Police: Occupy Portland May Be Linked to Molotov Cocktail Attack

Police in Portland, Oregon, are investigating who was responsible for setting off an improvised incendiary device outside of the city’s World Trade Center building. Authorities are looking into a potential connection to Occupy Portland, as protestors are camping out in parks located just one block away from the scene of the crime.

The Trade Center is home to an electric utility, government offices, law firms and U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley’s office. On Tuesday night, Lt. Robert King said that a Molotov cocktail (a device intended to ignite a fire rather than to instantaneously destroy as a bomb would) caused minor damage to an external stairwell.

According to King, preliminary information seems to indicate “a connection” to the protest movement. On October 31, police apparently gained knowledge through unconfirmed reports that gasoline-filled bottles were being produced (complete with cloth wicks) at the local encampments.

The Portland Tribune has more regarding information that was given in a press release put out by the local police:

The release described Molotov Cocktails as “a glass bottle filled with a flammable liquid such as gasoline, with a rag or cloth sticking out of the bottle as a wick. Once the wick is ignited, the person holding the Molotov cocktail throws it, breaking the glass and spreading the ignited fluid.” [...]

While it’s important to note that this information about Molotov “Portland Police Bureau investigators are working to learn more about this information and are asking for the public’s help.”

The release also said, “The storage and/or construction of Molotov cocktails represents a significant public safety threat of injury.”

Here’s another report from KOIN-TV:

Police are asking the public to help by volunteering any known information about the incident. Officials are also warning that more attacks are possible. At this point, aside from identifying the responsible parties, authorities will also be working to determine where these Molotov cocktails came from and whether there is cause to fear further use and production of the devices.

Earlier, the Blaze shared an expletive-filled rant that one Occupy Portland protestor spewed at a news reporter. Additionally, we’re reported on local arrests in Portland.

It should be noted that the Occupy movement’s involvement is only alleged at this point, though police seem to view it as a strong possibility.

That may be true, as portrayed by the mainstream media, but it isn’t absolutely true.

FYI, I’m not a OWS protestor, or a criminal. So when you refer to “you criminals”, it isn’t referring to me.

I don’t have to cry wolf, I don’t get any benefit from it.

we can without error agree to some facts at these occupy locations that is represntitive by some of the protesters but not all; there has been sexual assault, robbery, drug dealings, drug overdose, deaths, assaults, using of children as human shields, assault on police, property destruction, tres passing, extreme hatred towards Jews and Christians and probably several other crimes I am not aware of. Now if any other group had similar crimes committed by some of its’ members, would local, state and federal law enforcement not intervened/ from all the evidence that has been reluctantly reported by the media, there is plenty of evidence to envoke the rico act and prosecute the leaders of this conspiracy.

Alleged? Based on the ethics of the MSM then of course the OWS folks are absolutely guilty as “alleged”, their names and photos should be published as being the guilty perpetrators and their reputations (such as they may be) ruined for life. That’s the MSM idea of “fair” isn’t it?

If a person constructs an improvised incendiary device and uses it, how far away is the thought to make an improvised explosive device? I think not too far away.

The violence will continue to escalate because when they nudge there is no push back. Sooner or later, someone will be seriously wounded or killed. At that point, riots will begin in city that is occupied. When that happens, the National Guard will be called in to surpress the riotors. The same National Guard that is combat trained and experienced. At that point, many college students who have not actively participated will participate and the riots will grow.

The riots will spill over to our neighborhoods since we are the enemy. We will assert our 2nd Amendment rights and castle laws.

The crisis is at hand and Obama will declare martial law across the entire US. The elections will be cancelled.

Man, it’s like watch an tsunami coming. Somebody war gamed this well.

GONZO..the violence is already escalating it’s only a matter of time before this degenerates into the all too familiar violent protests we see time and time from the left. The costs are growing in each city as well. Business losing money, cutting staff. Any city official that has sided with these vermin at that point will be on political life support. Most vulnerable are Quan in Oakland and Elizabeth Warren in MA (yeah I know..it’s Oakland and Massachussets…just indulge me). Obama will also have to explain himself on the national stage.

They would likely flourish in that environment causing severe discomfort to all living in the camp. I would hate for that to happen to all those nice people, they’d likely have to disband the entire operation and leave their parks.

At that level organized crime is a fact, they have the money and the recources and they aren`t trying to hide it anymore. I don`t think it`s street level such as the police. The caos is being created at a high level. This is much bigger than the police. Have you ever considered moving to a communist country like Cuba or Venezuela ? My children`s mother is from Venezuela, I`ve spent alot of time there. Communism is not where it`s at. The police there would have put an end to these protest long ago. You don`t get to go into the street in Venezuela or Cuba and do what these fools in the street here are doing. The police would not be shooting rubber bullets. Get you a ticket and go down there for a week or two. You will have a different view of the country you were raised in when you get back.

Talk about controlling propaganda. Today we have also seen the Left use character assassinations galore: Bush, Cheney, Palin, Beck, Cain to name a few. If they start actually start using “the deed” tactic, that means that they feel emboldened by the lack of push back to their Occupy tactics ( another anarchist tactic). Guess we can only hope their are enough sensible, educated citizens you do NOT support all of this chaos. ENFORCE the laws on our books, politicos. I live here and the mayor of Portland, Sam Adams, who is best known for having sex with a boy in men’s room at City Hall when he was a City Commissioner, won’t lift a finger. The only time he did anything was when they tried to move from a commercial district to an upscale residential neighborhood where most of monetary support comes from. Then he had them arrested in a middle of the night raid the first night they were there.

Portland has a long history of coddling this type of insanity while suppressing any conservative voice. In fact, mere progressives and liberals are actually considered right-wingers here while the lefties are really off-the-scale and very scary.

I invite all people to boycott Oregon, Particularly Portland and Multnomah County. Do not vacation here. Do not ski, camp, fish or even buy a tank of gas in Oregon.

And so we see the escalation to the next level, first protest loud and long, try to force the police into making hasty actions while claiming police brutality; then turn violent, and now the level continues to be a constant escalation of force.

They claim to be non violent, and now fairly well know what comes next — someone will soon wind up paying the ultimate price for these terrorists actions, and yes that is now what I deem them to be.

The deliberate usage of force for the purposes of intimidation and social change, the sign of anarchist and terrorist bands…and especially the administration and the union leadership.

Watch for the first usage of force against the Jewish people, minorities, the targeted bankers and their families, and the police.

Soon enough the blood will flow, and understand we are past nudge, and past shove; we are now to the point of “shoot” and Mr Obama is just waiting to crash the iron fist down from above.

Anyone else sense where this administration is heading with their tacit support of the anarchist Occupiers? Since Obama has stirred his labor and anarchists bases with all of the above, does anyone else sense where this is headed ?

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson.
We’re headed for a tyrannical dictatorship with our Marxist president salivating at the thought of a civil war so he can crack down on the people and restore order,to his liking of course, constitution be dammed.

Barber2 I’ve wondered if our military would follow orders and kill Americans?
I‘m retired Air force and would like to think they wouldn’t do that, maybe some officers would do what they’re suppose to do,adhere to the constitution and protect it from a tyrant,

Isn‘t like they haven’t perpetrated false-flag attacks before.

Obviously no, save in these terrorists warped minds. We are now at the stage past nudge and shove and into “shoot” that will soon see Obama make his own move to crush the nation once and for all into a socialist nightmare.

No, the Tea Party are just domestic terrorists who own firearms.

This is just like the Feds and Police…place a fake or real IED to do a false-flag attacks, and then blame it on the protestors OR the Tea Party..or WHOEVER THEY WANT.

The TSA is raping citizens and molesting people more than the OWS protestors. The Police and the Feds are terrorists.

The media can keep up with all their attempts to compare the OWS to the Tea Party, but Americans are not stupid. The left had to create a pathetic opposition to counter the Tea Party. The OWS movement is a pawn, and will be sacrificed by those behind it, when the time is right, in order to grab more power.

@V-Man Wow… you are pathetic. You have the gall to say that the Tea Party are terrorists, even though there has never been and never will be any violence or arrests stemming from them, let alone rape and vandalism, and at the same time defend the OWS camp, who have support from communists, Nazis, David Duke, Ayatollah, the Administration, the list goes on… not to mention the violence, vandalism, defecation on cop cars, sexual assault of both men and women, and several other incidents that have exploded out of OWS.

Comparing OWS to the Tea Party is laughable. So laughable, in fact, I think I’m going to cry.

I’m also sure that if the Tea Party were accused of violence, you would say the Police were using plants and false accusations. Yeah. Sure.

I‘m sorry that you don’t have the ability to recognize sarcasm. It happens to all of us sometimes.

I’m a Tea Party member. I’m not a terrorist. But to DHS, we are domestic terrorists.

I don‘t buy your assertion that the Tea Party isn’t up for some civil disobedience… they did toss that Tea into the harbor…

I defend their right to protest and I stand against heavy-handed police state intrusion and infiltration of the protests.

I think the Tea Party has been infiltrated by the cops and Feds, and will be eventually accused of violence and demogogued the same way the MSM and Police are portraying the OWS protestors. The Nazis are coming to their house to get those guns. Mark my words.
