President Obama Is Already Fundraising Using His Marriage Flip Flop

Well, that didn’t take long. Barely more than a few hours after his announcement that he’d changed his position on marriage, President Obama sent out a fundraising email to his supporters asking for money because of his switch. And along with being breathtakingly cynical, the email makes the argument that Obama’s change in position has been spontaneous even more difficult to make.

Blaze reader Erica got the email in her personal account, and was kind enough to share it with the class. The email is reproduced below:

Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you’ll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

I’ve always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I’ve talked to friends and family about this. I’ve thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, I’ve gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I’ve come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn‘t dawn on them that their friends’ parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

Several news reports have already suggested that President Obama had to make this position shift after his donors refused to send him money as long as he took an anti-gay marriage position. One wonders if they took this email as their cue to reopen their wallets.

Not a new tactic by Barry, He will hype up his support for supporters of gay marriage and milk them for every dime he can. Then Barry will drop that talking point, move on to the opposing side, and hype up his support for those groups to milk them for all they are worth. He has done it before and has no problem doing it again, just no one in the media ever calls him on it.

  Problems with this NYT article: 1) It says 90% of black men who are HIV positive don’t know it. Did someone test them and not inform them of the results? 2) It says black men pride themselves on family and fatherhood. So why are so many black women single?

  why do gays and lesbians have to trash the Sanctity of marriage???? what right’s under the USA constitution do I have being a U.S citizen That gays and lesbians do not.
  Can anyone answer that?????????? NONE we all have the same rights under the uSA constitution regardless if you are gay or straight.
  
  Now what I get being married that gays and lesbians do not are some federal benifits which are not rights.
  
  See if gays would just have civil unions this would be okay I have no problem with this just don’t call them married, now gays and lesbians should be lobbying our fed govt to have them pass a law saying civil unions are afforded the same benifits as a married couple would have then everybody is happy.
  gays get what they want and married couples still have marriage.
  
  But then again that’s not what this is about. it’s about the Gays and lesbians forcing their values on everyone else.

You know, when everyone started talking Monday about Joe Biden’s “gaffe” on Meet the Press, I thought “Wait a minute. That interview was taped on Friday. You KNOW that any real gaffe would have been edited out of the final.” And so it was. Obama is now for gay marriage. Whoop de friggin do. Can we please get back to the issues. Hey, did ya know Romney prevented American automobile companies from going out of business! Sure he did. He held no office of any kind but he wrote this article see, saying the American automobile business be allowed to fail and that bailing them out would be their demise. He was against what Presidents Bush and Obama did. But now that the bailout worked he‘s saying he’s responsible for the success, because, you know, he wrote something opposing what they did. Or something I haven’t figured that out yet. But he wouldn’t lie would he? Oh Mitt, there you go again!

What is so funny about this is that when he was running for Senator he was for gay marriage. When he ran for President the money was on traditional marriage so he was only for marriage between a man and a woman. Now because he needs the money he is again for gay marriage but only in his heart seeing how it is in the states hands. So not really!!! Gay people don’t be fooled into thinking for one moment that this guy gives one you know what about gay marriage. All he wants is your money and that’s it. Political whore comes to mind.
