Priest‘s New Spoken Word Vid Targets Obama’s Contraceptive Mandate: ‘A Threat to Our Country’s Foundation’

Remember Fr. Pontifex, the successful hip-hop artist who responded to Jefferson Bethke’s “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus” phenomenon (we profiled him in February)?  He’s back with a new, freedom-filled spoken-word video. In the clip, entitled “We Hold These Truths,” the faith leader stands up for religious freedom and rails against the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate.

Fr. Pontifexs New Spoken Word Vid Targets Obamas Contraceptive Mandate

“At this time in America we’ve come to the crossroads, standing with our religious freedom and what we have been told,” Fr. Pontifex proclaims in the video. “God almighty in Heaven, greater than any legislature, No system, No policy, No mandate has the power.”

The video goes on to rail against the administration’s controversial regulation that Fr. Pontifex believes tramples on religious peoples’ conscience rights. Additionally, he says the mandate is dangerous to all Americans — not just those who consider themselves aligned with the Catholic Church.

Fr. Pontifexs New Spoken Word Vid Targets Obamas Contraceptive Mandate

“A Year to comply? A Year to deny? A Year to turn the other way and let our conscience die?,” he continues. “Every American should see this as a threat to our country’s foundation, Religion doesn’t make us second class, settling for an accommodation.”

Watch the video, which was produced by Spirit Juice Studios, below:

Here’s a behind-the-scenes clip as well:

There WILL be a Day of Reckoning, dear people. You WILL reap what you sow.
If you’ve been complacent, you will reap slavery in some form or another. I believe this man has said it really well. Obama is a DICTATOR-WANNABE and he is doing a really good job of getting there, THANKS TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. However, I truly believe, we can still turn things around thru concensus and stepping up and being counted – USE THAT VOTE AND THAT VOICE to make your opinion heard. DO NOT BE COMPLACENT anymore.

If that liberal progressive starts in on your, do 1 of 2 things, walk away, or smile and tell him you are not taking his crap anymore. That’s all. It will make them angry, but so what. They are already angry. STOP COMPLYING TO EVERYTHING THESE UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE WANT. Ask God for His guidance and wisdom and He will guide you. VOTE, STAY IN CONTACT WITH YOUR POLITICIANS, AND GET INVOLVED. If you do not, YOU ARE AT FAULT.

UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED, WE WILL FALL. Try to get people united as a FREE REPUBLIC. Ask them if you can have their stuff and see what they say. I asked a liberal friend of mine, when I visited his house, if he would give me his new LED TV. He said no. I asked him why not. He said he paid for it. I said, EXACTLY. So, why should I give you my stuff? HE FELL ALL OVER HIMSELF. See, they want control over you and your stuff, but they don’t want you to touch their stuff. I got news for them……….

As a REAL American, I am appalled by the total capitulation on the part of the US Congress to the Obama regime and it’s trampling upon our United States Constitution. That said, I read with a touch of humor all the self-righteous indignation presently being expressed by the Catholic Church. Let’s take a quick peak back into history. During the 2008 National campaign, the Church was all too quick to anoint Obama as the next savior and openly promoted his ascendency to the “throne” . Then we look at the open, and unquestionably illegal act, support of Obamacare. The Catholic Church was almost breathlessly campaigning for the passage of that piece of garbage. As Nancy Pelosi said, pass this bill, THEN you find out what’s in it. Well, now that it’s the law of the land, and we are finding out what’s in it, suddenly the Catholic Church is apoplectic, now that they know that Obamacare denies Religious freedom. Oh, now comes their outraged protest. A wise sage once said “too little, too late”.

All I can say to the Catholics of the land, ever heard this bible passage “You reap what you sow”.

When you say “the catholic church” annointed Obama you must have been attending a parish that I am not aware of. In my church the priest gave several homilies stating the churches teachings on life issues and encouraging people to vote pro-life. The very catholics you say voted for him are like the liberal christians in every denomination that did the same. Don’t blame THIS catholic for his being in office or the priest at my church or the myriads of catholics who voted for life. Don’t typecast it is really unbecoming.

The Catholic Church in general, not all, was duped by the left, especially by that pivotal Catholic Democratic ex-Congessman, who was duped by the president, over abortion inclusion in the healthcare bill. The Church has been way to chummy with the Democrats on social justice issues. The proverbial curtain has been pulled back on the left’s nefarious ends by overtly compassionate means. It’s time now for the house of God, of all faiths and denominations, to define the separation of church and state when it come to social justice issues. When the gravy train from the government ends, we’ll truly see how strong the faithful are.

The issue of the government mandate on contraception has nothing to do with birth control or women’s rights (the smokescreen) and everything to do with an attack on the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. This is a matter of faith and Church doctrine that is not open to compromise and still being faithful.
I am not a Catholic, but I stand with the Church and their rights under Amendment 1 of the Constitution.

“98% of Obama Supporters Do Not Understand Statistics”

“The Lie: The Obama administration said, “…most women, including 98 percent of Catholic women, have used contraception.”
The Truth: According to their own study it can only legitimately claim: “at least 24 percent of Catholic women have used contraception”.

The study that the Obama administration is citing is from the Guttmacher Institute (source). The Guttmacher Institute was founded by Planned Parenthood, and takes it’s name from a former Planned Parenthood president (source). Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of contraception and abortion in this country. They have a vested interest in making the HHS Mandate come to fruition.”

The REAL POINT is this: it is none of the government’s business, statistics or not, what a woman does with her body. She will have to answer to God for this – not the church, not the government. Therefore, the government has NO RIGHT UNDER THE CURRENT CONSTITUTION (I say current BECAUSE I see Obama paving the way to change our Constitution) to FORCE OR MANDATE things that God gave us FREE WILL over. …..CHOICES over our bodies and our souls….

I cannot wait until Judgement Day when all the abortionists and progressives who do not believe in the sanctity of life and free-will, stand before the Almighty. They don’t GET IT now, BUT, THEY WILL THEN. I want to be there, but sad to say, I will be walking with Jesus instead as Christians WILL NOT HAVE A JUDGEMENT DAY – only a REWARDS DAY. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, therefore, we have already been judged for those crimes against God. If we continue to serve HIM and only HIM, then ONLY WHAT WE DO FOR HIM (GOD) WILL BE REWARDED. TRUE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST will never stand at Judgement Day. So, I guess, as it is NOW, I won’t see Obama and his anti-God people.

GOD IS NOT MOCKED. HE IS SLOW TO ANGER AND VERY COMPASSIONATE, BUT HIS WORD IS TRUE. If you do not know God, YOU WILL STAND IN JUDGEMENT BEFORE HIM.

    Simple solution.
    1. On Monday shut down all Catholic schools and send all students to the nearest public school for education.
    2. On Tuesday shut down all Catholic hospitals and send all patients to the nearest hospitals for care.
    3. On Wednesday shut down all Catholis charties and tell those in need to go to their nearest public assistance office.
    4. On Thursday the President says Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
    5. On Friday the country forgives and returns to normal, but will never forget the incredible insult .
    6. In November the devil is sent packing.

They are Catholics in Name Only—-our version of RINO, CINO’s —-it‘s time for Nancy Pelosi’s Bishop to excommunicate her in that she is openly hostile to not only Catholic basic positions, but all people of good will’s position. She deserves to be excommunicate and may have actually already incurred one by pushing Abortion and “formally cooperating” in this intrinsically evil act—-that involves a “latae sententia” (automatic) excommunication! This assumes that she knows that is the penalty for her formal cooperation in this heinous act! Her bishop should so apprise her!

If only catholics would get their heads out of the popes hind quarters, place tradition on the trash heap where it belongs and read the Bible (and not some catholized perversion) they would find out how far away from the Creator they really are. There is nothing nothing beautiful about the pomp and worldly finery of the catholic church; in fact it’s a travesty of all that Christ preached. Why do catholics elevate Christ’s mother, Mary to the position of the queen of heaven? Where is that position in the Bible? If you read a real Bible (again not some perverted version that the jesuits have corrupted) you will find that the queen of heaven is an abomination to God. Mary was a virgin until after she gave birth to Christ after that she gave birth to his brothers and sisters. She died and was buried here on earth and was not taken up into heaven as Christ was. Why does the catholic church say that none can be saved except through her offices? That’s straight out of the mouth of hell. The catholic church is not Christ and does not represent him. The pope is just a man dressed up in gaudy clothes. Sure Peter was given two keys but he used one when he opened to the Jews the plan of salvation and the other when he opened to the gentiles the plan of salvation. Peter never went to Rome. The Rock on which God’s church was founded is the ROCK of Christ and the confession of faith by Peter. If you take government money you have to play by their rules. Suck it up.

Your bigotry is showing and where in the Bible does it say that the Bible alone is the sole rule of faith!
Nowhere! In fact St. Paul says to hold fast to what we have taught you in word and letter. Moreover the Bible CAME from the Catholic Church in 393 and 397 AD at the Councils of Hippo and Council of Carthage. The Catholic Church is the Mother of the Bible, not its daughter. And Mary was ever virgin before, and after the birth of Jesus—-your lack of knowledge of Biblical languages is obvious—-there was no word for Cousin in the Aramaic language that‘s why Lot was referred to as Abraham’s brother, instead of Abraham’s nephew (which he was in reality). Plus, how many Bibles do you think were floating around when they were all handwritten before the printing press invention in the 15th Century—-so did Jesus abandon 15 centuries of Christians. No where in the Bible does Jesus instruct the Apostles to “go write a book”. He authorized them to go forth and proclaim the Gospel in His name and with His authority—–that’s called Sacred Tradition. Besides, were Jesus’ teachings only for the educated—the literate?—those who could read? That cut out about half the world’s population at His time. That early Christian Church was already calling itself Catholic in 107 AD by St. Ignatius of Antioch—to distinguish it from those heretics who tried to pervert Christ’s message. Maybe you should study more—read the early Church Fathers, and you’ll find them very Cath

As a Catholic I am more impressed with the “Born Again” and the Evangelical support than I have seen from our own Church. It is good to see the Bishops taking a firm stand and I only wish that they would declare from the pulpits that Obama is an enemy to all people of faith except the Muslims. And that Obama needs to be stopped from violating the first Amendment. If he gets this one through, can you imagine the harm he will do to all religious people if he wins reelection and continues to transform our nation into his totally secular dream! This is a radical who hates our nation, hates our religious roots, and intends to trample the constitution in his “in your face” Chicago style of politics!
The Catholics, who were able to tangle the Bishops’ words put this clown into office by giving him 54% of the vote. It is our Evangelical brothers and sisters who have stuck to their guns and stood up against him. So let us put aside our theological differences to fight a common enemy who would wipe out any semblance of a Christian society—creating his secular Utopia. As it says in Peter, we must obey God, not men.

A million women across America take birth control pills for non-contraceptive reasons. Many women of all faiths, economic, and marital status use hormonal contraceptives. There is no problem with the insurance coverage of Viagra and other impotence drugs for men. There are no protests in front of urology clinics, men can get vasectomies without having to run a gaunlet of angry protesters. No one smears their character if they buy condoms. But there are forces at work in this country right now that want to make hormonal contraceptives illegal by passing “personhood amendments” into their state laws. And they want to substitute the individual conscience of employees with the moral stances of their employers. As a devout Catholic, I disagree with the good Father. This is not an attack on faith, this is an attack on women. If birth control pills were just considered medicine and covered as such by insurance companies, there would be no issue here. As it is, a bunch of celebate men are screaming that their religious liberty is endangered because they are trying to refuse to cover medical care for women employees who may or may not be Catholic. You hear a lot of men cluck-clucking on this issue, but where are the women’s voices? Why is it okay to pay for maternity leave (as we should) but refuse to pay for contraception? Where is the freedom for that woman, that family to decide when and how many children they will have? What if it isn’t against their religion?

The point is, if a woman wants to use birth control no one is stopping her. The Church should NOT be FORCED to pay for it. That is where the TRUE seperation of Church and State comes in, not taking down a Christmas Tree and it is being trampled on by the pres. What is it in that statement you don’t understand? The healthcare bill is UNCONSTITUTIONAL in the first place. It was passed as law as if this were a socialist country. No one wants it, but it was FORCED on us. Having something FORCED on you means you have no FREEDOM to reject it.. If a woman wants to use contraceptives she should pay for it herself, no one else, especially the Church who considers it a sin.

You are not and have never been a “good catholic”! You may profess to be a catholic but a good catholic does not pick and chose which church mandates/doctrines they will follow, which sins are OK despite what the scriptures teach. What makes maters even worst is your complete ignorance of the Constitutions and the Bill of Rights! Please read them before you spout your Planed Parenthood talking points, this fight is ALL about our God Given Freedoms and the path to slavery that this liberal socialist administration has all of us on.

Very short sighted in your comments. It‘s definitely a matter of freedom of religion not women’s rights! Even if you’re not using the pill for contraception, the cost is not prohibitive and where it is difficult to afford for medical purposes then there is help from many other sources. Any woman who comes begging at the government door whining the way Ms Fluke did is a disgrace to all the independence and self-sufficiency that mothers like mine taught their daughters!!! I am incensed by women like you who have the audacity to feel that because you want something free, the rest of us ought to give it to you. I don‘t give a rat’s rear about what they give men because that comparison takes away from the main concern of this whole issue. The real issue is freedom from the government mandating citizens doing something that is against their religious conscience. The Founders fled their countries of birth in order to be free from the government dictates only to have people like you trample the liberty they sought for and enshrined in the Constitution. Stop being a baby and stand with real women.

With all due respect, viagra treats a medical dysfunction and has nothing to do with birth control much like hormone replacement therapy treats women who are experiencing symptoms that interfere with the normal function of their bodies. Women can have their tubes tied, no one smears anyone’s character because they buy condoms, diaphragms, iuds, or birth control pills, and women can even get free birthcontrol in every major American city. And frankly, from your post, you may consider yourself a devout Catholic; however, it is actions not words that define what you believe. This issue is about FREEDOM and nothing else. It is not the government‘s job to tell insurance companies what they must cover and it is certainly not the government’s job to tell people they MUST pay for something they do not want. This country exempted Quakers from the draft when there was one. Even today Old Order Amish do not have to pay Social Security Tax. Back when every kid pledged the flag, Jehovahs Witness’ did not have to. I know since progs have lost the abortion arguement in the public mind they are trying to scare women about birth control, but even the dumbest among us realize it is a strawman arguement. Birth control methods, devices, and pharmaceuticals are everywhere and will remain everywhere, but I should not be required to pay for yours just as you should not be required to pay for mine.

DesertRose, you wanted a woman’s voice, well here you go. As a devout Catholic (I hold a weekly adoration hour and i teach high school religion as well as attend Church) i must say that your comments struck me as very anti-Catholic. It doesn’t matter what religion one is, if the President can do this to the Catholics in an election year, what will he do to others if he gets re-elected? (i heard that from someone else but it is a valid point). If Catholics are FORCED to pay for “something” for “someone else”, and that “something” goes against our beliefs, we have lost our freedom to practice our religion. As to your statement about “a woman’s freedom to choose when she has a family and how big it is“ she does have that choice and as the ”devout Catholic” that you claim to be, you should know it is called natural family planning. As a “devout Catholic” you should also know that the Church teaches that contraception is wrong, as is abortion and we should not be forced to provide them in any way, shape, or form. And no, i do not use them. And since i am single, i am also celibate. Not that you needed to know, but i wanted you to know i follow and practice the Church’s teachings. If you proclaim to be a devout Catholic, you should be OUTRAGED at this, not only because we will be forced to pay for someone else’s stuff, but also because, if it continues, we will no longer be able to practice our religion. And if they take that, what else will they take fro

@desert If you were a true Catholic you would not believe the things you profess in your statement, that is as rediculous as believing that 98% of Catholics take birth control.

People have a choice to use contraception or the abortion pill, but it is wrong to force someone go against their religious doctrine. The next thing would be to make them pay for abortion etc.

The Athiest are relentless in trying to take us down, but I am proud and blessed to be a Catholic according to doctrine. Not a smorgasboard Catholic.

DesertRose said “No one smears their character if they buy condoms.” Um maybe that’s because they are buying them themselves. You can have all the friggin’ contraceptives you want, I don’t care if you take a 30 day supply once a day for 30 days, but you better be the one paying for it.

Don’t come on here being this self-righteous heroine for women‘s rights when it has nothing to do with women’s rights. If contraception should be given to women because it is a “right” then that means the United States should give every child born in the US a gun because it is a God-given right to us as citizens to keep and bear arms. Are you willing to pay for that right? I highly doubt it. What if contraception had never been invented would you have a right to it then? Don’t tell us that since it exists you can file it under the list of rights for Women.

1 Million women out of 300 million people use it for medical reasons and so we have to pay for every woman to have it? Are you joking? Get a job, cancel your cell phone plan and pay for it yourself you leech.

Oh, when we get that free gun from the government I will take a Springfield XDM .45, night sights, and either the all black or silver-black bi-tone.

First of allit is not a war against women. The Catholic Church leaders did not sit together in a back room and decide to piss off half of their parishioners. The government has no business deciding that it has the authority to ignore doctrine. The Catholic Church has maintained that and artificial means cannot be used to delay birth. In fact many Catholic men are probably equally as pissed off because this decision means that they can no longer enlist thier women to satisfy the man ANY time they they wish to be like. It means that they would have to get involved with charting their wife fertile times, that thet might have to take their wives out to a meal and a movie because-oh no-they LOVE them. They might actually have to make a committment, accept their wives as equal partners. As far as the diffference between Viagra and the Pill: one is Pro Life the other is definitely not Pro Life. If you don‘t like the chuch’s policy go to a Non-Catholic Hospital. If one doesn’t exist help start it up, Nine dollar/month is the cost of the Pill at Wal-Mart.

I keep reading that 98% of women that are of child bearing age use birth control . So it makes sense that there is no problem for women affording or having access to birth control. This is a straw man started by the lsm to distract from the attack on the constitution and religious freedom.

Why in the world would you want govt to tell you what you can and cannot do. Soon they will be enforcing sterilizations, abortions, infanticide. Make your own choice on contraception, keep it private, keep it away from the rest of us who do not need it or believe in it. What is wrong with you immoral, unchaste, impure, out of control freaks trying to make yourselves feel good by causing others to pay for your illicit needs. Don’t you have any respect for your own body that you cannot control what you do with it that you need others to collaborate with you sins just to make you feel better about yourself. Anyone with half a brain can see what utter nonsense your logic is. Just because you call yourself a devout Catholic doesn’t prove that you are. You should be ashamed of yourself for causing others into temptation away from the true teachings of the Church!

“If birth control pills were just considered medicine and covered as such by insurance companies, there would be no issue here.”
      ======================================================
if a woman has a medical condition that requires the use of birth control pills, it IS covered-a fact that the ‘Progressives’, MSM, and ‘cafeteria catholics’ choose to make a point of ignoring. the bottom line is that, under the First Amendment to our Constitution, the State cannot force a church to violate its own teachings and doctrine-that is called ‘prohibiting the free exercise’-period.

your argument that the church’s refusal to pay for the contraceptive choices of non-Catholics equates with denying them those choices is ridiculous on its face-i would like a new Mustang convertible-if you won’t buy one for me, are you denying me the freedom to own one?

you can CALL yourself a ‘devout Catholic’ all you like, much like Nancy Pelosi; however, if you go against the teachings of your ‘faith’, you‘re much like a cat that gives birth in a dresser drawer and demands that its offspring be called ’socks’

You are what is called ‘a cafeteria Catholic”. You choose the little pieces you will follow. Just because you have a very unhappy soul, it is wrong of you to spew hatred and blame to a group who, (the ones who really follow the apostolic traditions and the Bible) you love to blame for all sorts of things.
It would be better to have ones personal life with Christ in order than to spend your time castigating folks who you REALLY don’t know. It is obvious you haven’t read the teachings of the Church. Only going by ‘hearsay’ from what I can tell. If one has disgust in their heart, that is what they see in others. That is so sad.

If you disobey your Bishops, you are a Catholic in name only; and social conventions, not the teaching of the Church are your rule. What you say is in direct opposition to what our Bishops are all saying now and you are a dupe to those who would try to make this a women’s issue WHEN IT IS A CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUE violating the freedom of religion amendment which is the First not the twenty first amendment.

Most healthcare plans, including those offered by the Catholic Church, cover the medical use of hormonal contraceptives as long as a doctor is treating a real illness even though hormonal contraceptives are not always the best treatment for such illnesses. Those plans that fail to offer such coverage do not do so because of religious belief but because of the plan (some plans are extremely cheap). Next time, you might want to do a bit of research before haranguing the Church.
