Priebus Stands by Rep. West After Comments That Obama Creates Economic ‘Slaves’

Florida Rep. Allen West has found himself in controversy once again following unorthodox political remarks during a campaign speech in Fort Saint Lucie Tuesday.
ABC News reports that Rep. West slammed President Obama using the word “slave” while emphasizing the importance of lowering taxes, minimizing regulations on business and bringing jobs back to the region.
“Self-esteem comes from doing esteemable things. Sitting at home and getting a check from the government is not going to help your self-esteem. What it will do is make you an economic slave to people living in a far, far, distant place,” West said on Sunday.
“He does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning and having that title of ‘American,’” the congressman said of the president. “He’d rather you be his slave and be economically dependent upon him.”
When pressed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN to account for the Congressman’s remarks, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus pushed back, pointing out that he is not the “police officer” of the GOP and said he would not ”throw Allen West in a ditch.” POLITICO reports on the exchange:
“Barack Obama’s the one that put out this ‘Life of Julia’ website. I think we all know what that is. It’s a life of a girl from preschool to, I think, death or near death showing how every step of her life — “
“Is she a slave?” Blitzer interrupted.
Priebus shot back, “You know what? Listen, it’s semantics.”
But before he could finish, Blitzer once again cut in, saying, “I deplore that kind of language when a Democrat says it or a Republican. We shouldn’t be talking like this. It’s bad enough, the lack of civility in our politics.”
Still, the RNC chairman continued to defend West.
“One, Allen West is one of the most dynamic new Republican stars in our party. … He’s got a bright future,” he said. “What I’m more embarrassed about is the president that can’t keep a promise, that has an American economy that’s in the ditch, that somehow is trying to perpetrate some myth to the American people that he’s not to blame or has no role in where we are in the American economy.”
Rep.West has previously described the President of the United States as a “coddler-in-chief,” and once called Democratic colleague from Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz “vile, despicable and cowardly,”

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 9:14pmIt‘s a good sign that Priebus didn’t just drop his pants, bend over, and beg for it like girl from Wolf Blitzer. At least he gave appearances. Maybe he just winked at Wolfe and told him he’d let him have his way later, but since it’s an election year, he must again pretend to be a conservative. Point is, whatever Priebus does, he’s simply another of the politically amoral RNC Washington Insider Elites that has to pretend to be something they are definitely not, i.e., conservatives. He’s not even that good a pretending.
We’re on to the game, Mr. Priebus, and your kind is just a different form of cancer on America, albeit one that kills us slower than the Democratic kind. You, and Blitzer, will be made irrelevant. Mr. West, on the other hand, should one day be prepared for a single stroke mass exodus to go the third way; post Republican and Democrat. Only time will tell if Mr. West is more than just playing the bad-dog for the base, given the state of Americans repeatedly betrayed by other so-called “conservatives”. John Robert’s anyone? What will Mr. West really do to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic? Insult Democrats?

Posted on July 5, 2012 at 12:52pmFunny how the left uses the WORD to create an issue rather than the issue itself. If you are on welfare you live, in comparison to the rest of working America, a pretty crappy life. Month to month subsistence in substandard housing. You don’t have to work for it, true but you will NEVER live the dream. In this sense they are in servitude, in exchange for their vote they continue their crappy little lives and their sons end up dead or in prison and their daughters follow along with several kids each by a different “baby daddy”. Which is worse Wolf, looking the issue in the face and calling it what it is or the “word”. Wolf you are an active participant in continuing the status quo for these people. What they need is to be incentivized to get some training and learn that they have options. Two quick ways, if you are enrolled in welfare you must be enrolled in GED then vocational training AND spend 20 hours a week in local community improvement projects (mowing the local park, shoveling snow, painting public housing, working at the local food bank, teaching kids to read, supervising fitness activities for children or picking up cigarette butts). That is the route that will help them become independent and take some pride in themselves.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:42pmRealistically, I have hopes of Col West being VP. The reason Wolf Blitzer has to dance around Allen West is the ‘race card’, which is why he would level the playing field in the presidential race. I get sick of hearing how Rubio must run to get the Hispanic vote when we need to challange “apples to apples” for the African American vote. Actually, I hate the game-playing of both, like most Hispanics and African-Americans are so stupid they don’t know they are being played, but that seems to be the way the game is played. As a Floridian I respect both men and know either would do a great job. Ditching Bill Nelson and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is also high on the “to do” list.

Say what?
The SCOTUS ruled that the legislation was constitutional ONLY due to the fact that Congress has the power to levy taxes and this Obamacare WAS IN FACT A TAX! Did we want SCOTUS to declare the bill unconstitutional? Of course; but, that’s not what happened. So, why not make lemonade out of lemons?

They aren’t forcing us to eat or not eat anything. And I am not an Obama fan, just trying to be fair. She is actually right. We are making our kids sick and we ought to take responsibility for making sure they grow up healthy. I thought Republicans believed in taking responsibility. Why do they get so mad when someone calls them out and asks them to do it for the good of their kids?
The government does have a big effect on what we eat, however. They heavily subsidize the corn industry which becomes the basis for all the super cheap junk food and soda we consume. They make it much cheaper to eat an unhealthy diet. If they are going to be subsidizing anything, it should be healthy food.
