Politico: Rick Perry to Announce Presidential Plans This Saturday

Texas Gov. Rick Perry to Announce GOP Candidacy in South Carolina

Sources say that Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who set off somewhat of a firestorm for taking part in a massive prayer event this past weekend, will announce that he intends to become a 2012 Republican presidential candidate. According to Politico, Perry will make the announcement during a speech in South Carolina this Saturday:

According to two sources familiar with the plan, the Texas governor will remove any doubt about his White House intentions during his appearance at a RedState conference in Charleston.

It’s uncertain whether Saturday will mark a formal declaration, but Perry’s decision to disclose his intentions the same day as the Ames straw poll–and then hours later make his first trip to New Hampshire– will send shockwaves through the race and upend whatever results come out of the straw poll.

Almost immediately after his appearance, Perry’s schedule begins to reflect one of a individual seeking the White House. He will head to New Hampshire, then to Iowa. Later this week, the governor will discuss job creation and his economic record with small business association CEOs.

Perry’s announcement will send a shockwave through the GOP field due to his support among Evangelicals. This support could easily take fire away from both Congresswoman Michele Bachman and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. Politico continues:

The Texan would immediately be a formidable figure in the race, appealing to conservatives hungering for more options–particularly in states where the GOP base is heavily conservative, like Iowa and South Carolina, Perry would have an opportunity to unite both tea party activists and more traditional party regulars who want a mix of conservatism and electability.

Watch Perry deliver his controversial speech at The Response prayer rally this past weekend:

A little more than a year later, Perry snapped up 60 acres southwest of Austin, after acting on a tip from flamboyant developer Gary Bradley, whose real estate empire fell into bankruptcy in 2002. The property was sold two and a half years later at a $239,000 profit. Perry has also bought and sold houses and raw land for various gains since he won statewide office in 1990.

“He just manages to fall into these deals over the years,” said Houston accountant Bob Martin, who helped analyze 18 years‘ worth of Perry’s tax returns for the AP. “It looks like his net worth increased while he was in office, in the relative scheme of things, on a small salary.” Perry made about $85,000 a year as agriculture commissioner and currently draws $150,000 annually as governor, but as a legislator and lieutenant governor, he was making a part-time salary of just $7,200.

He also was entitled to daily expense payments during legislative sessions and later, as lieutenant governor in 1999 and 2000, Perry boosted his take-home pay by filling in for then-Gov. Bush, who was spending a lot of time outside Texas running for president.

Your peurile little episodes here proclaiming some kind of jewish conspiracy are testament to the all too familiar lefty, groupthink that you’re clearly immersed in. The fact that you’re choosing to smear Perry as some kind of “phony” christian (laughable in the light of the fact that Obama is clearly agnostic at best yet tries to minimize his muslim background and put his “christian faith” at the fore..even walking to church in the custom of the jews) backs up the assertion that David Plouffe and his allies‘ plan is to smear Obama’s opponents because Obama’s record stinks. The “logic” being that as bad as Obama is, his opponents are worse. Nice try champ but Moveon needs to hire better operatives than you.

Not too long ago, Rick Perry took a trip to Israel.

We decided that Christian goyim would probably be stupid enough to fall for Rick Perry pretending that he’s “into Jesus”, to detract the threat of Christian voters into a candidate we control. We do this every election based on reports we get from our well-paid think-tank research firms, then “sculpt” the election.

No one can become a candidate without media backing. This is the threat we made to JFK in 1958 to force him to accept LBJ as his running mate… just in case his decisions didn’t go our way (and they didn’t).

I don’t think his brand of RINO is bad like the others, but the country ain’t ready to take that plunge…yet. Ron Paul and other libertarians (and the butt-whippings from Democrats) have been a leading force to move the Republican Party back to their principles of limited government. Lisa, do you relize what your saying? Does it matter that he tried to take the land of Texan’s to build a road? What about the young girls he wanted to inject with Gardisil? What about good old fiscal conservative Rick being al gores campaign manager in Texas? OMG, wake up. Put the kool-aid down and back away. Some real conservative needs to step up. This man is not who you think he is.

Rick Perry, who entered the Texas legislature as a Democrat in 1984, served as Al Gore’s Texas Campaign Chairman in the 1988 presidential campaign. Soon after the campaign, Perry switched parties and was elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner as a Republican in 1990. “Going through that (Gore experience) was part of what started me through the process of changing parties in 1989,” Perry later said. “I came to my senses.”

As far as the injections Gardasil helps prevent Cervical Cancer and 70% of ******* cancer cases and up to 50% of vulvar cancer cases. (I do believe that people should be able to make a choice on this however).

As for the roads: “I’m proud to sign into law stronger eminent domain provisions protecting Texas landowners from local and state government entities that might consider abusing private property rights,” Gov. Perry said. “We’ve come a long way in the effort to strengthen private property rights through this legislation, and thanks to the hard work of state lawmakers, particularly Sen. Estes, Sen. Duncan and Rep. Geren, the dream of property ownership is more secure in the State of Texas now than ever before.”

      “The Trans-Texas Corridor is dead.”
Rick Perry on Thursday, January 14th, 2010 in a campaign blog entry during the GOP gubernatorial debate

Just so you know I do not drink any kool-aid. I am not blindly for republicans or democrats I am a registered independent! You should check facts before posting!

This is absolutely wonderful news! Perry is a proven leader with common sense, high morals, intelligence and mounds of experience. Believe he is the only one that can cause barry boy to put in a change of address in November 2012! Is he perfect – no because that is not possible but he is everything this country needs if we are to have any REAL HOPE at all of getting our beloved country back.

REPUBLICORP: again, do some research. He had no problem getting bin laden, he is against conducting military operations against other countries like that when they dont want us there. just as if we would not allow china to conduct military operations on american soil to get someone they were looking for. he is the only person pointing out how flawed our foreign policy is

If you like John McCain (RINO) you will really love Rick Perry.
      Campaigned for Al Gore.
Moved from Democrat party ot Republican.
We know him, he is our Gov. We do not want him in the White House.
He won’t rock the boat with the Dems.
He won’t get the Fed out of our pockets.
He won’t get rid of the IRS.
He will increase the debt and tax hard working citizens.
And on and on…Vote for the RINO Rick Perry

Rick has never been a business owner, nor worked for anyone but his dad.

He did join the Air Force when he was young.

      And he went to college.
