WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities in Washington say police shot a man who pointed a gun at them on Capitol Hill.
U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider says a lookout went out around 5 a.m. Friday for a man with a gun.
Officers later saw the man, who pointed the gun at them. Schneider says the officers opened fire after the man refused to drop his weapon.
The man, whose name has not been released, was brought to a hospital. His condition is not immediately known.
No other injuries were reported.
Schneider says the Metropolitan Police Department is assisting with the investigation.

The truth is, this person pointed a gun at police, and it appears from the information here that the police responded as they should have. None of that has anything to do with Obama, the Tea Party, George Soros, or the price of tin foil hats in Idaho. Don’t let yourself get drawn into a discussion the Left will use to make us out to be violent lunatics. Remember, the truth is the truth, and once we get drawn into these discussions, it gets obscured by their idiocy.
And for those who advocate violence – what exactly do you think that would get us? It would provide the perfect excuse for a crackdown, the perfect excuse for seizing guns. Our founders used violence because all other options had been exhausted. That is not the case here.
How about we try using the methods our oft-ignored Constitution provides – VOTE THE IDIOTS OUT, dammit!
