OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) — Police in Wisconsin say the FBI will handle the investigation of shootings at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee.
Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards says the case is being treated as a domestic terrorism case and the FBI is better equipped to handle that.
Here is Edwards’ explanation:
Edwards added during the news conference Sunday afternoon that seven people are dead, including the suspected shooter, and three people are wounded. One of those is a police officer shot by the suspect.
According to JS Online out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a congressional letter in April urged the FBI to track hate crimes against Sikhs:
Ninety-two members of U.S. Congress signed a letter to the Department of Justice in April urging the FBI to collect information on hate crimes committed against Sikh Americans, according to Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.)
Crowley’s Web page says Sikh Americans are members of a community “that is acutely susceptible to violence because of their appearance.”
“The more information our law enforcement agencies have on violence against Sikh-Americans, the more they can do to help prevent these crimes and bring those who commit them to justice,” Crowley says in a statement posted on his Web page.
“The Department of Justice and FBI have carried out important outreach efforts in coalition with the Sikh community, but these efforts must also be paired with data collection to ensure we are doing everything possible,” it says.
The shootings happened about 10:30 a.m. as people were gathering for a service at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, which is just south of Milwaukee.

Oh, there’s been talk about regulating magazine capacities and extending background checks, but surprisingly little.
So much more rewarding to use these atrocities irritate certain exposed nerves, to stir up the faithful over the issue of “gun control” without being at all specific. “OMG, doesn’t this prove we need to do something about guns? Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:46pmThe sad part of all this, no one seems to be caring and talking about the people that were killed. We are more concern about the shooter first. Some will probably start, and have started, comparing this to other recent shootings. There are differences. In the last mass shooting, the victims were highlighted greatly. But, in this one, it will be more the shooter and the FBI. Why? The place, and most likely, the people who were killed and wounded. Their ethnic and cultural standing. As some have pointed out, this will be used as a political weapon to make Obama look good. The ethnic and cultural warfare continues. And the progressives and liberals will eat it up.
Report Post »Lloyd Drako
Posted on August 5, 2012 at 8:06pmYes, within hours of Aurora we were beginning to get the names of the victims, the heroes among them who died saving others, and so on. This has not yet really begun over Oak Creek, but expect it soon. It will be harder for most people to wrap their tongues around strange Sikh names, but not impossible. The media will surely cover a funeral or two
You’re wrong about the likely politics of this. If Obama really wants to make political capital out of this, you will soon find him (or his minions) singling some out some of the victims, telling the story of their undoubtedly “American” dreams and aspirations, wringing a lot of mileage out of their families’ tears, using them to plead for liberal values like toleration and multi-cultural understanding, and so on.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 7:26pmTerrorism is the systematic use of terror, especially as a means of coercion. In the international community, however, terrorism has no universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition.[1][2] Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or, ideological goal; and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians). Some definitions now include acts of unlawful violence and war
-Wiki
How is this horrible act terrorism? The shooter is dead. Therefore he cannot do it again & be “SYSTEMATIC”.
Loughner was a kid who listened to everyone who had a beef or conspiracy theory about the governement, this or that group until he was totally screwed up.
James Holmes was mad at the world because he never fit in. When he didn’t pass a final exam for the year that he could retake, he decided to take it on society.
Who knows with this shooter. I suspect that he hated Muslims but I don’t know. Maybe he hated foreigners. How hard it is to mistake Sikhs for Muslims. There have been so many stories ran on it for the last 17 years I wonder who didn’t get that memo?
But systematic? No there is no system here but a bad economy, tearing down of faith groups (replacing it with ___?) & tearing down patriotism.

None are safe in the rise of domestic terrorism. I am convinced this kind of access to weapons emboldens international terrorists. We have gone from protection from the wild to a state of war.” Anyone else see a pattern here ? Wonder if the Wisconsin case will be treated with the lock down silence of the Colorado case or will be treated as the media circus/ witch hunt in Florida. Posted on August 5, 2012 at 5:57pmTranslation – Holder found out the shooter is neither muslim or a minority so now he will use this to advance the agenda of gun control, make Obama look good, and blame the conservatives and the tea party.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:12pmI just used Google to search Holder and Sikh shooting. I found an Eric Holder, Washington DC. that is connected with crimes against the US Constitution, and is wanted for raping Liberty. I wonder if, even though we don’t know, if this is the same Eric Holder. I haven’t verified this, but I just want to get it out there. Again, I don’t know if this is the Same Eric Holder, but it is one that lives in the DC area, and whose name is connected with the shooting.
I also found a Joe Smith that is part of the Tea Party, Orlando Florida, he became a member last year, even though we don’t know at this time, there is a Joe Smith of the Tea Party, Orlando Florida.
Hey wait, I found a lot of hits on a Scott Walker, Madison Wisconsin, I don’t know at this time, but he has been in the news a lot this year. Again, a Scott Walker, Madison WI, may be connected, we just aren’t sure at this time.
Hey ABC, how am I doing, can I be one of your reporters, I can use google.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 5:02amIt is more likely that Holder and his cohorts orchestrated this from the start… the start being long before the shooting occurred. Holder would never have planted, designated a Muslim to be the shooter. In order to maximize the gun-control potential, it is crucial to their stratagem that it be a single, unstable, gun-happy, outsider/loner, domestic, white male.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 5:56pmI thought no one was “permitted” to use the word “terrorism” anymore? I guess when it is considered “domestic terrorism” it’s different. >:-( And why it is so quickly assumed as such by law enforcement? They seem to list everything else as “alleged” even when it’s plain as day what happened (and plenty of witnesses!). Why can‘t they assume that it’s just some crazy nutcase as easily as they assume “domestic terrorism” which implies there’s some thicker plot? Just wondering aloud here. . .

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:01pmI guess if this nut job yelled “ALLAH AKBAR” he would have been considered a madman, NOT a domestic terrorist. He would be in the clear, just like the Foot Hood Muslim extremist.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:03pmI completely agree with you and why is this not a STATE issue? Why does the government keep overstepping its boundaries? This is rhetorical of course…we know the answer.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:27pm@Delta D-5-3 I was thinking the same thing.
Well hopefully justice will be served in this case. Obama’s FBI would not be happy if they found that this white man was white Muslim.
Ether way the man is a terrorist and should be charged as such.

Report Post »The-Real-Enrico
Posted on August 5, 2012 at 6:05pmI agree. This was a act of terrorism and so was fort hood.
It seems like they are comfortable to label and call proclaim this a act of terrorism because the suspect is not known to be Muslim and is a white male.
We will see.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 8:10pmCome on, Fort Hood was just a Muslim trying to protect himself from hundreds of intolerant infidels. He was simply exercising his freedom of religion and killed because Mohammad told him to. Therefore, it wasn’t terror or work place violence, it was self defense. Sorry, I was just channeling Eric Holder.
Ft Hood was Domestic terrorism, but won‘t be deemed such because he didn’t single out one specific type of people, he just randomly shot, just like the Aurora shooter. There lies the definition.

Posted on August 5, 2012 at 8:14pmWhat was Fort Hood? It’s obvious that it was a combination of religious fanaticism, job stress and mental disorder–plus of course ready access to weapons. As a military man, Hasan is subject to military justice and seems likely to be executed. Why does it matter so much to you whether you call it “domestic” or “international” terrorism, or terrorism of any kind?

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 7:12amMy question too. The difference is the obvious bias of the obama regime. This stinks to high heaven of manipulation. If you read the definitions of hate crime vs. domestic terrorism, any fifth grader could tell you this act fits under hate crime (well, maybe not because they don’t teach the truth in our schools). But as he has done all along, obama and his regime change the meaning of our laws just to fit their agenda.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 11:59amOne of you asked:
Why does it matter so much to you whether you call it “domestic” or “international” terrorism, or terrorism of any kind?
Because Ft. Hood being labeled as “workplace violence” despite all the evidence saying the shooter was in jihad with the infidel and even yelled “Allah Ahkbar” upon killing- clearly an act of terrorism.
Report Post »Yet this gov’t chooses to pretend otherwise. As a result of the incorrect labeling, many wounded & families of fallen soldiers are not eligible for various benefits/programs/help that would otherwise be available. SERIOUS difference. Of course what do you expect from a party who wishes to suppress the very vote the military risks their lives to protect?
Lloyd Drako
Posted on August 6, 2012 at 1:25pmThe Fort Hood victims are not eligible for Purple Hearts because they did not die in combat outside the US. Legislation has been introduced that would remedy that. Otherwise, the labelling of Hasan’s atrocity seems to make no difference except to those who would use it as a stick to beat Obama with.
