President Obama Insults Former President Bush At His Own Portrait Hanging

President Barack Obama Insults Former President George W. Bush At Bushs Portrait Hanging at White House

Apparently, as with so many other things, some people who hold the Presidency have class and some don’t. To all appearances, former President George W. Bush is the former, and current President Barack Obama is the latter, at least if this afternoon‘s unveiling of former President Bush’s Presidential portrait is any guide.

This event – which is, at least in theory, supposed to be free of partisan sniping, got an earful of just that when President Obama gave his introductory remarks welcoming Bush:

President Obama on Thursday twisted the knife he‘d stuck in his predecessor’s legacy, reminding former President George W. Bush that he left the economy a mess and al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden alive when he left the White House three years ago.

“The months before I took the oath of office were a chaotic time,” Obama told a crowd of mostly former Bush administration officials and members of the Bush family, including Bush’s parents, former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush.[...]

“We knew our economy was in trouble, our fellow Americans were in pain, but we wouldn’t know until later just how breathtaking the financial crisis had been,” Obama continued, raising some eyebrows among the Bush crowd seated just a few feet away.

Obama stopped short of blaming Bush for the recession, something he has done repeatedly on the campaign trail.

Instead, Obama couched his remarks with praise of the former president, thanking Bush for going out of his way “in the middle of that crisis … to make sure that the transition to a new administration was as seamless as possible.”

Translation: “Thanks for getting out of the way and letting the smart people take over, you jerk.”

Bush, however, was the picture of grace, not saying anything remotely insulting about Obama or his wife, and instead treating them with all the deference a sitting President might expect. Indeed, the only place where Bush could have been construed to say anything insulting was when he named his own wife the best First Lady ever, with his mother Barbara Bush maybe tying her. And as to himself, he didn’t pull any punches there, using his typical self-deprecating humor.

“Madame First Lady, thank you so much for inviting our rowdy friends to my hanging,” he joked.

You can watch former President Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush’s remarks below:

The Amount of stories leaking out from his former staffers about the stuff he did for All of them and all the low level WH staff and private visits to members of the military. I voted for Bush..but then he revealed himself to me when I saw how “in bed with the Muslims” that he was. let them “mourn” along side us after 9/11..wouldn’t allow Israel to go after Iran…sold our ports to the Arabs.and built that super highway to Mexico and Canada..Then I was abhorred that a Muslim would become President..But things I did not know..The Federal Reserve’s (consisting of Rockefellers etc) Evelyn Rothchild’s estimated worth is 500 trillion.he sets the gold prices every day..He houses the gold of the Vatican..Islam was created for political purposes..power and greed. it was tied with the Vatican and is still tied with the Catholic Church..She just place the black Muslim Somalians into jobs here..The Federal Reserve is the boss of the banking cartels..700 billion in TARP went to Sharia Compliant Banks.(meaning the Banks pay 2.5% of every investment to organizations funding Islamic terrorism..7% in fines for any Sharia Law broken..That should tell you who the Islamic terrorists work for..It’s a smooth game. GOldman Sachs was the largest recipient of TARP.is my understanding..Goldman Sachs is Romnae’s biggest contributor. We have been Shcmucked.

I never said he wasn’t a nice guy. I’m sure even Obama treats his inner party well.
I was simply pointing out UN-CONSTITUTIONAL moves made by both administrations.
McCain seems nice too and a veteran, and yet a McCain administration would have had us in 4 or 5 WARS by now. Romney seems nice and “looks Presidential” but Romney also stated he would have signed NDAA (worst thing for Americans freedoms EVER). Romney also signed an assault riffle ban.

Yeah, nice guys for sure. I have even laughed at a few of the Obama jokes. The FACT still remains; THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION.

P.S. Bill Gates is nice and I have read he is great to work for. Do you think he would make a good leader?

Also look when bush started spending like crazy, around same time democrats took congress. NO EXCUSE BUT comparing 4.7 trillion in 8 years to 5.4 trillion in 3 years is not even a comparison. We saw with clintons balanced budget that who controls congress has big impact on budget. ( at least with normal presidents who negotiate, NOT OBAMA no talking like adults)

Yes we do know! There weren’t Al-queda in IRAQ when we invaded!
We came first! They came after the invasion! We were told we were going due to WMD’s.
Where are the WMD’s? What happened to WE THE PEOPLE? Aren’t WARS supposed to be voted on by us (CONGRESS)?
The “WMD/WAR on terror“ in Iraq shifted gears and all of the sudden became ”Operation Iraqi freedom”.
Taliban never attacked us until we entered Afganastan! Taliban are a militia! Part of the same militia we armed when they were fighting the Soviets!
I’m an armed citizen. Think I’m going to stand idly by when an invading force shows up outside my house? NO
I’m going to fight! I don’t care how much the outsiders claim they want to help. You kill my neighbors, family and friends; You can’t persuade me any differently. I’m going to fight!
We also know that the Iraqi military was disbanded by Bremmer and the soldiers weren’t even allowed to work within Iraqi borders!

      @WAKINGSHEEP

My two biggest complaints about Bush were that 20% of his budget was borrowed and the “Patriot” Act. As for the wars, I think Afghanistan was justified. The Taliban was knowingly sheltering our enemy. It was and is a friend to global terrorism. As for Iraq, I have mixed feelings.

So you can guess my two biggest complaints against Obama: well over 40% of his budget is borrowed and signing the NDAA.

I’m not a fan of the bailouts either, of course…. BUT, the feds had to bail out the banks. Why? Because it was the federal government’s %$^$%$!@~^&@&# regulations that caused much of the problems. Since they helped cause it, it’s their responsibility to help clean it up. The auto industry is also burdened by government regulation but not in nearly the same crippling manner as the banks. IMO the government should have kept out of that situation. And the so called stimulus package was nothing but influence peddling and back stage politics.

As for the taliban aiding Al-Queda; What was Pakistan doing with Osama?
We give them money by the truckload and how do they repay; They support terrorist groups, and put the intel in prison! This is why meddling with these countries will continue to get worse and worse.
Look at the nation building in Libya. That regime we have been proping up is gone now.
Look at the Afghan troops (our allies now) turning on us. Shooting us in the back.
Where is the next war? Syria is murdering their citizens, North Korea about the same.
      Do we go there next?
We took down Osama the way it should have been done from the start; Our spy network and a seal team.
The banks didn’t need to get bailed out. They would have figured it out.
We bailed out bad policies and business practices.
If you have a child that throws a fit when they don’t get their candy and you go ahead and give it to them; Will the behavior be different next time around? Will the behavior stop?
Bailouts take the bad decisions of few and throw the responsibility of those decisions on everybody else.

Bush looked comfortable and confident. He truly looked like the “boss”, there to check up on the place of business. It was amazing to watch Bush and Obama walking beside each other, Bush looking like he had just returned home. Walking beside him was Barry, talking and gesticulating with his hands as if he was making excuses for the stains Bush was about to see on the carpet or piles of empty beer cans and booze bottles in the kitchen sink.

Throughout all this I kept thinking to myself…the Obamas have to look at G.W. Bush everyday now..there’s some gratification in that.

ZENZAZIN..I can name you one thing about Bush being classier than Obama right off the bat. Bush expressly forbade any pictures of him being taken saluting our returned fallen at Dover.

Obama on the other hand went against our military families’ wishes and allowed a photographer to accompany him and take a picture of him saluting our fallen as they returned home at Dover. The now infamous shot of him with the sun putting him in silhouette was then put on the White House website as “photo of the day” and later distributed to news outlets.

WAKINGSHEEP…probably the biggest blunder the Obama administration has committed in it’s laughable foreign policy has been to allow Assad to gain credibility and remain in power in Syria. Libya was not our problem. Libya was Europe’s problem. Europe relies heavily on Libyan oil.
Syria on the other hand is a key player in arming and funding Hamas and Hezbollah through Iran.
You’ll recall the ridiculous photo of Nancy Pelosi wearing a head scarf as speaker of the house meeting with Assad? You‘ll recall Obama set up an embassy in Damascus to pander to Assad’s ego? How did those “open hand not closed fist” policies of Obama’s pan out?
If Obama was truly an intelligent man he’d have seen the opportunity to change the balance of power in the middle east and taken Assad out but making sure a sympathetic government to our needs took over the vacant leadership there. I’m not even going to comment on Obama not reaching to the “Green” faction in Iran. Another wasted chance.
History will judge Obama for the rank amateur, panderer and incompetent that he is. Everything Obama does security wise if put through a political filter. Heck..he even had his campaign adviser David Axelrod at his “kill list” meetings.
Seriously…bleat all you want about Bush, Iraq and Iran…but we have the first real opportunity to change the balance of power in the middle east by taking Assad out but Obama is too concerned wtih homosexual marriage, fudging spending numbers

name one single instance where Bush was actually “classy” during his presidency. all I remember was a smarmy, constantly smirking a-hole who never listened to anyone other than Cheney and his cronies who have been making millions off of the war in iraq. nor did he even attempt to listen to people from the other side of the aisle, and said anyone who didn’t follow everything he said was unAmerican. calling nearly half the population unAmerican is real classy
      ****
You’re talking points are being wiped out by the spilled Kool Aide stain. Bush never said that stuff the left just said he did.
If you want reports of Bush being Classy, talk to the families of deceased military heroes whom he met with. Point # 1 : He ALWAYS sent the press out to privately speak to the families.
Point # 2: He always asked if there was anything he personally could do to help with their time of loss, and ALWAYS followed through if there was.
Point # 3 : Bush always knew personally and individually who he had given medals to posthumously and who he had awarded medals in their lifetimes, and NEVER got the two mixed up in his speeches!
AS MILITARY FAMILY, I CAN TELL YOU EVERY SOLDIER I’VE SPOKEN WITH AND FAMILY OF MILITARY I KNOW SAYS BUSH CARED INDIVIDUALLY ABOUT EACH PERSON HE PUT “in harm’s way” AND HIS RULES OF ENGAGEMENT WERE MEANT TO PROTECT THEM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! (Not so b o’s)

I don‘t agree with much anything the left has to say but there is a lot with the right I don’t like either.
All in All i have a problem with majority rule. That is the whole reason the Constitution came together the way it did. We weren’t supposed to be majority rule. Look what it does to us.
8 years the right way – then 4 years the left – then back another so many years to the right – on and on.
I didn’t like Bush but Obama is downright scary! I believe if we do not as Americans say “FOLLOW THE RULE OF LAW, FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION” then we are headed in a bad way.
I don’t want to see another “lesser of two evils” in the WH even though I know it would be better than Obama. We have been doing it for generations and it doesn’t look like we will be able to hold out that way for much longer.

Say what you clowns will, but history will prove him to be the best President for the awful times that came upon us when Clinton refused to capture Osama B.L. when he had several chances to get him. That one incident probably allowed 9/11 to happen.

According to “the chosen one” he can grow us out of this mess that Bush/Obama left us. His cridentials are “saving the olympics” and “Bain”?

We will need 2 trillion over what we take in revenue just to balance the budget and add 500B to the deficit.

An extra 2 trillion in revenue will require the GDP to grow by about 10 trillion.

To grow that much means another 20 million more barrels of oil a day for a total of 40 million for the USA.

Ain’t gonna happen so the best we can do this summer is “enjoy the olympics” cause I think it will be our last as Good Old USA.

Political relativists uses opportunities like this to remind us that the Democrats and the Republicans are basically the same because while one is openly socialist the other professes freedom while quietly pushing socialism as well.

That may be true, but there’s something bigger here with Obama. While we’ve had presidents (Probably 40 or so) who put themselves first over the country and therefore were willing to allow the country to suffer to some degree for their personal gain, we’ve probably never had a president who put punishing the country over their own personal gain until Obama. Obama is unique in that he is willing to hurt his own political career in order to damage this country. Case in point? Even with the liberal media slobbering all over Obamacare, people did not want it and they still do not want it.

Stop promoting one side over the other – they are both EVIL. If Obama wins we lose. If Romney wins we lose.

If you blindly support the Democrats because you are a bleeding heart for government funded human welfare and policies that attack the truth of holy scripture – then you support EVIL.

If you blindly support the Republicans because you are a bleeding heart for capitalism regardless of ethics and rejoice in murdering innocent people around the globe who need the good news of the gospel – then you support EVIL.

What this country needs is a pro-nationalist movement that promotes peace with our international neighbors – promotes the teaching of American History (the works of our Founders – not fem/minority counterculture) – works to actually secure our borders – promotes anglo-european immigration to counter the international immigration which has run rampant – reaffirms personal responsibility and Christian morals in our work and business dealings – promotes church going and prayer -punishes companies which choose to benefit from globalization at the expense of the Nation’s best interests.

On the other hand a man with so much dignity and decency as to offer sincere gratitude toward the same president who just jabbed at him, with self-effacing humor that embraced everyone in the room, and everyone in the country. And at the same time GWB was spending this country broke he gave tax cuts at the same time. First time in this country’s history that a President cut taxes in a time of war. But what makes me sick about the whole thing. Is that you short term memory morons blame this president for all of it. Those whom don’t remember the past are doomed to repeat it. You want to quibble over whether you slandered Bush? You, the sole champion of the US Constitution, you the spigot of self-righteous superiority?

Here’s one opinion you stated as fact, which qualifies as a slanderous misstatement:”Sent us to WAR in the wrong country after the wrong enemy (Iraq).” We were not at war with Iraq. Bush never identified Iraq as an enemy nor a target of war by the US military. Wrong country? Wrong enemy? Slander.

You missed my point, so I’ll restate it. Though you won’t get it this time either. Your equating of Bush and Obama as equivalent is BOGUS. Your using the occasion of the hanging of Bush’s portrait to make this bogus, slanderous claim IS morally equivalent to Obama using this occasion to score points at Bush’s expense.

How much of the real financial meltdown in 2008 was really related to the fact that investors wanted out of the market due to the financial problem with the housing market but also the market was afraid of the Marxist coming into the whitehouse. I will always believe the mega meltdown was because of the prospect of Obama coming to power.

      @soybomb
A history lesson: Do you remember January 3, 2007? The truth can be instructive.
You may not like G.W. Bush, and will declare that the following is not true! But this is a History lesson, so I’m sending it to all, regardless of party.
And, I bet I know who won’t read it – those who are afraid of the truth. But it IS history, and nothing we do can change the facts listed here!
The day the Democrats took over was not January 20, 2009; it was actually January 3, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the
House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.
The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
For those who are listening to liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:
On January 3, 2007, the day the Democrats took control of Congress –
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
      The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush’s Economic policies had SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

January 3rd, 2007 was the day Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and
Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
      Answer: BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney), for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4

The man respected the office, took everything the media through at him and never said anything to disrespect the office, the military were given the proper respect and never apologized for anything the USA did…

Also unless you had your head in the sand, he tried to prevent the collapse of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, but since Obama and the Democrats had control of both the House and Senate, it was swept under the rug… remember the democrats were in control of the congress since 2006…when the wheels started falling off the bus.

His ideology prohibits him from creative problem solving. Ideology kills creativity as a function of dogmatic ideological adherence. It has to. That “IS” the purpose of ideology. And we have seen it time and time again from ‘progressives’, ‘socialists’, ‘communists’, ‘marxists’. Because it forces dogma down from the top.

You might argue that ‘America’ is an ideology. And you’d be right. But the single difference that makes ALL the difference “IS” that in America the ‘ideology’ “IS” that freedom and liberty are YOURS. They belong to you. And those Rights to freedom and liberty come to you from Almighty God, as an individual. For He created you in His image. Each one. Not from the ‘state’. Savvy?

You want to know why the banks got bailed out BECAUSE the Government had too as it is responsible for the MORTGAGE CRISIS. By both forcing banks to make risky loans and then sponsering Fannie and Freddie to keep interest rates downs so there was no way the banks could write off the red ink with the black ink.
Bush never issued a single financial policy, fact is Bush wanted to place regulation on the mortgage industry all the way back in 2001 has his team saw the possibility of a mortgage crisis.

Democrats will NEVER forgive Bush for lying to start an unneccesary war which killed nearly a million (Iraq)
      ——-
You lie! You are citing Dim polls. Provide the OFFICIAL number of civilian deaths or shut up. The IBC count is 105,052 — 114,731 civilian deaths, and ~162,000 civilian and combatant deaths, and that includes the 3.5 years of Obama, when enemy attacks have increased.

=> The democrats could have won with Karl Marx himself in 2008 and they knew it.
      ——-
Wrong again. McCain was ahead in the polls. Obama’s inexperience was bringing his numbers down and Dims knew it. So they set the financial panic in motion and Bush was blamed for it. It was a carefully crafted takeover plan, but it went partially wrong because Bush realized he had been played and refused to sign the second bailout, so Obama was forced to do it. Obama lied about it for two years nonstop. He made Bush and Bush alone responsible for the bailouts.

Your man, RP, never accomplished anything, yet you blame Bush for things that were beyond his reach as president or that you as a civilian have no intel about.

    When did Unemployment rise?
When did Obama become a US Senator?
When did the Democrats take control of the Purse Strings of the US economy?
When were Democrats warned about Freddy and Fannie?
When did the economy go to hell and spiral out of control?
When did spending get way out of hand?
When did the democrats ever do anything to actually fix the economy?

The democrats were in control…Bush only had veto power.

Unfortunately, both parties have been playing in a cesspool of Other People’s Money with no accountability. That is why we are marching to DC and electing fiscally responsible representatives, if they waiver, we’ll boot them and send more. All of the old get along to go along politicians need to start packing, we the American people are coming and we are pissed. It was good to see G.W. but I‘m glad he’s retired.

Thank you. The dems had control the last 2 years of Bush’s term and he could do nothing. Most of the stuff they blame Bush for is really the fault of the Democrats in Congress who vetoed everything good for the nation and pushed everything bad for the country and made a great blame Bush story.

I loved the video above, it shows the ‘nose in the air’ Prez and his crassness and rudeness toward our x-Prez which is his M O. But I loved the cool way George came back with kindness and sweetness about his wife being best First Lady and the way he gave a few little digs without being such a cactus like O always is.

    Obama is an evil person:
Is consistently self-deceiving, with the intent of avoiding guilt and maintaining a self-image of perfection
Deceives others as a consequence of their own self-deception
Projects his or her evils and sins onto very specific targets, scapegoating others while appearing normal with everyone else (“their insensitivity toward him was selective”)
Commonly hates with the pretense of love, for the purposes of self-deception as much as deception of others
Abuses political (emotional) power (”the imposition of one’s will upon others by overt or covert coercion”)
Maintains a high level of respectability and lies incessantly in order to do so
Is consistent in his or her sins. Evil persons are characterized not so much by the magnitude of their sins, but by their consistency (of destructiveness)
Is unable to think from the viewpoint of their victim
Has a covert intolerance to criticism and other forms of narcissistic injury

All these images scare the heck out of me. I can take it, but cry for my children and what they’ll have to live through. Just look at some of the countries who follow what Obama wants to do to us.

Though I believe Obama will win the upcoming election…the electoral college being what it is…I think the moment I most look forward to (if he loses), is Romney’s inaugural address.

I remember with extreme clarity, that stuck up a-hole (yes…Obama) babbling on with his snide remarks with both Bush’s, their wives, Cheney and his wife watching from behind…as nitwit talked about how we were going to reach out to the ME with a velvet gloved hand of peace, rather than an iron fist.

You could tell then he had zero class, zero manners & fewer brains the other two combined.

I hope it is a mild, sunny day and Romney goes on for hours…sticking it to Obama and his demonic horde followers.

Oh Blaze please. President Obama said, “We knew our economy was in trouble, our fellow Americans were in pain, but we wouldn’t know until later just how breathtaking the financial crisis had been.”

So, what, that’s a lie? President Obama did the best he could to put a positive slant on Bush given the Bush legacy of two endless and pointless wars which cost us thousands of American dead, trillions in dollars in war costs we can’t pay for, and still can’t pay for, especially with billions of dollars in tax cuts, a collapsed economy at what else?

Somebody please tell me what he should have thanked Bush for? If you say help for AIDS victims in Africa, you get credit.

But exactly what should President Obama have said about Bush’s legacy? And please don’t say he cut taxes during the rich while starting two wars, I don’t see that as a positive.

So what is the Bush legacy? What are the postivive things President Obama should have said? TARP?

      @JZS.

I copied some of the story below that states this was an event for unveiling Pres. Bushs’ portrait. It was not a political event but Pres. Obama can never let an opportunity pass him by.

Apparently you can’t let a story go by either without standing up for this current President that seeminly can never do wrong in your eyes.

“Apparently, as with so many other things, some people who hold the Presidency have class and some don’t. To all appearances, former President George W. Bush is the former, and current President Barack Obama is the latter, at least if this afternoon‘s unveiling of former President Bush’s Presidential portrait is any guide.

This event – which is, at least in theory, supposed to be free of partisan sniping, got an earful of just that when President Obama gave his introductory remarks welcoming Bush”

Dude take your Obama apologist ass back to HuffnPuff or Kos. Just wtf has Obama done in 3 1/2 years that makes you think he is such an awesome president? All of the s@#$ that you complain about Bush was the result of a Democratic majority in congress and a president who didn’t stand up to them properly. You idiots sit there and act like we had 8 freaking terrible years with Bush in office but you pay absolutely no attention to the fact that nothing has gotten any better with your messiah in office. You keep spouting your ******** about wars but you conveniently leave out the fact that democrats also voted to go to war. Your incesant us versus them mentallity has completely torn this country to shreds, I am going on 50 and I have never seen this level of division between the citizens of this country and it has everything to do with the racebaiting idiot that you chose as the president of this country. We were already financially in trouble when the idiot took office and now I honestly don‘t know if we can work our way out of this because we are so divided that we can’t agree on anything. I will tell you this though regardless of whether your hero wins reelection or not we have to shrink the size of this government or we are quickly on our way to becoming just another poor third world country all your entitlement programs are not free even though you would like to think that they are.

Unlike the bizarre, irrational spin this website tried to put on the President’s remarks (what did he say that was insulting again?), President Obama was actually complimentary of Bush. Funny, they left this quote out, “All of us will always remember the image of President Bush standing on that pile of rubble, bullhorn in hand, conveying extraordinary strength and resolve to the American people but also representing the strength and resolve of the American people.”

But, I get it, even if you guys don’t. With enough creativity and utter lack of concern for the truth, you can alway take a remark and make it look negative instead of positive.

Yes W. Spent way to much in 8 years but to compare Obama in 3 years is crazy is way more in just 3 years. W is a Great President but an even better person. The Amount of stories leaking out from his former staffers about the stuff he did for All of them and all the low level WH staff and private visits to members of the military. This speech today is something I miss a lot Because of the absolute lack of character qualities from the Obama alpha and omega, humility, authenticity, and gratitude.

And also always needs to make sure people remember hey “right before i took office r economy sucked” 44 has NO humility he can not simply realize he is not perfect so He always needs to make everyone else remember Nothing is ever his fault.

I may not have agreed with Bush on many areas of what he did; yet the silence he has held in the case of Obamas Presidency has given him due credit in volumes. Even with the insults sent his way by the insane one Obama, Bush held firm and managed a good counter with the “What would Bush W. do?”

He has allowed Obama to discredit and destroy himself. History will speak well of Bush in that regard, assuming Obama does not incinerate the nation in the mean time.

made millions of Haliburton (the WAR MACHINE), etc.
Don’t get me wrong Obama is a POS, but we really need to start looking past the (R) or (D) and start looking at our leaderships adherance to the Constitution.
Yes, Bush was better than Obama and Romney will be too but they are still along the same big government mentality.
I could care less who is classier. Yes Romney even “looks Presidential” but why are we electing based on class or looks? Is the Presidency really nothing more than a beauty contest?
Look at their legislation bounced against the Constitution.
Romney, Clinton, Bush, and Obama are almost the same when it comes to big government power grabs.
