Porn Publisher Larry Flynt Offers $1 Million for Proof of ‘Gay or Straight Sexual Encounter’ With Rick Perry

Texas Governor Rick Perry is quickly becoming the left’s prime electoral target. It seems some are viewing the governor as a viable political threat to President Barack Obama, as they employ bizarre tactics to try and derail his potential presidency.
As reported by Eddie Scarry on the Blaze blog, porn magazine publisher Larry Flynt is launching what could amount to a slanderous campaign of sorts against Perry. The porn magnate is offering $1 million to anyone who has proof of “an illicit sexual liaison” involving the man who holds the potential to capture the White House next year.
According to Reuters, Flynt, whose company Larry Flynt Productions publishes Hustler, has purchased full-page ads in The Onion and the Austin Chronicle seeking evidence of any potential Perry exploit. See the bizarre ad, which asks anyone who has had “a gay or straight sexual encounter with Governor Rick Perry,” to step forward, below:

This is oddly similar to the ad that a Texas man named Robert Morrow (a Ron Paul enthusiast) published in the Chronicle earlier this summer. Take a look at Morrow’s ad, which essentially asked readers to come forward with the same information, below:
Flynt, of course, has a history of railing against Republican candidates and politicians he disagrees with. Back in May, he slammed Sarah Palin and her son Trig, saying:
She did a disservice to every woman in America. She knew from the first month of pregnancy that kid was going to be Down’s Syndrome. It’s brain dead. A virtual vegetable. She carries it to all these different political events against abortion, she did it just because she didn‘t want to say she’d had an abortion. How long is it going to live? Another 12, 15 years?
Flynt, who will likely enrage many conservatives with his latest antics, claims that his company has had success getting people to come forward in the past. “I’ve been doing this for 35 years,” he proudly proclaimed in an interview with Reuters. “We’ve found running these ads were very successful in finding sources to come forward.” Reuters offers at least one example corroborating this claim:
In 1999, then-incoming U.S. House Speaker Robert Livingston resigned after Flynt claimed to have uncovered evidence of an extramarital affair by the Louisiana Republican.
Flynt had bought a full-page newspaper advertisement offering $1 million for evidence of sexual dalliances by congressional Republicans, who were seeking to impeach then-President Bill Clinton over allegations that he had lied under oath about an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
As we stated earlier this summer, this ad, like the one paid for by Morrow, is simply par for the course in today’s political discourse. The entire incident is oddly reminiscent of a 2010 article by Beau Friedlander that offered a $100,000 bounty for proof of a Glenn Beck sex tape. These bizarre political antics never seem to end.

He’ll vet those that come forward so only those with a very good lie, an insider with a plausible tale and no way to prove they’re not telling the truth, will make it to the media. But how can they have any credibility when they’re getting paid that amount of money?
The left will believe it because they want to. The liberal media will almost certainly cover it, despite the obvious conflicts of interest and credibility issues. The right won‘t believe it because they don’t want to. And the independents won’t know what to believe because this money will have muddied the waters.
I’m not usually one to push for new laws but paying people to come forward with dirt on anyone is not right and should not be tolerated.
How do you think liberals and the media would respond if the Koch brothers offered a million dollars for anyone with dirt on Obama?
