Cops Reveal Moment Shooter Opened Fire on Officer 8-9 Times (Plus Other Details from Sikh Shooting Presser)

In a comprehensive press conference this morning from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, law enforcement officials shared new details about Sunday’s shooting at a Sikh temple. While few new revelations were given surrounding Wade Michael Page, the suspected gunman, authorities did provide details about the crime’s timeline, the gun utilized, an unnamed person of interest and the victims involved.

(Related: Authorities Identify Sikh Temple Shooter as Army Vet)

“In my mind they’re all heroes,” Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards said of his fellow officers during the press conference. “They did exactly what was expected of them.”

Edwards claims that the officers, through their brave actions, prevented more intense tragedy from unfolding in and around the temple. They “stopped a worse tragedy from happening by their actions,” he maintained.

Perhaps the biggest revelation was that, while police claim there was only one gunman, an unnamed person of interest is being sought. FBI Milwaukee Special Agent Teresa Carlson encouraged people who have seen the individual to call a police tip line (his image is below). According to witnesses, the supposedly-suspicious individual was on the scene following the incident.

Presser Reveals New Details About Sikh Shooting in Wisconsin

OAK CREEK - AUGUST 6: FBI special agent in charge, Teresa Carlson holds a photograph of a subject that the FBI wants to interview and is asking for any information as she speaks at a press conference on the shooting at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin where yesterday a gunman fired upon people at service August, 6, 2012 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. At least six people were killed when the shooter identified as Wade Michael Page opened fire on congregants in the Milwaukee suburb. The suspect who was a United States Army veteran was shot dead in a shootout with police. (Credit: Getty Images)

Among the details given, Edwards spoke about Lt. Brian Murphy, 51, a 21-year veteran officer who was shot eight or nine times with a handgun during the incident. Currently, Murphy is listed in critical condition.

He said Murphy was the first officer to respond to the scene and was “ambushed” when he went to help a victim lying on the ground. The shooter opened fire hitting him in his extremities and in the neck. When other officers arrived shortly after, the shooter then turned the gun toward them and shot out the windows of multiple police cruisers. One of those officers then returned fire with this rifle and took the shooter “down.”

Despite his injuries, Murphy then instructed his fellow officers to enter the temple, Edwards said. But protocol dictated that those officers bring Murphy to safety, which they did.

UNSPECIFIED DATE & LOCATION: In this handout provided by the Oak Creek Police Department, Oak Creek Police Lt. Brian Murphy who was shot mulitple times by suspect Wade Michael Page at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, Wisconsin poses for a photograph on an unspecifed date and location. At least six people were killed when the shooter, identified as Wade Michael Page, opened fire on congregants in the Milwaukee suburb. The police chief went on to share the names, genders and ages of the victims involved in the shooting. In order to respect the proper pronunciation of those killed, a member of the Sikh community came up to the podium to read information about them.

Aside from sharing Page’s birthdate — November 1, 1971 — new details about the alleged perpetrator were not readily given.

“We can say that he was in the military 1992 to 1998. He had a general discharge and that he was ineligible for reenlistment,” Edwards added.

According to officials, there was no reason to believe that Page would have been capable of such a crime. Prior to the incident, there were no open law enforcement files creating concern for viable threats.

While authorities have information about at least one of the guns that was used in the crime, they were reluctant to go in-depth. During the presser, however, they described the weapon as “a 9mm handgun utilizing multiple ammunition magazines.” It was purchased legally, officials claim.

This guy was obviously a Tea Party member, but I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere. Is the MSM slipping? And the 2nd Amendment is there for the main reason of self-defense and personal preservation. It matters not whether or not you have a license for a concealed weapon – you have a God-given right to protect yourself and your family, with deadly force if necessary.

He’s obviously a Tea Party member? Where do you get that idea? From the prejudices you were taught by believing the Leftist propaganda? Did he call for lower taxes, smaller government, less regulations, and less wasteful spending? He doesn’t seem like he type of person that would care about those things. It seems his mind is focused somewhere else. If he is a Tea Party member, he only joined because he relished the divisive propaganda that dishonest Liberal hate mongers dished out. Where does he call for any Tea Party principles? Show us one.

This has false flag written all over it. Just one more incident that they will use to try and pass AWB 2 and sign and ratify the UN Small Arms Treaty.

      This is Government Sponsored Terror.

Witnesses said that there were multiple shooters! Just like the Aurora shooting, the media is making it seam that the investiagation is complete, and it is an angry white male. So the solution they have is gun control…

The biggest terrot threat is our rouge government. Not all but factions of it, and they seem to get away with it.

For all who think he was a Tea Party member, he was not! From WND their saying he has ties to the Neo Nazi party! But like I said yesterday, the left is going to do everything they can to get rid of the 2nd amendment! They will stop at nothing to Blame everything on the right and the Conservative Tea Party! And yet somehow the Left never takes blame for anything, including the new black pather party or for obama creating massive debt, or their ties to code pink, the muslims, and the Floatilla! And yet they still blame the Tea Party and Our rights to bear Arms! Do you see how the gun or guns were not AK’s or M16s or anything like that, but you can bet your life they’re going after them all! But If someone were to say, well if the Sikh’s would have had guns, they could have defended themselves; but NO, we’ll blame the Tea Party! You can tell its just like the radical left Blaming and saying the Sikh’s were tied to muslims and thats why this happened. Yet they have no clue, they didn’t even realize they not even muslims! Yet we are to Blame! Why? “never let a tragedy go to waste, when we can use it to take away the rights of America!…..

Well said, except that these operations started before Obama took office as we see with Fast and Furious, so don’t think for a second that if we get rid of Obama, that the problem is solved. The only terror I fear, is the terror we could see from a tyrannical government here, and our government has been moving towards total control for some time. But when Bush was in, I did not complain when he started the TSA, Homeland Security, Patriot Act, so they can track all the people that watch TheBlaze, this all the while leaving the borders wide open?

So as bad/ evil as Obama is, this has been in the making before he took office, so it is a problem bigger than him..

Yes he’s down sizing, with troops and weapons; why would he want that? Lets just say, its allor easyer to have some other country take over if we have no military or cant defend ourselves! To whatever degree this shooter was a Nazi, to that degree he was unwelcome and unwanted amongst Tea Party folk; to the same degree that the collectivist communists are unwanted. Yet you sit there, stupid and self righteous, condemning those who support the Constitution and its ideals–the ONLY way to actually overcome the primitive collective hatreds you and your ilk work to actively foster in OUR land. Traitors against the Constitution and Liberty like YOU support “hate crime” legislation that denies equal protection under the law; Traitors against the Constitution and Liberty like YOU DEMAND that incoming peoples into this land retain first and foremost their native language, in order to divide and preserve that division; Traitors like YOU DEMAND that American History take a second row to the tribalistic history of alien nations all, and that historic grievances be preserved and nurtured into blood libels. But what else can we conclude? Well for certain he was anti-immigrant. Check. For sure as a neo-Nazi he hated Jews like Francis Scott Piven, Saul Alynski and George Soros. Check. Of course as a neo-Nazi he would hate gays and lesbians. Check. We can be certain he hated Muslims or members of other religions he viewed an “un-American.” Check. It could be mental illness, but it seems his motivation was hate. White supremacists, the New Black Panthers, the Muslim terrorists, La Raza, the Westboro nuts… they’re all taught to hate people who are unlike themselves. I see no ties to the Tea Party in any of these groups, but I do see ties to Democrats in all but Westboro.
White supremacists seem to be whites brainwashed by the KKK. Who started the KKK? If I recall correctly, Democrats created the KKK just after they lost the civil war. They may have been rejected by modern Democrats, but they are not welcomed into any party.
The New Black Panthers seem to be nothing more than a counter group of the white supremacists. They are welcomed as Democrats.
La Raza are a group of hateful Mexicans. What drives them to hate? I have no idea, but they are also welcomed as Democrats.
Muslim terrorists. Democrats are trying to get them as another voting bloc.
I don’t like either party, but it appears that the Democrats have the bulk of hate groups. Politicians and media stirring up the hatred… all for the sake of persuading voters and even future voters. It‘s pure evil and it’s probably why George Washington believed that the party system would be the death of us.

You see, the snowman does not worry about things like “keeping the minorities down” or “hating” people. We are perfectly capable of thriving on our own. We don’t need to knock the other guy down in order to make ourselves appear to be a more attractive alternative. We don’t have local, state, federal agencies looking out for us. We have just the opposite. We are villified and demonized almost like the Jews were in the 1930s-made out to be the enemy. And, like in the case of the Jews, we are not the bad guys at all. 95% of this “the white guy hates minorities” crap is a lie. All this business about us “hating” minorities is a myth. And we still kick ass and take names. We don’t need to hate to get ahead. We perform and earn every fricking nickel we get. Just because this guy served in the Army for a few years a decade ago doesn’t mean that made him a psycho killer. Why don’t the media focus on what he did for the last ten years of his life rather than being veteran? He didn’t even have an honorable discharge. The “Army Vet” angle provides the “proof” of the threat that Veterans pose as potential domestic terrorism, as espoused by our progressive-statist top law enforcement officer, Janet “Big Sis” Napalatono, in 2009:

“ the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks”.

“Pay no attention” to the fact that this sociopath was simple a malcontent who did not spend any time in combat; the progressive-statists have all the “proof” they need now to add “military veteran” to this list of characteristics which the Federal Fusion Centers utilize to analyze an individuals “Threat Level”:

      * Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
      * Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
      * Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots” and “One Second After” are mentioned by name)
      * Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
      * Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
      * Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
      * Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government Homeschooling
      * Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
      * Belief in a New World Order conspiracy

Where do you stand on that list?

SanDiegoCountyCitizen / RangerP….Yeah, I also match most of that list…As do alot of LDS folks I know. Given DHS’s logic, I suppose that means the vast majority of Mormons are potential terrorists? Most have cached food stores for a year. Hold conservative views, believe in the end times, many are gun enthusiasts, hunt, have prior military experience, etc. Wow, a new security threat group…who’da thunk it.

That is the most ridiculous criteria I have ever seen, and that makes it all the more believable. Everyone of the SDCC’s bullet points is constitutionally protected, so basically, if you take legal advantage of your rights, you are a potential extremist…Yet, if you vandalize property, crap on cop cars, disrupt businesses, block workers from getting to jobs, trespass for extended periods of time, refuse lawful orders to disperse, injure police officers, riot, block polling places, threaten to kill “white babies” etc, you are not an extremist but a HERO to this administration. Well-reasoned. Ties in with the Justice Department‘s refusal to prosecute New Black Panther’s at polling station too. Selective, PC branding of violent events in the homeland.

You can tell that the hippy Libs have nearly universal control over government. They own the courts. They own the schools and universities. They own Congress. They own the Federal Executive branch.

The few brave souls who fight on also have the courage to identify with the Tea Party. So many in the middle waffle and hide behind the curtains, only emerging once it is “safe”. To hell with you I say. The timid and weak deserve their shame.

This is full on battle now. Not (for the most part) with arms, but with courage. Courage to stand up and oppose those who drift, lean or wade in the marxist ways. Do NOT give quarter to marxists. Firmly confront them at every turn. When you do so, people are watching. Impressionable young people. Weak, timid people. You can build confidence in those who are weaker.

some facts the libs never want you to know.

Of murders in the US, the “assault rifle” is used less than 3% of the time.

Switzerland has the lowest murder per capita rate, and every house has an assault rifle and ammunition

Blacks make up 12% of the population and commit 50% of the murders (they generally kill other blacks). If we could lower the black murder rate to equal that of whites, we would drop the nations murder rate by 32%, become a nation with one of the lowest murder rates in the world, and save the lives of tens of thousands of black males every year. To do this, we would have to talk welfare, and libs are not about to go that route.

Accidental gun deaths are about 1% of the nations accidental deaths per year, It is about equal to deaths by dog bit, and a bit behind deaths from bug bites.

Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in America, and has one of the highest murder per capita rates (once again, most of those getting shot and killed are black Americans)

Unfortunately, my conspiracy obsessed friend, there are plenty of sociopathic and psychopathic individuals among us to provide poster child fodder for the progressive-statists in their march to enslave us, No need for “mind control”.

While there is a place for critical “what-if” scenario analysis to figure out complex facts and motivations, a highly covert domestic mind control programs by federal operatives IS NOT a viable answer in this case.

Uh Oh, this makes things a little tough for the libs.

Every time there is a shooting, libs jump out front, try to depict the shooter as some sort of Tea Party, conservative gone mad. They want folks to think the shooter is an NRA member, goes to Baptist church, hunts, fishes, does competitive target shooting, votes republican, drives a pick-up truck, and so on. Time and time again, they are proved false, and more often than not, the shooter is just plain psycho, or has left leaning ties.

This dude was the head of a heavy metal rock band that was into white supremacy sort of music. You will notice that the Tea Party, NRA, Baptists, and conservatives have no ties or use for these white supremacy crowd. You will find that the white supremacy crowd shares much more in common with anarchist and OWS, than anything Tea Party.

Here is the part that will make the libs shut their mouths, leave this one alone, and move on. The whole tie to violent racist music is the key. Libs would love to spout about this music, but they dare not mutter a peep. To do so, would open up discussion about the violent gangster rap music that is so popular in their base of voters. While the white racist music does exist, it is not near as popular nor is it pushed by MTV like the violent rap music.

Once again, the libs are left with no one to point a finger at, and thus they will have to move on, or try to spin some sort of lie on all of this.

Following the Colorado shooting one of the first comments I heard from the MSM was there was a military base near by, probably hoping that it was a military member who returned recently from a deployment. I guess the MSM is hoping to pin this on the military and that PTSD is creating a bunch of crazy killers, sorry this guy was just a crazy and it had nothing to do with him being a veteran.

As far a bringing a gun into a place of worship, please see my comment to ROGIE. For the shooting in CO, do we know if the movie theatre has/doesnt have a sign out front saying; “No fire arms allowed!”? Without an answer to that question, we dont know if guns werent taken, or left in the car. Without knowing if there is a sign or not (doesnt need to be a sign. Just needs a policy of no guns.), we cannot say that guns would have/would have not been in the facility. Usually people who carry guns, are respectable and will respect the establishments they visit. I know I carry.

Nazis, socialist, Marxist and fascist are more government thus left wing. To the right is less government. Neo-Nazis vote with the left and loved FDR’s segregation policies. The left always segregates using more stringent government dividing people into little minority groups, controlling what they do and think like the Obama administration. the put American against American. Favoring one group when they speak to them then favoring the other the next time. Putting more favor for their own personal gain and never for the Great American Melting Pot. @70, Fascism is on the far right of the political spectrum. The Nazi‘s weren’t socialist they just called themselves that, they were in fact as you pointed out fascists. Hate groups and hate militias in this country are usually on the far right of the political spectrum. That is not to say that people who are in the tea party or consider themselves right wing are fascists are in hate groups or sympathize with those individuals, just as liberals are not communist just because communism is on the far left of the political spectrum. I can’t imagine how you could have maintained a 4.0 in a political science course believing that fascism is a leftist ideology. In World War II if fascism is in fact a leftist ideology why did Hitler align with Mussolini and Franco instead of Stalin?

The progs and commies are doing a number on religion in the USA. Have you been asleep? Typical commie rhetoric you spew on a daily basis here on the blaze.

Conservative Beckhater – right, just like the English, Dutch and Spanish assimulated to the Native American way-of-life when they first come here. Diversity is what makes America the great nation she is!

voxpimply, people used to emigrate to the USA and try to fit in by adopting western dress and customs. It works better than moving here to reap the benefits but refusing to become westernized and setting up your own subculture. Sooner or later we’re going to lose our identity as a nation and turn into fractured, divided failure of a country, like so many nations in Europe are. Funny how leftists like yourself are fine with the destruction of western civilzation. A lot of Americanst still aren’t.

Yes we did, but until this eastern religion push came, everyone got a long. There is just something about these peaceful eastern religions, they never turn out to be so peaceful, Gandhi, sided with Hitler, the Muslims sided with Hither, come to think of it, Hitler was obsessed with all the eastern religions, and they all seemed intrigued by him.

@Swampy I wouldn’t consider something to come out of Arabia to be eastern. While not by the Arabs, the middle east was the original center of world civilization, and we owe the fact that we are so advanced to early advancements made by the Mesopotamian cultures. That being said most of the eastern religions are mostly peaceful (there are instances of that being untrue), and though pagan and mystical, will not have anyone going around with a bomb under their vest ready to blow people up in the name of their pagan idol. Also, you probably think that Islam came from Arabic paganism, but the archaeological evidence says otherwise. The only mentioning of Muhammad within 50 years of his life said that there was a prophet who claimed to hold the Keys of Heaven. Also Islamic coins had crosses on them, then crosses and moons, and finally just moons. This points towards Islam starting as an arian (not aryan, just in case you don’t know what arianism is) papist sect that, because of its oral rather than written nature, inherited so many ideals from Arabic paganism that it is a completely different religion now.

I know a few Indian’s and they are very nice and respectful people. The Muslim’s hate these people about as much as the hate america. all the Indians I have met love and support America. This is so sad that this happened to them.

This is sad when it happens to anyone. It is also sad when a government cannot or will not protect its citizenry from such attacks. I’m not sure a federal agency should be handling this case in light of a possible conflict of interest on the part of the DOJ.

      @GBO
The government cannot, and is not responsible under the social contract, to protect us from individual criminals. That is each and every citizens individuals own responsibility. Looking to government for such unobtainable goals and related false promises will lead us down the road of serfdom and enslavement… take it from a disarmed serf in California!
