Police: Woman Faked Gruesome Anti-Gay Attack to Spark Change — May Have Even Carved Gay Slurs Into Own Skin

Nebraska Basketball Star Charlie Rogers Allegedly Faked Horrific Anti Gay Attack to Spark Change

Charlie Rogers explains the alleged attack to KETV in July. (Photo: KETV)

(The Blaze/AP) — A former University of Nebraska women’s basketball star faked an attack in which she allegedly carved anti-gay slurs into her skin because she felt it would spark change, police said Tuesday.

Four days before Charlie Rogers crawled naked and bleeding from her Lincoln home, screaming for help, she outlined in a Facebook post what investigators believe was her motive for faking the July 22 attack, Police Chief Jim Peschong said at a news conference.

“So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe way deep inside me that we can make things better for everyone. I will be a catalyst. I will do what it takes. I will. Watch me,” read the July 18 posting, according to police.

Furthermore, genetic testing on evidence gathered at the crime scene undermines Rogers’ account of what happened, Peschong said.

Charlie Rogers, 33, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to making a false police report and was released on her own recognizance. She didn’t respond to a message seeking comment left Tuesday at a number listed as hers, but her lawyer, Brett McArthur, said she maintains the attack happened and plans to vigorously defend herself.

“This has been a very traumatic event for her, and having the focus of the investigation turn toward her has been really hard,” said McArthur, who described Rogers as reserved and soft-spoken, and not the type to seek attention.

Below is an interview Rogers did with KETV in late July, where she expressed disappointment that the focus of the investigation seemed to be turning towards her.

“What matters is the story, you know?  That’s awful.  It feels awful to me.  This is an investigation.  This is a crime.  This is not– it deserves a level of respect.  I know when these sorts of things happen, it ignites fires, and that’s a good thing in some ways…” she said.

According to police, Rogers said three masked men broke into her home, and that one of them pinned her down while another sliced a cross into her chest, cut the front of her thighs and shins and carved derogatory words in her arms and abdomen. She said they then rolled her onto her stomach and cut her buttocks, the back of her thighs and the back of her right calf. She also said they tried to burn down her house.

The community’s gay community responded swiftly, and hundreds turned out for a rally that weekend outside the state Capitol.

But now, four Nebraska gay-rights groups that followed the case have released a joint statement crediting police for conducting what they believe was a balanced and thorough investigation.

Police reportedly found a pile of clothes, white knit gloves, and a red box cutter on the living room floor after the alleged attack. Rogers said the gloves didn’t belong to her, but investigators determined that much of the DNA found inside the glove was Rogers’, and that none of it came from a male.

Peschong said investigators also discovered that Rogers deleted numerous text messages she had sent the evening of the alleged attack, and that she bought cotton gloves, a box cutter and zip ties from an Ace Hardware Store in Lincoln on July 17. All of the items were later found in her house, he said.

She also sent a photo of a cross-shaped cut on her chest to a friend a few days before the reported attack, Peschong said.

Investigators say they found no apparent sign of a struggle in the living room where Rogers said she was attacked, and no blood on the sheets where the cutting allegedly took place. An FBI forensic pathologist concluded that Rogers either cut herself, or allowed someone else to do it.

Peschong said the department spent thousands of dollars investigating the case, but he stressed that the case will not undermine the department’s trust in people who report hate crimes.

“The FBI, the Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Lincoln Police Department have spent an exorbitant amount of time and personnel resources investigating this,” he said. “We aggressively investigated this. Every day since this incident has happened, there have been investigators working on trying to identify who these assailants were.”

I’m sorry, because even if the attack were true that doesn’t change my view of homosexuality one iota.

I think they should remain in the closet, which points up a salient fact: Homosexuals wouldn’t have to worry about attacks if they kept their perverted behavior quiet.

Being attacked doesn’t change their perversions into something acceptable. But they wouldn’t understand that, because they’re mentally disturbed to begin with and suffer deep-seated mental and emotional problems, both of which disallow them the ability to think in coherent terms.

Opposition to them comes from, deeply ingrained feelings of homosexuality inbred in every human at birth.

That will never change, no more than the instinct for survival will change.

I think gays should get mental health treatment. the recent large Swedish studies of all twins in Sweden concluded that genetics could only account for 40%. I have hard time believing that it is genetic. Even if it is genetic in some cases that only accounts for a fraction of those that are gay. But at this point in the gay movement they feel they have to prove nothing they just want to transform society. They want to ask kindergartners if they are gay! And keep questioning them until they utter the correct answer. That is literally the curriculum they are trying to push in Toronto for the 2nd year in a row!

I would like to point out that the gay activists are becoming a daily drain on what we once knew as a morally concientious country. I see as an example an entire programing venue now consistently infiltrated with truly obnoxious gays, that are “in your face corrupters”. After Foxing myself out, for reprieve time, I have found Food Network, particularly cooking competitions relaxing. I also have a 12 year old granddaughter that is limited to TV watching, is trying to learn to cook, probably her parents would beilieve this a benign viewing option. Last week, Bobby Flay’s new show where he tries to save deserving inexperienced restauranteurs (bakeries, whatever) had a tough, nasty activist “type”, kind of made me sick at the onset, it quickly went to H3 ll, she referred to herself as a dude, and suddenly began uttering the “f- word” repeatedly, was completely abusive to some person who had financed her business. I wanted to send a letter to Bobby ????ing why he would choose to be a part of such a immoral fiasco, how he could tolerate such a piece of work that has no respect for anyone. Then, within a three week period, there were at least six shows where the contestants stated their out and ho so proud sexuality. Really, where does this fit in at all? I thought about writing Food Network, express my concerns, my lack of appreciation, my full intention of never watching another show produced by this group of uncouth, sleazy, agenda driven, I D I O Ts.

If Food Network cooking shows are entirely infiltrated with a out and proud gay agenda programing venues, I will not spend another moment watching their shows. I am completely incensed when I know there are young viewers, kids learning to cook who have permission to watch such cooking competitions because their parents thought this to be a safe, moral venue. I imagine many here may know to what I am referring. Shame on Bobby Flay (where is your decency, you say you have a 16 year old daughter, great guidance from you?) for participating with a disgusitng female (ugly and mean), self acclaimed, “DUDE” who suddenly spewed the “f-word about twenty times, was completely abusive to another person on her show. Is this what our lives are coming to. We all know the sitcom content is gay driven, full on nudity even in prime time, went up over 25% last year, according to Laura Ingraham, filling in for O’Reilly. Everyone is for the most part apathetic, OH well, hands tied. WAKE UP we must take back our country, these are angry, nasty people, the same ones who hated Chick-Fil-A for their beliefs, which we thought we were allowed to have in our supposedly free country. This is just like PETA, the organization that cares about animals so much that it stages the killing of animals by its own members and then claims that these were undercover videos showing how murderous the industry is. Lies.

So, women are evil, fanatical and mentally ill bigots since a handful of them pretend the crime of rape was committed upon them?

      @BryanB

You hit the nail on the head. The issue is not whether she likes women or men. It is a soul that is reaching out for attention in a manner that endangers herself and most likely others. This is a job for her family. If she does not have a family that is uninvolved, then it is an issue for the mental health professionals.

      She needs help.

Miss the days of ” don’t ask; don’t tell” and the days when one’s sexual orientation was quietly considered private and closeted. Way too much information out there today. Way too much emphasis on ” Look at me. I’m different. Look at me some more.“ Just another shot of ” change ” across the bow of what used to be considered normal, traditional American values. One of those old, traditional values was privacy .

Hmm, I don’t know about “missing those days”. I hope you folks don’t believe that most people think ****-behavior normal. Quite the contrary – I find that most people DO stand by the fact that it is abnormal behavior; I find out by talking openly about it. Too bad for those that have been dissuaded or poorly educated or absent a moderate degree of common sense.

She should be tried in court for falsely reporting a crime and should be forced to under go a psychic evaluation.

This is not just “some poor woman” with a mental illness she is a committed radical.

When she shoots someone, people will ask why she was allowed to buy a gun. Oh because we were too PC to convict her or give her a mental evaluation. Kind of like Fort Hood.

Charge her with a hate crime! If leaving bacon by Muslims is a hate crime faking a hate crime by carving a cross on your body to incite hatred against Christians most certainly is also! This crap has got to end, we need to make an example of her and charge her with absolute fullest extent of the law. Blatant false accusations should have the same punishment as the the crime that they are claiming.

Agreed! Unfortunately she is only charged with a misdemeanor of false reporting. She was arrested, pled not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. There should be a punishment pursued for her action and it should be to the max. To injure oneself to such an extent for political reasons is a deception that is twisted. She plays with our hearts to promote the gay agenda to such an extent that public’s sympathy gets hardened to others who actually may need it. Public asks now, “How do we know you just didn’t do this to yourself to get public sympathy and support?” This gives some people reasons not to help others. It’s an example of that violation of public trust which is quite dark in nature and reminds me of mans true heart condition told to us in, Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?”

What she needs to really do is sincerely repent of her actions and ask the officials and the public for forgiveness. Meanwhile, carry out the punishment to full extent of the law. I don’t like the hate crime additions to our laws, just simply punish her for her actions, i.e., deception of authority and violating public trust.

Perjury is suppose to carry a punishment equal to that which was going to be incurred by the defendant. As far as this case went I don’t think there were any individuals actual victims of her wrath so I can agree with restitution to officials and she should publicly repent.

She has sorely hurt her gay causes rather that helped them, fine by me.

Hasn’t CSI (I know Law and Order has) already run the story where the evil Christian kidnaps the noble gay person? They practically wrote this script with their self-righteous anti-Christian rhetoric.

Projection seems to be part of the liberal disease – they have evil thoughts, project them onto good people and then if good people don’t do it, they act it out on TV or in real life.

Have you spit on a black person today? No I didn’t think so, but we just saw the liberal spit on a lady, on camera.

I remember when this case was first reported a number of Blazers commented that her story was false, that she had done this to herself. Very astute people.

What if a person had been arrested and charged with hurting her based on her claims, perhaps sent to prison.
This woman needs tried in court on as many charges as are legal and if found guilty she needs HARD jail time. She should also have to repay the cost of the investigation.
