Police Not Ruling Out Possibility Brutal Neb. Hate Crime Was Staged

Police in Lincoln, Neb. have not ruled out the possibility that a reported anti-gay hate crime may have been staged, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

(Related: ‘We Found U ’Dy**’: 3 Masked Men Allegedly Mutilate Lesbian After Breaking Into Her Home During Grisly Hate Crime)

Chief Jim Peschong said Tuesday investigators were not certain the attack on a 33-year-old woman took place, but that it was too early to tell whether it was a hoax. Police have no suspects, he told the Journal Star.

The alleged victim told police three masked men entered her home early Sunday, tied her up and carved anti-gay slurs into her skin. Police confirmed the woman had been injured and was treated at a local hospital, according to Reuters. “Multiple detectives” were working the case, a department spokesman told Reuters, and an FBI agent had joined the investigation Tuesday, the Journal Star reported.

Megan Mikolajczyk, the Lincoln attorney representing the woman who reported the crime, told the newspaper her client did not wish to make a statement about it.

Dawn Thorfinnson, a friend of the alleged victim, told the Journal Star when she first heard about the attack “it seemed far-fetched and hard to believe.”

“It’s entirely understandable (police) are not ready to believe something this horrid would happen, and it would actually be almost better if it never did,” she said. “I would hate to find out anything that she said wasn’t actually real.”

Thorfinnson said she believes her friend is telling the truth.

“That would shock me. I know enough about (her) that I know this is not at all something she’d be capable of doing,” she said.

Thorfinnson said her friend’s attackers targeted her after watching her perform with a 5-year-old girl during Omaha’s Gay Pride Parade on June 30. She said the woman lip-synced Elton John’s “Your Song” while the child danced in a tutu. Thorfinnson said her friend wanted to work to make the world a more tolerant place for future generations of gay and lesbian children to grow up.

The local community has rallied behind the woman since she reported the attack, including holding a candlelight vigil and donating funds to support her recovery.

I don’t know if it is a hoax or not but when I saw she had been tied up with zip-ties I thought it was strange. It is the only thing you can tie yourself up with and make it look like someone else did it.

If you research any actual hate crimes against lesbians anywhere in the world it ends with a rape, and comments of “ now you are a woman” or “we will make you a real woman” . There was no rape and no such comment so I think this is a hoax and I bet that is why the cops think so too.

When I first saw the article I looked for the word rape and there was no mention of it. Google lesbian hate attacks etc and you will see.

I had doubts about this from the begining. Something told me it MIGHT be a hoax. Unlike the media, I don’t rush to judgement. I’ll let the police investigate, and come to their conclusions. After which, we deal with those who have done wrong. IF, it was a “hate crime”, then punish the SOBs who did it. IF not, we need to start punishing these frauds to the fullest extent of the law! Either way. Punish the guilty, not the inocent.

You too? I thought that odd. I’m a recovering red-neck, and my first inclination is to spell it with an i.

My other thought was if it’s real, maybe she did more than “perform” with a child…there is a group for woman/girl love just like there is man/boy…I think it’s called Butterfly kisses or something stupid like that.

@Vasbyt – While that happens and is horrendous, it is not true that all anti-Lesbian hate crimes are rapes. Yes i did google it and according to research: “it is estimated that approximately 10% of all hate crimes against lesbians includes some form of sexual assault (Comstock, 1999).

Unfortunately, Lesbians have a history of staging “attacks” on them.
More unfortunately, some people do actually engage in physical attacks against homosexuals.

Its the job of police to figure out the truth.

Its the job of the press to selectively report the facts — or, absent any facts, to speculate that “Tea Partiers” did something evil.

The job of the police is to protect the politicians and the rackettes run by them and their cronies. Also, to soak the public for as much money as they possibly can. Investigating “crimes” is a side job for them.

I’m not sure it was staged if you know really religious people they don’t know how to react to violence at all I think they were stunned plus they would not attach this guy back but that is how they are. I just think they were so stunned by what happened calling out aggressor is the best they could do. This guy wanted a fight when he didn’t get a fight he zipped out fast knowing the cops may be on the way. Pushing the guy over the fire hydrant was very dangerous and could have injured the guy severely.

That’s America. Give someone enough money and moral support and everything is better. Most of these are staged for money. I am sure the police have found some serious discrepancies in her statements if they think it may be staged. Americans, quit giving away your hard earned money to people you do not know with only half the information. It makes you ripe for con artists.

(3 weeks later…after it is discovered that she staged the entire thing…and the DA is considering pressing charges…she holds a press conference)…

(With trembling chin held high, and tears rolling down her face she says,

“I staged this as a form of artisitic expression, so that everyone would know the terrible hatred, and oppression that all gay people undergo on a daily basis. These scars I carry will be badges of honor detailing the terrible suffering experienced by gays across the world. I want to thank all my gay brothers and sisters who have supported me in this terrible ordeal”

The liberal press will practically sigh in collective support for this brave woman.

The DA; after considering the outpouring of support from the media and the gay community will quietly drop the charges.

    Case Closed.

The neighbors would see 3 men running out of her house or apartment. That would then seem to confirm her story.

Poster NZKIWI mentioned yesterday that the flammable fluid used for the supposed burning of the home was merely a puddle on the kitchen floor.

The “carved” wounds were more like deep scratches..on the woman’s legs and forehead..and she was naked. Seriously…three thugs strip a woman naked, tie her up, don’t sexually attack her but scratch her legs and forehead..put a puddle of fluid on the kitchen floor and set it alight, neatly write anti lesbian graffitti on a part of the house no one outside the house would see and the “victim” manages to run out and alert a neighbor. And no DNA..no nothing as far as suspects.

These guys have elevated home invasion and sexual assaults to Jason Bourne levels apparently.

Bingo. It’s about how disordered their condition truly is; arrested development, seething hatred for those who hurt them in their childhood. Borderline personality disorder and/or traits (cutting, faint and failed cries for help), creativity poorly applied, self-loathing, it’s all there. That’s my take on it anyway, and I’m sticking to it. I’m sure Thespian packing hollow points can relate.
