Post-CPAC, Romney Trounces Obama in NH Poll

We are now less than a year from the start of the 2012 Presidential Primary season and many, mostly on the Left, are wondering who will face off against President Obama. Predictable CPAC Straw Poll results aside, and barring a Donald Trump run, there does appear to be an early trend taking shape.
Last August a telephone survey showed Mitt Romney would beat President Obama and Mike Bloomberg in a three way contest for the 2012 election.
In a national poll conducted by Politicons Polling, it found that Republicans are closing in on Obama in the 2012 Presidential Election. Of the Republicans polled, Former MA. Gov. Mitt Romney was the only one to beat President Obama by 1%. Followed by Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Chris Christie, all trailing Obama by 6%.
Phoenix, AZ- In a national poll conducted by Politicons Polling, it found that Republicans are closing in on Obama in the 2012 Presidential Election. Of the Republicans polled, Former MA. Gov. Mitt Romney was the only one to beat President Obama by 1%. Followed by Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Chris Christie, all trailing Obama by 6%. We also included Congresswoman Michele Bachman, who is the most recent rumored Presidential Candidate. She trailed Obama by 9%. And of course last but not least, Sarah Palin. We found Palin trailing Obama by 13%. With only 9% undecided. This is a huge gap, and one that could cost her the election, if she decides to run.
This morning we read that in a state won by Barack Obama in 2008, Mitt Romney has again defeated the President, and this time by a larger margin. The survey conducted by University of New Hampshire Survey Center for WMUR-TV showed a potential electoral shift from 2008, depending on the GOP candidate.
Obama’s chances of winning New Hampshire depend, at this point, on his opponent. In a hypothetical race between Obama and Romney, Romney leads, 49 to 41 percent. Against Palin, Obama does much better, leading 57 to 34 percent. Against Pawlenty, Obama leads 44 to 37 percent.

(not meant as a slight to Sarah – she’s great) Christie, whoa – attacks the red ink head on, doesn’t get bullied. Trump – worldwide business savvy willing to rip Saudi’s and China a new one. Mitt, organizer, great work on the Olympics, good business skills (No on RomneyCare) Hermanator – commonsense, American values, ‘throw out the tax codes and start over” Newt – intelligent but time has passed Ron Paul, audit the Fed champion, told us in ‘08 we’re going broke, love his tenacity. Pawlenty – good governor, all around good man same for Mitch – he got’er done, good executive experience. Each champions of smaller government, lower taxes job creating track record, intelligent and good lookin. I don’t think “Greed is Good” signs will win the hearts and mind’s of voters on either side…….We have the same dilemma as always: Is winning with Romney better than losing with someone you like better? ….I hate that part of ‘reality’. But it’s early yet, maybe someone will step to the forefront. Although I like her personally and what she stands for, the formula is simple: Too many women who would normally like her as a candidate, will vote against her on the ONE ISSUE that trumps (no pun intended) all others >>>Abortion. If you estimate the population at 50/50 Dems and Reps, and 50/50 men and women, then do the math yourself you’ll see…. She’d lose by a landslide. By about what the polls suggest, roughly 62-38 %………… Not good enough.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 12:37pmRomney would sign Republican bills. If conservatives actually took over both houses and the rinos such as Lindsey Graham were voted out he would be okay I guess. The problem is he seems to think government can be improved to “solve problems.” You can take the boy out of Massachusetts but you can’t take Massachusetts out of the boy. We need someone who truly believes that less government is better government, that government needs to get out of the way and extract its hands from so deeply in the taxpayer’s pockets while doing it.

Why do we have a greater allegiance to political party than to the Constitution? Why are we so weak willed and pathetic that we will avoid our own sense of morality and vote for who we are told can win who is little more than the lesser of two evils? For those of you who fit this description, you deserve everything you’ve gotten so far and will continue to only fall further until truly we have lost a nation our forefathers bled for, died for, and conquered.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 12:17pmI live in lower Alabama and subscribe to the Mobile paper , which also contains a Baldwin County section where we live. Both papers contain a “Sound Off” section where one can call in and express their opinions on anything. Of course the sport section is constant bickering going on between Alabama and Auburn which gets very tiring. But the opinion “Sound off” section is another thing. I have tracked the political comments for two different periods of time. Several months. One can tell when the seminar callers call in and get printed. The printed comments in both the Mobile Press Register and the Baldwin Press register are always just about 3 to 1 in favor of progressives(dems if you prefer). Of course when I brought this to the attention of several high ups(?) at the papers I get fluffed off as would be expected. I am sure the screener(s) are not the highest paid people but this should not be happening.

1. I am a Christian who believes that the Bible is true and should not be added to or taken away from 2. I would vote for Romney in a hearteat if he were a conservative. He is not.
3. I would vote for an atheist if he shared my values like right to life, sanctity of marriage, small government, free markets, etc.
4. I am making a statement of political fact. 20% to 30% of Americans will not vote for a Mormon. It’s that simple and I gave a very pointed example of why. Besides, I just wanted to see if I could run this thread up to a 1000 comments.

Posted on February 16, 2011 at 10:43pmRe: Satan and Jesus as Spirit Brothers. Mormon Beliefs.
Let’s set the record straight.
We believe in a pre-existence in which there was a Council in Heaven of all the great ones including Jesus, Lucifer, Michael, and all of mankind, to arrange for the creation and peopling of the earth. The Father made formal announcement of his plan of redemption and salvation. It was then explained that his spirit children would go down to earth, gain bodies of flesh and blood, be tried and tested in all things and have opportunity by obedience to come back again to the Eternal Presence. It was then explained that one of the spirit children of the Father would be chosen to be the Redeemer and work out the infinite and eternal atonement. And it was then that the Father sent forth the call which said in substance and effect: ” Whom shall I send to be my Son in mortality? Who will go down, be born with life in himself, and work out the great atoning sacrifice by which immortality will come to all men and eternal life be assured to the obedient? ”
Two mighty spirits answered the call and volunteered their services. Christ said, in effect: ” Here am I, send me; I will be thy Son; I will follow thy plan; and “Thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.” It was Chrrst’s plan that man should have his “Free Agency” for God will force no man to Heaven, (You know, certain inalienable rights endowed by our Creator.)
But Lucifer sought to amend the plan of the Father and to change the proffered terms of salvation. “Behold, here am I, send me,” he said, “I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost (no freedom of choice), and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.” (Moses 4:1-4) When the Father said, “I will send the first,” then Lucifer was angry, kept not his first estate, rebelled* and he and one-third of the hosts of heaven were cast out down to earth to become the devil (Lucifer) and his angels. (Abra. 3:25-28)
*”And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven,
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelations 12: 7-9)
We believe that the U.S. Constitution was inspired of God to mighty men foreordained to establish it upon this free nation. Compare this plan of free agency with that Lucifer proposed–you know, Communism, Totalitarianism, Socialism, Nazism, etc.
I hope that will dispell any concern you have regarding Spirit Children of God.

I see it this way. Romney was a conservative that was elected to fix a dying non-conservative state economy. He succeeded in doing so extremely well. Remember, though, that he was elected to represent a state of mostly liberal-type people. His conservative spending and economic know-how saved the state from its deficit. Had he been elected in, say Utah (the most conservative state), he would be representing that type of people. That is to say, the MA healthcare would have been a no-go. He was making concessions at the will of those he represented. In summary, he did what was necessary to save a state‘s economy and he can do the same to save a country’s economy. Bottom line….NOBODY else in the current line-up is electable!

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 12:51pmRomney is the smartest candidate the GOP has right now. He saved Bain, built Bain Capital, saved the US Olympics from corruption and was a successful governor in a blue state. He knows more about business in a single finger nail than Gonzo has ever known. Do not write him off so quickly.
That said, the economy is going to be a lot better by November 2012 than it is now. The stock market will create a lot of weath over the course of the year. (By the way, where are all the conservatives that used to point to the stock market’s continued fall to blame Obama for everything?? Just wondering where those who are so selective with their evidence are hiding…) Unemployment will be falling by that point, although it will still not get to pre-crisis levels, but it will be directionally going in the right direction. So that means that Romney’s key asset, that he knows economics and business better than Obama will already by neutralized. And since the economy is the key factor that drives incumbent success, he will do well against any other strong candidate that the GOP fields. Barring some unforeseen foreign crisis, like the Iranian Hostage Crisis, that killed Carter, Obama will likely get a second term if the economy continues its slow mending process. Polls today do not capture future economic improvement, so they are not really useful in analyzing what things look like in 20 months.
My real question is how Romney or any other candidate who is electable by the majority of the country will ever get out of a GOP primary that seems to increasingly prefer lunatic candidates like Christine O’Donnell or ideological blow-hards like Rand Paul. Those people cannot win a general election contest in any but the most unlikely circumstances. That is a real problem for the GOP.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 1:46pmIt doesn’t matter what the party or non-party but it is an absolute that we will back our tea party people that are for our freedoms FROM the government as well as the enemies of this nation from without. As P C BE DAMNED said we will back our own and if they don’t win we will fight to the end. Live free or die from any tyrant or egomaniac or any other wacko that attempts to destroy us, our freedoms and our country.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 2:19pmRomney can win and will be good for the country. His business acumen is exactly what we need right now. Granite Staters aren’t “frozen”, they are sensible. That said, I wish there was another Reagan out there in the wings – but sadly there’s not.
As far as Palin goes, yes I like her and I think she’s hot (for more than one reason). I also think that Obama and the Marxists will clobber her (and us) in 2012 if she’s our candidate. That would be a HUGE mistake because not only would we end up with 4 more years of the Kenyan Muslim, but probably a democrat congress as well. We cannot allow that. No, her negatives are much too high.
And no, I am not being a conservative apologist – I am a realist.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 9:29pmRomney would kick some serious butt if he were nominated as the Republican candidate! If we want to get out of debt, he is the only one who can get us there! You can’t honestly tell me you would vote Democrat if he were the Republican candidate? I am willing to vote for any Republican candidate who is willing to run against Obama!

Posted on February 16, 2011 at 2:43amYou people who are slamming Mitt Romney do not have a clue what you are talking about. Name one Presidential candidate who won the Presidency without a previous run. To win the Presidency takes tremendous name recognition and resources and a strong organization if you are not a Democrat who get all kinds of free publicity and favorable manupulation from the lamestream media. Case in point the last three Carter, Clinton and Obama none were widely known but the Republicans basically have one realistic choice and that is Mitt Romney. You need to stop listening to lamestream and establishment soundbytes and opinions on Mitt Romney. His healthcare plan was constitutional and done on a state level, did not raise taxes and unlike Obamacare the people of Mass thought they wanted it and he was competent enough to get it done in a state with a huge Democratic majority. He has come out against any national healthcare plan and definitely is against Obamacare. Other than that and his change of becoming pro life he has no baggage and nobody is perfect. To give you examples Christie is against the 2nd amendment, Trump donated to the likes of Anthony Wiener and Charles Shumer campaigns and will not go on Mark Levine’s radio show to answer questions and Mark has invited him many times. Newt Gingrich was speaker of the house and a major force in getting NAFTA and GATT passed and is a member of the CFR. Ron Paul although I agree with him on a lot of issues will not be able to get anywhere near double digit numbers on the National Level and Sarah Palin has way too high of negatives, unfair but there is no way she has the resources or the time to overcome those before 2012. Mitt Romney is the only one who has the organization in place and the resources and a very impressive business and political background. He is also performs very good in debates and will trounce Obama when given the chance. He has tremendous backbone as you do not get to be the CEO of Bain Capital without a backbone of steel. You need to read his book because he is definitely the right candidate and is not a member of the CFR. The more I have got to know him the more I have come to like him and I am probably as conservative and pro constitution of almost anyone on here. Mitt Romney is not a RINO and you are really shown your lack of research how prone you are to believing propaganda when you say these things about him. Start with his book “No Apologies” and check many sources on him using critical thinking and attend a live event of his like I have and I almost guarantee that the more research you do the more you will like him. Check this video out this shows how humble and selfless this guy is this will help you begin to see the Mitt Romney that I know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqyqu-Vgusc

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 4:01pmActually Romney is the best qualified. No question.
Report Post »Romney would be a terrific choice for the nomination.
Allen West would be a popular second.
Gov Christie. Newt.
But a thinking man’s vote would see Romney, objectively, as the best potential candidate. Hands down.
