Barack Obama has seemingly succeeded in changing (or “fundamentally transforming,” to use his words) the United States of America, but according to a poll released Monday by The Hill, a majority of Americans are not pleased with the result.

The Hill has more information:

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

Conducted for The Hill by Pulse Opinion Research, the poll comes in the wake of last month’s Supreme Court decision that upheld the primary elements of Obama’s signature healthcare legislation.

It found 68 percent of likely voters — regardless of whether they approve or disapprove of Obama — believe the president has substantially transformed the country since his 2009 inauguration.

While it is not altogether surprising that 91% of self-identified Republicans believe the president has taken us down the wrong path, a shocking 1-in-5 Democrats also agreed with the assessment.

When asked about the presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney, only 50% thought Mitt Romney would bring “significant” change to the country, though the wording is ambiguous as to whether people want to change back from Obama’s reforms, or continue along with the “fundamental transformation.”

“Regardless of whether you approve or disapprove of him, would Mitt Romney significantly change America?” likely voters were asked.

However, an overwhelming majority — 89 percent — saw the choice between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama as being “important” for the future of the country.

Similarly, almost half of the people interviewed (47%), said that they were paying more attention to the current election than they did in 2008.

Conducted on July 5 among 1,000 likely voters, the poll reportedly has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

Though the health care ruling was likely at the forefront of everyone’s minds at the time, the administration has implemented significant changes over the past few years.  A few from just the past several months include Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage, psued0-immigration reform, and a realization that 8.2% unemployment may not be going away anytime soon.

    Strangely, WND.com seemed shocked at the expected, disgusting reactions of homosexuals to actor Brad Pitt’s mother’s recent letter to the editor of her local newspaper criticizing Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama and endorsing the candidacy of Republican Mitt Romney for the presidency.

    Those reactions have served gays’ purposes of intimidating an elderly woman into fearful silence for daring to exercise her constitutional right to free speech at the same time they reflect the depth of the depravity of the homosexual community. They should, but probably won’t, wake up normal Americans as to how far gays will go to accomplish their ultimate goal of destroying what’s left of our moral values.

    They included: the New York Daily News contending, “Brad Pitt’s mom unleashes anti-gay, anti-Obama fury,” a “She Knows Entertainment” report that Mrs. Pitt “hates Obama, ‘gay’ people,” and vile Twitter comments such as, “Brad Pitt’s mom, die” (by Sandy Kownacka), “Brad Pitt’s mom wrote an anti-gay pro-Romney editorial. Kill the b—” (by I Bleed Gaga), “F— you, brad pitt’s mom, the gay community made your kid a star, you whacko,” “Brad Pitt’s mom is a dumb c—,” and many suggesting Mrs. Pitt ”commit vulgar sexual acts with the commenter.”

      Witness the exodus of the well healed people from this country, this trend is growing rapidly. Since the USA has declared war on people of means, regardless of how they got it, you will see them just leave the country unless there totally brain dead. It would seem to me that to allow the ghetto dwellers to infiltrate the country with impunity from all over the world and run off all the people of means, what your building is a giant ghetto. Nationwide Detroit’s for everyone, this is a socialist utopia and this is where Obama and his socialist friends are taking us. Keep doing what your doing and that’s where your kids will live.

      I just heard a good one a few minutes ago.O was being interviewed and was asked about Romney’s tax records. O said he thought Rom should release all his tax records like all presidents have back to Rom’s fathers time . Then he said (ready ) That any one RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OWES THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM ,LIKE AN OPEN BOOK !!! Can you believe the audacious audacity of this man saying such a thing !

    here is a reason why Gordon Gekko from the movie Wall Street …i mean Mitt Romney is TRAILING the President in the battle ground states; The analogy i would use when people say anyone can beat Obama !! Its like if you were stranded in the DESERT and THIRSTY where you would say “ I would DRINK anything im so thirsty ” ..then you arrive at a TOILET with something looking like water, Then your reaction is my URINE i was drinking all along still looks BETTER than that ,, That’s the Romney problem.

      Yes, by the sheer weight, 120 million. Only thing is, consider the demographic you speak of:

      1. is a welfare bum going to take up arms and try defending their government lifeline? Some may, most won’t. Fighting is hard work, and these buggers aren’t much inclined to work hard at anything.

      2. A large demographic of these idiots are trained in the ‘gangster’ and ‘thug life’ ways of fighting, meaning their effective combat range is ten feet. You‘d have to be terribly unlucky to be hit by one of these pukes at what a Conservative considers a ’short’ combat range, and you have a near-90% chance of never being seen or heard at our ‘long’ ranges.

      3. The real hardcore / proper fighters in their rank are few and far between, whereas we have the lion’s share of retired military. It would be a hopelessly one-sided engagement for any of they who have two functional brain cells, and there is a good chance they would realize it once the battle lines are drawn up.

      3 leads to: 4. Remember that Code Pink and most similar groups are cowardice personified. At the threat of real engagement, from real die-hard Americans, I do not see them holding any manner of resolve for long; they value their lives over all else, and are not likely to stand to the end knowing they will be engaged heavily.

      By my estimate, of the 120 million you quote, I estimate a maximum of 5 million willing and capable of fighting.

      The good news is that 49% of households are getting government relief. That means only 70% of the so-called slackers feel they are better off. Ya’ need to factor in the gays that are happy, the trespassers and the gov‘t workers so it isn’t all THAT bleak. I saw some level of sensibility in there…as an optimist.

      People are not thinking straight or the MSM has the middle brainwashed. The editor of Newsweek did say the press was worth 15 percentage points for John Kerry in 2004. It is probably the same now

      It is the only explanation that I have. that & people think they can get free stuff (kind of like a perpetual motion machines or slavery).
