‘Politwoops’: Here‘s Where You Can Find Politician’s Deleted Tweets

There are many reasons why one might wish to delete a Facebook post or a tweet, such as misspelled words, missing hashtags or lapse in judgement. Thankfully, they are deletable, but only to an extent. Somewhere in cyberspace those Facebook posts and tweets still exist.

A website called Politwoops has made it its mission to pick up specifically on the deleted tweets of politicians. Launched by the Sunlight Foundation, this “only comprehensive collection of deleted tweets by U.S. politicians“ is intended to present a ”rough draft of how politicians and campaigns hone their social media messaging and amend their record.”

According to the foundation’s website, Politwoops follows major politicians, recording the tweets they delete and how much time passed before they deleted it. Within six months, the site had elapsed more than 3,000 deleted tweets, which NPR notes mostly seem to have been taken down for reasons like broken links.

Here are some recent deleted tweets from the site — figure out or formulate your own conclusions as to why they were deleted:

I‘d make a flood of perfectly fine post and then I’d delete them. Have fun scrolling!

How does someone get info like this? Do they pay Twitter for this? Ahh yes. Twitter and FB make their money from you. Your information being sold. Suckers!

Unfotunately, we have no context for some of those. It would be interesting to read some of our more “astute” politicians like Harry, Nancy, and Sheila. SJL would be SNL material if she was not a minority.

You can’t blame Keith Ellison for the “test” tweet. Most Muslims aren’t even used to indoor plumbing and this guy is on the interwebs.
