President Obama Says Colorado Shooting Reminds Us ‘Our Time Here Is Limited and it Is Precious’

President Obama addressed the tragic Aurora, Colo. shooting during a speech at what was originally supposed to be a campaign rally in Fort Meyers, Fla. The president left out any and all traces of his reelection campaign in an attempt to comfort a grieving nation, saying the incident reminds us “our time here is limited and it is precious.”
Obama said his administration would do everyone in his power to “ensure the safety of all our people” and pledged his support for the people of Colorado.
“While we will never know fully what causes someone to take the life of another, we do know what makes life worth living. The people we lost in Aurora loved, and they were loved. They were mothers and father, they were husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors. They had hopes for the future. They had dreams that were not yet fulfilled,” Obama said.
He continued: “I’m sure that many of you who are parents here have the same reaction that I did when I heard this news. My daughters go to the movies. What if Malia and Sasha had been at the theater, as so many of our kids do every day? Michelle and I will be fortunate enough to hug our girls a little tighter tonight and I’m sure you will do the same with your children.”
The president also included a moment of silence at the end of his address in honor of those who were killed in the shooting.

Obama has dropped plans to attend an additional re-election rally at Rollins College in Winter Park, near Orlando.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said in a statement that he and his wife, Ann, were “deeply saddened by the news of the senseless violence” that led to the loss of life and injuries. He said they were praying for the families and loved ones of the victims “during this time of deep shock and immense grief. We expect that the person responsible for this terrible crime will be quickly brought to justice.”
A gunman opened fire early Friday at a theater on the opening night of the latest Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises.” Authorities say 12 people were killed and at least 50 others were injured. Police originally said 14 people died in the attack but later revised the death toll.
The FBI said there was no indication that the shooting had any connection to terrorism.
Obama was in Florida at the time of the shooting. The White House says Obama was informed of the shooting by his Homeland Security Adviser, John Brennan, at 5:26 a.m. EDT. The White House released this statement shortly after:
“Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time,” he said in an earlier statement.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 12:43pmWhile the attack was horrible, and my heart and prayers go out to the victims, to see this man asking for a moment of silence and ‘prayer’ when he has treated the church as he has in his first term makes me want to vomit, and the expectation he and other liberals like Bloomberg will use the shooting as cause celebre to argue for ‘gun control’ makes me angry.
Bloomie was not even mourning the victims in passing as he asked what colorado would do about guns… what a mercenistic scavenger, but sadly that’s who is running this country today.

Are gun deaths among black Americans of less concern to the people running Washington, D. C.? And why in hell did Obama cancel a 2 p.m. speaking engagement at Rollins College outside Orlando? This is a guy who can do four fundraisers in one evening. Maybe it’s a national tragedy because he thinks he can milk it for a few more votes.

Obama cannot really compare his family or their lives to this.

Let’s look deeper into this situation, because like they said, no good tragedy should go to waste. Hilary Clinton and the UN arms treaty deal, Fast and Furious, and the up tick in violence in Chicago…they’re all connected. This shooting, is merely icing on their cake of manure. They want to take small arms away from law abiding citizens.
The one thing to always remember about a dictatorship: Disarm the citizens. Do not allow them to uprise against you. You can verify that by look at history. China, North Korea, Japan (all of which done so and the people ultimately came up with Martial Arts to defend themselves…) the U.K. (they’re currently trying to outlaw martial arts that supposedly have the capacity to kill or is deemed “Too Violent”).

It is disturbing that this man was able to enter the midnight movie showing. And then I do ask — what was so important that on a working day that these people were at a movie theater at midnight? Didn’t they have a job to go to the next day? And children at this showing at midnight? One report says a parent(s) brought a four month old to a midnight movie. I recall the crushing crowds of people at midnight hour stores opening for holiday shopping. Are people so lacking in personal wisdom to be in such places?
What a shame that those attending the midnight viewing didn’t have a conceal carry on them like the fine Florida gentleman who recently boldly defended himself, his wife, and all those at the business that was invaded by two young thugs. Imagine if these movie goers had had concealed carry rather than ending up screaming hysterically and crawling for the exit. (If you recall the Florida thugs basically said they wouldn’t have gone in if they had thought that their victims would STAND UP to them. When the old man did — they fled out the door as fast as possible, even tripping over each other.)

You say they should be harder to obtain by younger people. How young, this guy was 24. Criminals will always be able to get guns. Some of the hardest gun laws in the world are in Mexico. Gun laws dont work. Chicago has tough gun laws, yet it seems every weekend 40 people get shot.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 11:40amNO .. that is not the normal rate .. it is back up to around the rate for all of 2009 which was high .. and has the community so upset that they are going above the black leadership and calling on fellow citizens to report crime and be good witnesses. It has been mainly black on black .. however one was an oriental delivery man .. who delivered to a black gentleman in an apartment .. who’s grandson (I believe it was could have been nephew had the same last name and lived in the apartment with him) and a friend MURDERED the delivery man .. and stole the money back.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 1:00pmIt’s easy to keep your chances of being murdered in SW Florida very, very low if you simply avoid two areas: 1) The Golden Gate Estates in Naples and 2) The MLK Blvd area of Ft. Myers. (Funny how consistently the “MLK Blvd” area of ANY town is among its most dangerous areas.)
