Police Won‘t Investigate Dutch Hosts’ Alleged Cannibalism on Live TV

AMSTERDAM (The Blaze/AP) — Dutch prosecutors are not investigating a case of apparent cannibalism on a Dutch TV show in which presenters appeared to consume tiny pieces of each others’ flesh that had been surgically removed.

Amsterdam prosecution spokeswoman Yvonne van der Leede said Thursday no investigation is under way. Thijs Verheij, spokesman for broadcaster BNN, said doctors and others involved in the stunt may have broken laws but police probably have more important things to do. BNN has insisted the case is not a hoax.

The Atlantic notes that cannibalism in the Netherlands isn’t blatantly illegal:

Strangely enough, cannibalism is only illegal in the Netherlands when “it involves maltreatment or when it violates common decency,” which means some people in the legal profession have spent a lot of time thinking about this in the past. Zeno described his piece of meat to be like eating a car tire.

Dutch Hosts Wont Face Investigation for Cannibalism

The show “Guinea Pigs” aired Wednesday and showed footage of what appeared to be the removal of tissue from a buttock of one presenter and the waist of another. In front of a studio audience, the pair described cooked fatty tissue as rubbery and disgusting, and muscle as indistinguishable from other meat.

    How do all the Libertarians feel about this. There all consenting adults, there in a country that has chased GOD out, it’s there right to do what ever they please, there free spirits, probably smoked a little doobie before the show. This is us in about 10 years from now and they will be doing the same thing on shows like the Fear Factor.

      Second off, I agree, they are consenting adults and eating human flesh is not illegal.

      Additionally, cannibalism is not a sin – nowhere in the bible is any commandment made against the consumption of human flesh.

      So I fail to see your “chased GOD out” argument

      Cannibalism is mentioned several times in Scripture, Lev 26, Deut. 28, 2 Kings 6, and several other locations. It‘s an unspoken law that you don’t eat your own flesh for the simple commonsense fact that we are NOT to defile the Temple of God. We are also created in the image of God and our body contains the Holy Spirit.

      God mentions that His people will be eaten by His enemies if His people turn away from Him. It’s the ultimate in degradation and desperation.

      It’s mentioned that when people reject God they will become so desperate that even mothers would eat their own children. Desperate people will resort to most base of instincts.

      There are 613 explicit commandments, none of which make any reference to cannibalism.

      You can try and dig to find implicit meanings, but if it wasn‘t important enough to say EXPLICITLY then it isn’t a COMMANDMENT.

    It’s strange how this is just another news story to most people. We get previous story about “eat the rich” and other stories about how the world is marching towards food shortage. Don’t you see how we are being set up? During times of hunger though out history canabilism has occurred. How much worse do you think it will be when it becomes as socially acceptable as it is now?

      I think it is a sign of our current state of morals decay but if two bone-heads want to try to shamelessly self-promote by eating each other, oh well. I won’t be using /buying any product or service from them, nor will I let them teach my kids. People will do whatever they think they can get away with plus 1, that is mankind.       WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? These guy are beyond sick……Maybe someone should have reminded them that the rugby team in ALIVE had to eat the dead………They were curious about it as a matter of fact they tried as little as possible to think about when they did it.
