President Obama‘s Budget Numbers Are ’Not to Be Trusted’

As many critics have noted, the president’s 2013 budget, replete with tax increases and so-called “spending cuts,” fails to close the deficit.

Some may recall that when Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) questioned Jeffrey Zients, the acting director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), during a House Budget Committee hearing, the OMB actually confessed: under the proposed plan, the budget would never be balanced.

“So much for a balanced approach,” writes Veronique de Rugy for National Review Online’s The Corner.

“This is bad news. As we know, most of the spending cuts will never materialize. Also, I suspect that the president’s plan will have a hard time delivering on the promise to increase tax collection above 19 percent of GDP as soon as 2015 and grow revenue to 20.1 percent of GDP by 2022,” de Rugy adds.

More importantly, she explains, data shows that budget numbers are “not to be trusted under any circumstances.”

Why?

Well, look at the president’s 2009 budget. You may recall that the president claimed, by 2012, his budget would cut the deficit in half. The following chart illustrates how incredibly — indeed, almost laughably — wrong the president was:

“In 2010 and 2011, the deficits were worse than projected. Not surprisingly, the further the projections, the less accurate they became. For instance, in 2009 the president promised that the deficit for 2012 would be less than $600 billion. In reality, it will be $1.3 trillion,” de Rugy writes.

“In the president’s defense, the same thing can be said about most budget predictions by previous administrations (even though the scale of the mistake is quite large). But this example goes a long way to show that the FY 2013 budget numbers are not to be trusted,” she adds.

    Obama’s budget, did he priced in, war with Iran, recession caused by greece defaulting or high gas prices, higher interest rates on treasury bonds, or very high interest rates when china stop buying our treasury bonds.

      Cain and Romney have both proposed comic book budgets that further cut taxes for millionairs and bill while raising yours to try to compensate.

      When a Republican comes out with a budget that doesn’t explode that debt and increase your taxes, please let me know. Actually, let me know if any Republican comes out with any real budget.

      I don‘t think it’s all the videos that you might want to view or download. I think it’s something else. I installed Ghostery two weeks ago to block the advertising and other junk and experienced a major slow down. Had to uninstall and reinstall it tonight. Lost my Internet connection this morning. Have you heard anything about the FBI shutting down the Internet on March 8th to get rid of a nasty Internet virus? Keep in touch my friend.

      Well, if you call doubling down the National debt, then yes, he has bankrupt us. Don’t think so?…If you owed a debt and the debtor requested the pmt now and you could not pay it back, guess what?…You are bankrupt. Game over.

      Our President has put us in a position that could cost the country dearly. Like sheep, you will continue to pledge for him, but as Europe goes, so will the US. We are sinking friend. Sad but true. Open your eyes and heart.

      When someone calls the President of the United States a vile, Marxist, POS, I’d keep my eye on that person. Sure you have the right to say those things…and law enforcement has the right to keep their eye on you because of you outrageous remarks.

      And, yes…I have read remarks on this board quite regularly that call for violence in response to the policies of the President of the United States. And, quite frankly, it is pretty shocking…

Yes, he is OUR President, and yes, we do need to show respect…to the POSITION, not the MAN!…The Presidency is a position of power and respect. Obama is not the man you guys turned out to be…or maybe he is. Heck, whatever.

      Bottom line is, if I had a nickel for everytime someone held up a picture or sign with Bush’s head lopped off, I could pay off Obamacare myself.

      Your side is far more worse my friend. Again, be responsible. Own up for your failure of a Presidency.

      Today I was incensed at the conclusion of a traditional Serbian-Orthodox funeral for my beloved 85-year-old uncle, Daniel Martich, who proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. During the committal service at a Pittsburgh cemetery the local military detachment performed their ritual, then folded and presented the American Flag to my aunt.

      As I’m sure you have witnessed during military funerals, a soldier bends to one knee and recites a scripted message to a surviving relative that begins ‘On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, I wish to present you with this flag in appreciation for your husband’s service …’ However, today the dialogue was ‘On behalf of the Secretary of Defense and a grateful nation…’

      After the service, I approached the soldier who presented the flag to my aunt to inquire about the change in language. His response was: “The White House notified all military funeral service detachments to immediately remove ‘the President’ and insert ‘the Secretary of Defense’.

      I couldn’t believe what I heard! The soldier just smiled and said, “You can draw your own conclusion, Sir, but that was the order”. He, too, was ashamed of what he was required to say. Obama has taken off the gloves. My only response to this endless cesspool of anti-American rhetoric dripping from his mouth is to borrow a phrase “with one minor change” uttered by another temporary Washington resident living in government housing (his wife!): “Today for the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of the current U.S. President!”

      I did not serve in the military but my love of country parallels that of people like my late uncle who bled red, white and blue. As a second generation Serbian-American who’s heritage produced many patriotic military men and women who fought for freedom both in the United States as well as in the former Yugoslavia (most recently in Kosovo against the slaughter of Serbs by Muslim extremists), I implore you to make the American people aware of this little-known or, at least, publicly acknowledged fact.
      May God Bless you and your family during these difficult times. Your voice of reason is a welcome change from the insanity plastered across the country by the liberal media. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service to our country.
