Poll: Many Obama 2008 Supporters Are Defecting to GOP

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s winning coalition from 2008 has crumbled and his core backers are dispirited. It‘s now Republicans who stand to benefit from an electorate that’s again craving change.

Nearly two years after putting Obama in the White House, one-quarter of those who voted for the Democrat are defecting to the GOP or considering voting against the party in power this fall. An Associated Press-Knowledge Networks poll released two weeks before Obama’s first midterm elections found that just half of them say they definitely will show up Nov. 2.

In a reflection of broad dissatisfaction with politics, just as many people who backed Republican presidential nominee John McCain are either supporting Democrats now or still considering how to vote. McCain voters are far more motivated to vote, however.

In this thread I sense a lot of relief , satisfaction , and as well contempt.

Yes , a mere 16 days from now the tite will shift back towards the center. But it is not by far any means to the end , yet just the begining.

If we would have been this active , and aware , for the better part of our lives , we would not be in this situation today.

So I suggest we all look much further to the future , much much further , not that many are not , I just don’t think we should breath any sigh of relief just yet.

Rick, you are right. Now that the progressives (socialist) have exposed there agenda there monopoly of power will be over this election cycle. If you think this is a big fail for progressives it is not! They were very successful in shifting America one more notch left away from from the constitution.

Those of us out there who fear a post election democrat suicide pact, do not be worried. Yes the possibility of that happening is high. If they do it it will assure a conservative victory 2012 and a conservative super-majority. I beleive the Dems know this. We have them in check let them make there move.

We can’t fall asleep at the wheel. After this election we look to the next election, and then the next. Do not let them scury into the shadows only to rear there ugly heads 10, 20, 50 years from now! More importantly, be more engaged in local and state polotics. This is where progressives go and hide to lick there wounds, and this is where they can do the most damage. What is the point if we rout socialism from the fed gov only to have 50 little social republics.

Like termites they infest our school systems and public infrastructure. We must stop this. They try to re-wright our history, this can not be allowed. Pay careful attention to what our schools are teaching our children (history and science). Expose every lie and deletion. Systematicly remove rotten buerocrats and teachers. If we do not do this, in 1 or 2 generations The United States population will be ignorant and compliant.

Progressives are about Freedom from, America is about Freedom of!

I also am happy to welcome the former supporters of the “Sellected One” and I do believe that the damage done by him and his ilk can and will be reversed. But PLEASE … dont just replace one SOB with a “D” after his name with a SOB that has an “R” after their name!
We have made and are making GREAT strides towards reviving our beloved country, but must be vigilant and insist that the ones WE elect will not fall into the same pit that many are in now. WE MUST HOLD THEIR FEET TO THE FIRE!!! No matter who they are, and no matter what party they represent.
There is a price to be paid for the last 25 years or so of laxity in the goverinig of this land and I feel some trials are yet to come… BUT, we are AMERICANS and have overcome much in the past and will pull this out! Keep up the pressure and keep up the good fight! We will return to greatness again,God willing!!!

BTW, for the most part John McCain and politicos like him on the right have not been much help over the years.
He and others are why Americans are now more skeptical than they were thirty years ago of big government, high taxes, entitlements, judicial activism and secularism. In these areas, conservatives have proven most successful but there are a lot of Liberal Wolves on the right in Conservative Sheep’s Clothing.
Outside martial matters, McCain sides with the American Left on most key issues. The greatest irony of McCain’s masquerade is that he packages himself as a principled conservative, one with character, who rises above partisan politics. In reality, however, he is as disingenuous as the Clintons and presently bends whichever the way the wind blows to bolster himself for this upcoming eectin cycle.
Analyze him issue by issue, and see what you get.

What many people are overlooking is that the tea party is not all Rep. there are a lot of Dem. in the ranks. The tea party needs to sponsor candidates in districts that are consider safe for Dem. People are looking for change but not necessarily Rep. Americans regardless of party that have the interests of the country at heart need to be elected. A third party is needed now

We do not need a 3rd party. The progressives have been working to this point in time in the US since 1912.
TEA Party groups need to think and act long term. Locally we must wrest control of the school boards and in a generation the universities will take care of themselves. We must gain control of the local Republican Party Committees from the “professionals” who are only interested in power rather than principal to insert constitution conservatives. Term limits either legislated (not likely) or self imposed will keep a steady stream of concerned citizens engaged in the process.

All the evidence was available to those that looked past the slick, teleprompted speeches. This boy is unfit to serve as CiC/POTUS. The Incompetent One has NO experience to draw from that would allow anyone with a modicum of intelligence to admit that he was “ready to lead”. It’s no wonder that the MSM continues to defend and protect The Incompetent One from heightened scrutiny…their own credibility, (or lack thereof) is at stake. I predicted in March 2009 that the GOP would take back the House…LONG before the pundits predicted the same. The level of corruption, deceit and shear incompetence is staggering…but only to those that didn’t research the subject prior to Nov. 2008. Those that are too lazy to contribute and the Unions got what they wanted…a redistributive President…a socialist.

One thing you won’t hear/read about the Tea Party on TV or radio is that THE main effect of this movement is dragging the center of the political curve back towards the right in an abrupt manner. While for the last several decades, the center has been drifting towards the left, the Tea Party in less than two years has shifted it back towards the right, leaving liberal dems and RINO’s wallowing in the wake. It will take MULTIPLE election cycles to clean out the riff-raff in Washington, and while we can’t expect to have perfect candidates appear in every State/district to oppose liberal agendas, the overall effect of the TP simply HAS to continue for the next decade in order to ‘right the ship’.

      Dr Hunt.

I am with you. Before the 2008 election I was posting in as many newspaper web sites in swing states as I could find urging to people to look at Obama’s record on tax hikes, especially corporate and capital gains. I told them he would be a disaster for our economy, that he was untested and his only record was of voting “present”

No one listened to me then. I was floored when he was elected – sickened. I could not understand why so many people thought he was so intelligent – he had not proven a single thing to me, and still hasn’t. He has been the progressive’s puppet, and I don’t think most people even knew what a progressive was in 2008. Now we all know, and we don’t like it.

right next to where you log out it says “user profile” click that.
then scroll down to the the end of the page it will have a browse button – click that.
the browse button will open a window in which you can then browse through pics you have saved on your computer
after you’ve found the picture click on that picture and hit the either insert/open button
it’s now listed next to your browse button, so go down a little and there is a button that says “update profile” click it
the page will load again – then scroll down again and you should see a little picture on the right side of the page – that’s what it will look like when you go back to stories

nothing else needs to be done so scroll up and click stories…

give it awhile to load your photo…:))))) hope I helped you some. Confusing I know.

This is a re-post until after the election:
I received this in an email and thought it was worth posting as a reminder of what and when things happened….. please cut and paste if you agree

    Remember January 3, 2007

…… I don‘t understand WHY the people running for office don’t say this in their ads!!!

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009 it was actually January 3, 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress.

The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:

January 3, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
    At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

    The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

    Remember the day.

January 3, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

    BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Thank Congress for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment to this CRISIS by dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiasco’s!

(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001, because it was financially risky for the U.S. economy, but no one was listening).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA.

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie??? OBAMA and the Democratic Congress.

So when someone tries to blame Bush…
REMEMBER JANUARY 3, 2007…. THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!”

Bush may have been in the car, but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving. Set the record straight on Bush!

So, as you listen to all the commercials and media from the Democrats who are now distancing themselves from their voting record and their party, remember how they didn‘t listen to you when you said you didn’t want all the bailouts, you didn’t want the health care bill, you didn’t want cap and trade, you didn‘t want them to continue spending money we don’t have.

I’m not forgetting their complicity in getting us into this mess, and I’ll be marking my vote accordingly!

It won’t matter what the Police nor Military do, they will out numbered 1000 to 1. These Governement Organs of Oppression will become nothing more than a Historical Footnote very rapidly.

The Government does not have the manpower nor the resources to “Lock Down” and “Control” even a couple of the major cities in this country, much less all the rest of the Open Country that makes up 95% of it. Preparations for the resistance have been under way for 25 years now while all the Politicos have been deluding themselves that they actually “Control” everything.

We made a mistake America, now lets rectify our mistake at the polls Nov 2nd. Everybody thinks Republicans is the answer,,No Republicans is half the problem! We need independants to side with the conservative side, we need to fire a lot of Republicans too. We call them RINO’S Go TEA Party!

It’s about the individual candidate. Do your homework on them, pay attention to what they have done in the past. Repub, Dem, Tea, independent…..Doesn’t matter. Pay attention to the content of character and elect those who recognize what the position is and wish to use the power for good things, not the betterment of themselves.

I never count my chickens before they hatch (and I really do own some chickens) so I don’t want to start the “I told you so” chant just yet. I’m going to wait until after November 2nd to see if all these polls were close to being right. And if everything turns out as I hope they do, then I’m going to be everywhere saying… “I TOLD YOU SO!”

      @ Patriot Dave –

      Regarding counting chickens…..

Did you happen to notice that the POTUS press secretary announced that the Dems might retain control of the House, which is a 180 from his earlier statement that the Repubs might gain control?

Methinks the earlier statement was taken as aiding and abetting the enemy and the more recent one an attempt to remain employed.

However, like you, I don’t like counting chicken before they hatch, either. But there does seem to be some kind of dust up going on in the hen house.

Surely you’ve heard the phrase”hindsight is 20/20. How about lightening up on the remorseful O voters and applaud them for seeing they were hoodwinked. The obama on the 2008 campaign trail was a master deceiver, great orator,uh uh ,make that teleprompter reader. He bamboozled alot of people, selling his pragmatic character and centrist platform. Many of us researched him and tried to get others to see the community organizing, progressive anti-constitutional chamellion like lawyer for what he really was. And don’t forget acorn and other rock-the-vote activist were able to rally their base, raise the dead, register almost all of hanna-barbaras crew and disney too!!We need to welcome any and all who have awakened..It’s not too late ,but kindly leave the blame game to the left. We are better then that..

Surprise. Surprise. Maybe they saw all of the signs at the 10-2 rally declaring that the democratic party is the party of socialism. They aren’t even denying or trying to hide it anymore. People ARE waking up and all I can say is “IT’S ABOUT TIME”.

All they had to do is come out and say it, they’re socialist. Now everyone in the country who wasn’t paying attention to thier actions and only thier words is on to them too.

President Obama and the Progressives shocked by the people defecting in droves? Oh my!

Mr Obama get real, the country did elect you as President and now we see what a mistake that has been, which thankfully we in this great country of ours can correct in part on Nov 2nd, and finally in 2012 when you no longer are in office (I pray.)

The one danger I see is that the Congress may declare a form of suicide pact upon losing the elections and before their replacements assume the new positions. They may declare legislation to cram everything down the throat of Americas people to destroy the country, or even make a move to stage a political coup against Obama and declare a “National Emergency”

As part of the Administration says, never waste any emergency…and currently with the housing mortgage fiasco, they may do so.

The justice department is suddenly investigating two states (maybe more) for lack of ballots sent to our overseas troops – what will happen if suddenly the elections are declared to be Null and Void in enough areas the President declares a type of crisis is at hand and shuts everything, including the radio, tv, and internet down?

Obama was correct: The stars are aligning.

But his view is from such a concocted angle though; he miscalculated the actual timing of the event, the sweeping magnitude of the alignment. He doesn’t even see what’s about to rain down on him . . . the mood of the nation, the awareness; the observations; memories; feelings . . .

And then that alignment: Aside from the era of the founding, the time has never been better for the Republican Party, Conservatism and Tea Party ideologies to re-coalesce into a bond, a mission that steers itself clear of all that has kept it apart and separated and vulnerable to the ills of liberalism, since the founding.

. . . . But there are choices to be made and a lot of politics to be played by unordinary men and women. We have on our side though, and for the first time in over two hundred years, a formidable steering party that appears to have the teeth and the desire to use them, to hunt down and to cast out all that seeks to destroy her . . . And they realize; they have become a national sport in the “arena of ideas” (rl), and that we are watching . . . except on football Sundays.

Hornswaggled bandwagon hoppers are jumping off the wagon faster than people running from a burning building. If 25% admit it, the actual number has to be larger. Admitting that you were duped is one of the most difficult things for an uneducated voter to admit publicly.

Talking to those I know mostly Loyal Democrats 2/3 of them are NOT voting for ANY Democrat in Nov.. and they WILL vote.. Now I know Republicans who DIDN’T vote for McCain nor OBAMA (voted 3rd party because they DIDN’T like McCain) who will be sure to vote in Nov.. Republican.. I am amazed that so many time the Polls make it sound like the Republicans LIKED McCain truth is that isn’t so.. had the REPUBLICAN ran a decent candidate Obama most likely WOULDN’T be president.. Many independents voted for Obama mostly because they couldn’t vote for McCain because of his past policies.. This election there are MANY new faces and people LIKE that they are tired of CAREER politicians..
