on the prosecution if another stupid jury takes this case!How we love the powerful in this country.Especially where forever silent children are involved!

Shame on you neighbors, who heard the screams and did not call the police or child care protection because you did not want to break up a family… You did not break up a family, you contributed to the death of a 10 year old and the constant abuse of the other young vulnerable children, in that hell hole…

      A couple of years ago, I saw a woman snatch up a toddler who was running away fm her. His attire was his diaper. I called the local PD who did come. I followed her back to her house and waited and watched fm the curb. Another child was running naked in the yard. The woman came to my car to verbally accost me. Her husband tried to cajole me to make me go away. It was tough, but I waited.

      The police came and investigated. They told me that they have multiple incidents with her and knew her well. The child was not kidnapped but actually hers.

      The next day, I told my supervisor (I taught at a Christian school). She made fun of me for having gotten involved in what was clearly, to her eyes, a family discipline matter.

      This incident reminds me that I was correct, if ineffective in making that kid’s life any better.

      We have got to stop walking by stuff like this. We much become that Good Samaritan that Jesus commended. We cannot be the priest or Levite w/other things to do.

      Many years ago, I attempted to intervene in a situation where a young girl (13 years old) was being molested and beaten up by her older brother on a regular basis. The child protection authorities interviewed the mother who told them there was no problem and that the girl was just a little “hard to handle”. They (the authorities) then told me to mind my own business. So much for trying to help.

      The older brother had been taking a lot of drugs, stealing from his mother, and threatening to come home late one night and kill everyone in the house if she caused him any trouble. His mother told me this. I was well aware of many of the details of what was going on because I knew the family, worked with the mother, and occasionally took care of the younger kids. He was terrorizing the family.

      I decided to end my relationship with this family and the crazy brother began to stalk ME. I kept in touch with the young girl and she told me her brother had a gun and intended to kill me. He called me at my parents’ house several times and threatened me directly. My dad wanted to confront the “punk” but I knew I could not involve them in this so I ran. The police could do nothing about the threats and stalking until he actually DID something to me and I wasn’t about to give him the chance. It seemed I kept just one jump ahead of him for the next six months and finally he seemed to lose interest because I just kept moving from state to state farther and farther away. I never went

      If there was ever a good reason for the death penalty, this is it right here. I can‘t see these ’people’ as ever being reformed or salvagable as human beings. Set alone parents or good citizens.

    There has always been abuse. I believe that there are more horrific crimes of child abuse since Roe VS. Wade. It has lessened the value of human life. Poor baby ! A dose of their own medicine is called for. Prayers for her little soul and the others still out there getting abused.

    Nothing will be done with them, those kids are only welfare payments for the family and a subsidy for the government. Casey Anthony comes to mind. If they are perosecuted they will be released. Seems that the worse you treat children the less you will be punished. Upside down, inside out. Bizarro World.

    Other news media reported that the other two people involved are her cousin, the daughter of one of the older women, & her husband. They are all sick individuals. I just cannot ever understand why you would treat anyone this way, but especially a defenseless kid. I wish they would all get the death penalty.

    Is there no end to the pain and suffering of children today? Just when I think I’ve seen it all, something like this comes to light. These adults will never feel the fear, the disgust, the pain this poor little girl endured during her brief life. Life in prison is not enough for this group.

    Any neighbor that said they heard screaming and didn‘t call because they didn’t want to ‘break the family up’ should be in jail for aiding them. Period. That’s a ridiculous excuse and every single one of them is just as guilty.

    In fact, anyone in that neighborhood that saw them being marched around outside naked and things should be taken in to prison as well.

    This report just breaks my heart. Getting beyond the horror of what this child endured I am outraged that neighbors witnessed things they DIDN’T REPORT and that the child protective services fails miserably to protect children. I pray that the remaining children have been rescued and will not be returned to this sadistic and ignorant family so that the contagion of aberration at least in this blood line will come to an end. Were it up to me, such crimes would be punishable by the perpetrators enduring what they have dished out. I no longer have faith that our legal system will deal justice for Amy.
