Pot-Smoking Mom Arrested After Driving Off With Baby on the Roof of Her Car

Pot Smoking Mom Catalina Clouser Arrested After Forgetting Baby on the Roof of Her Car

Catalina Clouser, 19, was arrested after driving away with her 5-week-old baby on the roof of her car, police said.

A marijuana-smoking woman was arrested Saturday in Phoenix after driving off with her one-month-old baby still on the roof of her car, according to local media reports.

The infant, strapped into a safety seat, fell off the vehicle in the middle of the street but was unhurt, a Phoenix police spokesman told Reuters.

Catalina Clouser, 19, was booked on child abuse and aggravated assault charges. According to KTVK-TV, she had been smoking marijuana with her boyfriend and others in a park Friday evening. Clouser and her boyfriend reportedly went to go buy beer around 11 p.m. when he was arrested for driving under the influence with a baby in the vehicle.

According to Reuters, Clouser was then so upset about her boyfriend‘s arrest that she drove to a friend’s home and “admittedly smoked one or two additional bowls of marijuana,” police said.

She left around midnight with the baby asleep in the car seat, placing the carrier on top of the vehicle and apparently forgetting about the child.

She didn’t realize her mistake until she got home, KTVK reported, at which point she called her friends and asked if they could start looking for the baby.

She returned to the scene, where police had already been called, and admitted what had happened and was taken into custody.

The infant is in the custody of child protective services.

Give the girl a break, she is a Mormon Romney fan, and figured if riding on top of the car roof was good enough for Seamus, why isn’t it good enough for her child?

She didn’t have a crate handy to contain the poor little child, so she just let it fend for itself. Just look at the photo and you know the child doesn’t have a chance with that mom, and where’s the dad?
Oh, if it’s the same one who fathered the child, he’s in jail.
Such wonderful home lives these poor children are raised up in. No wonder they’re like they are when they grow up with “the dreams of their absent father and drugged mother.”

Glenn did a WONDERFUL job at telling US about the draconian nature of the Progressives in the late 19th & early 20th Centuries, & he talked often about the role they played in alcohol Prohibition via their passing of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.

But when it comes to other recreational drugs (marijuana, opiates, coca leaves, etc.), he has had a major yellow streak running down his back & hardly ever mentioned it.

I’m with you mom! Unfortunately it still doesn’t always work. I have 2 neices that were both headed down the same road that this gal is, one turned her life around and embraced the love and responsibility of having a child, the other not so much. She’s had 4 pregnancies now, one was given up for adoption, one aborted, and one being raised by it’s grandmother, the 4th will be born in a state prison. She’s one strike away from spending life in prison in 2 states now. Some people will never learn and grow up. she’s had many chances but has refused to do so. If this is the mother’s first “incident” then she deserves a chance to change her life around, however, if she can’t, then the baby needs to be placed with people who will love and cherish it.

It’s funny – many the same people that voted for Obama, want to blame pot for this story.
Things are not to blame, the person is. In this case that person is Catalina Clouser.
I say funny; as, the president proudly admits to inhaling.
Banning stuff is the liberal solution to this nasty little thing we call free will.
They figure if they can keep bad things away from us, we won’t get hurt.
Problem is, they can’t keep bad things away from us – only some things some of the time.
Also, most things are not harmful all the time; so, keeping these things from us can, often times, actually do harm.
MJ isn’t just a recreational drug. It’s also a medicine.
Thus far attempts to extract portions of it, have resulted in reduced medical benefit and increased side effects.
It’s high time our government stopped trying so hard to protect people from themselves.
We are not some generic collective to be managed, we are individuals.
Some of us are smart; and, some (like this woman) are not.
Treating all of us like her, (I don’t toke by the way) is, among other things, a violation of the principles on which the country was founded and an insult to my intelligence.

@T2EPC – Unleash what exactly. About 80% of all adult Americans admit to having tried pot at least once. It’s been banned for most of our entire lifetimes. The only thing unleashed by the ban is violent criminal gangs who make most of their livings selling illegally something that would be dirt cheap if sold legally. In most states, seniors on chemo have to buy it illegally, to mitigate the effects of their therapy; as, nothing else works. Pot is perhaps one of the most important and versatile life saving medicines we have available; but, it’s banned by the federal government; and, in order to continue qualifying for federal aid, by most states. It’s like banning penicillin – well if it turned out people could also get high off it.

Junky uses drug of choice and decides to keep to it’s self: None of my business, none of your buisness, none of the govt.’s business.
Junky does drug of choice and decides to put others (it doesn’t matter if any of the others are babies, old ladies or govt. agents) in harm’s way: That particular junky should be sat on… and hard.
Before everyone starts spitting fire and brimstone, we need to be reminded that summer is coming up. There is a public service announcement being played on the radio reminding the general population (not just junkies) to not leave babies in parked cars with the engine off and windows up.
    http://www.gentleparents.com/summersafety.html
Odd. No mention of drugs on the radio or in the link. In fact, the radio announcement states that even lawyers have left babies in cars. That might make you think a lawyer had a hand in creating the spot… since most of us know many lawyers can rationlize as to why killing babies is legal and necessary in a free society. I’ve never known lawyers to be a particularly moral or responsible tribe. In a sane world, we’d have a radio spot urging us to avoid and report lawyers. But I digress.
Yes, the pot smoking was a contributing factor, but do you believe this is the only way in which this kid is failing that child and society? This is one dumb kid who shouldn’t have a baby. In a way, problem solved.
Let’s hope she gets offered tx… so our money can be wasted trying to ‘salvage’ this bum.

And, yes, I realize the story reads she left the baby ON the car, not IN the car. I’m just attempting to provide consideration of analogous behavior. There is no shortage of video to be perused showing children being placed in danger thru negligence. And I‘m quite certain most examples don’t involve junkies.
Being a kid is dangerous stuff. Throw adults in the mix, and it’s downright deadly.

I know people who have done equally as stupid thing’s and never touched a drug or drink in there life. It’s easy to blame the substance instead of the character of the individual. By blaming the pot, you are giving her the excuse of not taking full responsibility for her carelessness with her child. Obviously this girls only issue is that she was over absorbed with what was happening in her own life, and not focused on the precious cargo she was carrying around. I‘m not saying the pot didn’t help her to forget, I’m just saying, the distraction was already there, she could have forgotten either way.

You present a weak argument at best like most who try and rationalize pot use, or any other drug or mind-altering substance (to include alcohol IMO).

I’ve read a thousand times on here where you “so-called” Conservatives, lmao… Constitutional, liberty and freedom experts have got it all down to a science regarding any number of subjects to advance an ideology of stupidity and idiocy in the name of personal freedom and liberty. The left spins it one way… and you spin it another. The idiocy is all the same in the end and a danger to those of us who have the right to protect ourselves from those who might do us harm in any number of ways by prohibiting the source.

You self-righteous puritans are so stupid–guess what; EATING is putting a “mind-altering substance” into your body. Your ENTIRE body is nothing more than a giant series of chemical reactions, and an important part of your interaction and “feeling” of the world is the chemical interaction you have with it. The feeling of “pleasure” you have at seeing things pleasurable to your eye, or enjoying something you like the taste of, is engaged by some of the EXACT SAME neurobiological processes that are the result of the use of drugs such as tobacco or marijuana. And guess what else? All of your bodies, REGARDLESS of how their chemical reactions play out, will die, sooner, or later.

LIFE has a 100% fatality rate, so stop pretending you are somehow better, or really any different, than anyone else because your arbitrary division of “acceptable pleasures” and “vices” is different, when in fact that’s purely a human convention, a reflection of your personal opinions, and by no means guarantees you will live or die any sooner or later than anyone else–as humans we do not have such exact control. You could die in the middle of reading this sentence from an aneurysm. The point of life isn’t to avoid death, as that is impossible, rather it is to MAKE something of life. How you choose to do that is up to you, but ONLY you can ONLY form values for YOURSELF. Others might ACCEPT them if they are persuasive, but you have no authority or ability to choose FOR them.

THIRD. Lmao! That was about the best mind-altered spin I’ve read on here yet. Maybe ALL TIME. Kudos. What I have learned is that some will write anything, say anything, endorse anything or anyone to push forward an agenda of idiocy and stupidy. You are winner!

Slap yourself………then slap yourself on the back. DANG THAT WAS GOOD!! I Almost wanted to go out and smoke a joint with you…. not. I will however drink one half a glass of wine with dinner in your honor!! But just today…

You describe Statism aka Socialism aka modern liberalism aka Progressivism.

Subverting individual freedoms and liberty to choose and impose collectivism is the foundation of these ideologies. AND you defend these ideologies consistently. HAHAHAHA

Seems you really don’t have a clue what you stand for. If you really are intellectually honest you might see your own hypocrisy.

All the greatest minds in history got there from smoking pot. Haven’t you noticed your pot smoking friends and how smart they became after years of smoking it?

Ya mean the army didn’t swoop in and detain her undeterminably without an attorney for the use of illegal drugs while caring for a child, suspicion of giving birth to a child while under the influence of an illegal drug, and driving while improper restraint of a child? But of course pot is harmless, right? This woman can do with she wants with HER body (the liberal line).

Yep. Marijuana makes people stupid. As does most TV, excessive drinking, and (shockingly) a great deal of the education system.
I think you’re confusing private behavior with criminal behavior. No one wants to make it legal to put babies in more danger (remember, we’ve already made abortion legal).
I’m not a Ron Paul supporter. I just believe in being honest. The ‘war on drugs’ is a pox that establishes violent, criminalized providers, is based on fear and lies and sucks up huge sums of money that could be spent on actual meaningful social programs.
And I say let junkies rot.

Most Paul supporters are not for legalization of drugs dumbazz.
Most Paul supporters are primarily concerned with the debt crisis.

The reasom why the FEDERAL drug laws should be repealed is because their enforcement is a waste of money and duplication of state law enforcement and also a violation of the 10th amendment.
I am NOT a drug user nor do I support the legalization of drug for recreational use in my state…however, I do support the repeal of the federal laws and the defunding of the DEA.

I‘m not brilliant and I’m not a junky and I know prohibition is a stupid, heavy-handed approach in trying to control any problem. Odd that you seem so afraid of drugs and drug users. Here’s a thought: Don’t associate with drug users. Hell, that is the NUMBER ONE reason why treatment programs fail: Junky returns home to his or her junky friends. Hey, maybe we can make having friends illegal. You’ll go a long way to addressing recidivism. You can’t be too careful….
Funny how the number one cause of untimely death in the U.S. is heart disease. Poor health related to diet and lack of exercise is the number one concern eating up health care resources when the general population is considered. So many of you will champion a war on drugs, but not a war on food? Wacky. If you’re going to have one, you damn will better expect the other. You’ve asserted you need govt. to save you from yourself. Well, careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
I understand it is difficutl to watch someone you care about destroy themselves with drugs. I’ve seen it in my own family. But we’ve done more harm than good in our authoritarian approach to addressing drug use that is laughably based on the disease model. Drug use is no more a disease than overeating. But you gotta be able to tap that sweet insurance money.
Wanna know why prohibition thru fear is so popular? Follow the money.
