Pollster Frank Luntz Caught Ripping Perry, Bachmann: She Blinked for ‘First Time Last Week’

Frank Luntz is well known in conservative circles. As a pollster, he regularly analyzes data and critiques messaging. Some might wonder, then, how the recent message he was caught delivering to a group of bystanders might be perceived, especially since that message included jokes about Rick Perry‘s intelligence and Michele Bachmann’s eyes.
In a video linked on the popular conservative site Hot Air, Luntz can be seen and heard addressing a group gathered around him in what looks like a building lobby. The video begins with his jokes before he launches into some advice:
It’s like Michele Bachmann, remember her? [Audience laughs] Did you ever see the movie “Fatal Attraction?“ She reminds me of Glen Close in ”Fatal Attraction.” [Laughter] She actually blinked for the first time last week. [Laughter] Rick Perry is George Bush, without the intellect. [Laughter]
But almost immediately after cracking the Perry joke, Luntz seemed to know it might not go over well with everyone. “This is why I get into so much trouble,” he said:
It’s unclear when the remarks were made, but the video is dated January 9 and was uploaded by someone going by the YouTube name ScottHennen. In the video, the man identifies himself as a talk radio host. Scott Hennen is a conservative radio host from the Midwest.
Either way, the comments are curious considering Luntz did point out that he was being filmed, and eventually asked the man taking the above video to leave. But not before noting that, in politics, you have to be so careful about what you say.
“Everything you say can and will be used against you.”
He did, however, say he was “just messing around” regarding his comments.
“Just for the record,” he said with his hands cupped around his mouth, “I am messing around with you all.”

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 2:15pmFrank Luntz and Sean Hannity are both corporate shills acting like conservatives. If you haven’t drunk the “go team” Republican kool-aid, it is obvious. They are all about reducing the size of the government, except the parts of the government they like. Those parts should be increased. Luntz has his hand picked team of partisans give their views of the debates as a way of skewing public opinion. Why does the MSM feel a need to selectively tell you what they politicians said right after they said it, as if you didn’t just hear it for yourself? It is a way of applying emphasis on what they want you to take away from what was just said. Luntz in particular is a scheming putz that should crawl back under the rock that spit him out. Listen closely to what he says, and more importantly, what he doesn’t say, and you will understand what a sleazeball he is.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 12:08pmExactly! First off, the whole beginning part of the conversation was edited out. Frank could have been stating, “I have heard a lot of negative things about candidates on the rode. I heard every joke, like…” Then he went on listing them.
The “Radio Host” filming is outright looking to show any sign of negativity to increase his own relevancy for ratings. Maybe he should show the whole clip, or did he simply start recording at the “good parts”. The fact that Frank starts talking about the political attacks shortly after making the “jokes” is a sign that the conversation was about things being said from campaigns, supporters, and probably opponents from the other side of the aisle. The fact that he points out the cameras is also a sign that he is making a point about the issue with making statements like these.
My advise is that we need to stop being overly sensitive to statements and jokes. We need to form opinions on facts and full stories. The mindless comments on the Blaze only bolster the need to become self informed (note this is not an attack to you Kingruddy).

Third, you say “it is not okay to openly spout hate speech and pass judgement on others .” But you never say that to your conservative buddies who do exactly that. So you see this is not a stance on principle on your part, it is a prejudice.
Fourth, you seem to think I’m interested in earning “the right of the respect of the community” I think I know what that means, even if you don’t. Either way, rest assured I don’t care about the respect of this community.
Fifth, you say, I “have never shown one ounce of honesty, integrity or respect” Not true, I have shown tremendous integrity and honesty. I admit I don’t respect most of you. You haven’t earned the right to the respect of me.

He’s a terrible debater. Oops, I mean he’s a heartless, horrible stupid and foolish debater. Did I say he was stupid?
Think again.
There have been some strong accusations against Rick Perry concerning his debating skills. I suppose, they’re with merit. Unfortunately for those merits, they’re easily and plausibly argued away with a few facts.
On Debating in General:
Perry never admitted it until recently, but, it’s long been suspected that Perry’s back surgery was the cause for his poor debate performances. In every single debate since, he’s excelled time and time again–he’s communicated his points with heart, making Mitt Romney look like a fool.
It is wrong to blame Rick Perry for his debate performances and not give him another chance

We’re all “Heartless.”
I could start this and end this with arguing the policy is good but, it’d be heartless to you to do that. The only solution for this result of fatigue is an apology and, as only some seemed to have realized, he’s apologized for it. This is an unfortunate mistake, and I think it is wrong of him to have said that. But, in the grand scheme of things, it means absolutely squat diddly. Yes, squat diddly. If you get to choose between a solid conservative who screwed up in a debate, a racist, a flip-flop or a progressive do you choose the guy that had a few slip ups or one of the three I just described? Well, I suppose that’s up to you.
Rick Perry isn’t acceptable by Fox News’ standards, how is he credible.
I’ve seen this question, presumably alluding to dealing with the media. As hot as Fox News’ women are, I’m not exactly sure they’re the biggest entity he has to deal with. Posted on January 10, 2012 at 12:05pmI don’t put much credence into that. I don’t think being quick on your feet is the sole barometer to intelligence. Do you want a President who definitively makes all of his decisions within 5-seconds of being posed a question? If not, why is this a requirement for becoming President?
I’m not saying that Rick Perry is a genius or a simpleton with great hair. My point is that you really can’t determine a persons intelligence by reaction time on camera and under pressure. Debating is difficult. Speaking in public, under pressure is difficult. For some, the panic and fear associated with public speaking never goes away, even after years of doing it.
My point is that the supposed ‘idiot’ moments of Perry look a lot like cases of nerves. I’m not a supporter of Perry, but I’d much rather have a nervous public speaker who was honest in his ideals than a slick marxist.
