Prelude to a Run? Sarah Palin to Debut New Documentary in Iowa

With possible GOP presidential candidates dropping like winter temperatures in Antarctica, could this be the perfect political landscape for Sarah Palin to announce her presidential run? If you consider she’s set to debut a documentary about her life in June and in the important caucus state of Iowa, you might say yes.
“Shortly after Republicans swept last November to a historic victory in which Sarah Palin was credited with playing a central role, the former Alaska governor pulled aside her close aide, Rebecca Mansour, to discuss a hush-hush assignment: Reach out to conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon with a request,” Scott Conroy writes on RealClearPolitics. “Ask him if he would make a series of videos extolling Palin’s governorship and laying to rest lingering questions about her controversial decision to resign from office with a year-and-a-half left in her first term. It was this abdication, Palin knew, that had made her damaged goods in the eyes of some Republicans who once were eager to get behind her potential 2012 presidential campaign.”
Bannon obliged, and that project is now nearing its end. The result is a two-hour documentary that will “serve as a galvanizing prelude to Palin’s prospective presidential campaign — an unconventional reintroduction to the nation that she and her political team have spent months eagerly anticipating, even as Beltway Republicans have largely concluded that she won’t run.”
“This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment,” Bannon told RealClearPolitics. “Let’s have a good old-fashioned brouhaha.”
So how is the country first learning about the film, titled “The Undefeated,” now? RCP explains:
When they requested from Alaska‘s TV news stations footage that was shot during Palin’s political rise, they asked for additional tapes containing subject matters that were irrelevant to their project, in order not to raise suspicions. And rather than staying at the well-appointed Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, they instead took up temporary residence in low-key motels.
“We shot on the weekends, and we shot in locations that weren’t being used during those weekends,” Bannon said. “I did it with a handpicked crew of people I know and trust, and we were able to stay under the radar. The planning for the secrecy of this took many, many weeks.”
According to Conroy, the film has two messages. First, Palin is a true Maverick who bucked the trend in Alaska. And second, she’s the only conservative “who can both build on the legacy of the Reagan Revolution and bring the ideals of the tea party movement to the Oval Office.”
Sounds a lot like a campaign pitch, doesn’t it?
You can read more about the film on RealClearPolitics.

Posted on May 25, 2011 at 9:37amI believe that Sarah could win as either the president or vice president now that she has established herself as a household word. One thing I really respect her for is the fact that she never wavers from her grass roots and I believe she could set this country on the road to energy independence.as well as world respect as a great leader. She is almost the reverse image than the Nimrod that we have now and it would really bring a breath of fresh air to this confused bunch in DC. I am afraid that 4 more years of this Nimrod which we call a president will destroy the foundation of this Republic. It was a shame that she rode on the coattails of McCain and didn’t have a decent running mate in her bid for the white house. .

Posted on May 25, 2011 at 9:18amJust what we need for breakfast–a thread sure to bring out the trolls with the same tired lines we’ve been hearing for three years.
I sure hope the idea of Palin running is just for the entertainment value of driving the Left crazy (it’ll be a short trip, I know). Sarah is in her element, in that she can garner strong support for Conservative candidates across the country where they’re needed most: governorships, state houses, attorneys general, and in more-local elections. That’s where the real power of the people lies.
There is such a thing as over-exposure, and the only one getting more attention in the MSM than the Palins is Obow. Let Sarah do what she does best: to help wrest the Pub Party from the RINOs, get solid Conservatives into office, and help groom future Conservative candidates for the White House. Any real changes for the country will start at the bottom, not the top. A solid Conservative Congress can make a Obow a lame-duck starting in 2013, and Sarah could be instrumental in achieving that.
Isn‘t it ironic in a way that Sarah’s forte is community organizing, at least in the political arena?

I really like people who fight the establishment, and the more the left trashes her, the more people like her-something about the underdog getting rooted for. Before anyone starts the trashing just remember none of us are perfect, but I love folks who are as disgusted with Washington as I am. Posted on May 25, 2011 at 9:55amSNOW LEOPARD……Those on the left are not scared of her.The ‘thing about her’ is that she genuinly is politically inept and really quite ignorantly stupid and I think this just leaves them aghast. They can not fathom why the right holds her in such esteem apart from the fact that she does posses a personality, albeit an extremely annoying one,and they are limited in valid candidates.
Report Post »hauschild
Posted on May 25, 2011 at 9:59amShe’s really the only viable option in my book. I mean, every other candidate is going to get chewed-up and spit out by the press. Palin’s battle-tested – probably the most bashed political figure I can ever remember. And, guess what? She doesn’t care. This is the type of person we need in the ring.
Just listen to every other candidate and then have the stones to tell me they represent your ideals anywhere near Palin? It’s not possible. Sarah Palin is really the closest thing we’ve got to Reagan. Every other candidate is either a lifelong politician, or somebody that really doesn’t share our core beliefs.
You guys can dismiss it all you want, but it is true. The last thing this country needs is a Republican as the next POTUS that is a lightweight with no bite. If that’s the case, nothing will change and then you’ll get the usual line from the independent voters, “Both sides are crooks.”, after the RINO fails miserably.
We keep saying we want real change, but only a few of us have the stones to follow through. You can’t go about this halfway. It’s either full bore or forget about it.

Posted on May 25, 2011 at 10:45amWell well ,NickDeringer the infamous anti Palin poster.
As governor, Palin demonstrated many of the qualities we expect in our best leaders. She set aside private concerns for the greater good.
She succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling, at least for a time, what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.
While other states reel under staggering deficits, budget cuts, and protests, Alaska has built up a $12 billion surplus, most of it attributable to Palin’s tax. Galvin estimates that it has raised $8 billion more than Murkowski’s tax would have. But given the corruption that plagued the PPT, a better benchmark might be the tax it supplanted—the one put on the books after the Exxon Valdez spill. By that measure, Palin’s major achievement has probably meant the difference between a $12 billion surplus and a deficit…
On the big issues she left the state in better shape than most people, herself included, seem to realize or want to credit her for.
Palin’s achievement was to pull Alaska out of a dire, corrupt, enduring systemic crisis and return it to fiscal health and prosperity when many people believed that such a thing was impossible

The truth is that Sarah Palin is more than qualified to step up to the plate this 2012 election cycle if she so chooses.

I will absolutely support her, and also Trump, as it looks like he played the left for fools…and the ‘supposed righ-as in karl rove etc.”…..he signed the deal w/nbc for $$$$120 million for two years…because, i am guessing here, but the left wanted him our of the race, so he will basically turn the show over to other people of his liking, in the event he wants to jump in, he is writing a policy book to add substance to his possible run, and that tells me he was saavy enogh to exit, when the heat against him was so strong, but smart enough to even NOW consider the run as an independant. Report Post »In Wyoming she endorsed the female candidate who was not the most conservative. Because of that endorsement, we got stuck with a RINO. If she would have researched all the candidates (she didn’t even speak to the conservative candidate) and was truly a conservative she would have either endorsed the conservative man or stayed out. I noticed that she almost exclusively endorsed women. What someone stands for is more important than their sex or race.
