Pro-Life Billboards Attacking Dem. Congressman Censored in OH

A self-described, pro-life Democratic congressman from Ohio has won an initial battle to keep an anti-abortion group from posting billboards that accuse him of voting for tax-funded abortions.
U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus says that the pro-life group the Susan B. Anthony List is lying about his record when it claims that by voting for Obamacare he voted for tax-funded abortions. Driehaus filed a complaint with the state elections commission to prevent the ad campaign, and on Thursday a three-member panel voted to allow the case to go to a full hearing in front of the Ohio Elections Commission.
Driehaus, who is facing Republican Steve Chabot, is basing his complaint on a criminal statute that makes it illegal to make “a false statement concerning the voting record of a candidate or public official.” Chabot previously held the seat but lost to Driehaus in 2008.
“The information is factually untrue and this is just another attempt by Steve Chabot’s supporters to spread false information,” Driehaus said Thursday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. “The Susan B. Anthony List is doing everything they can to attack pro-life Democrats, not because of what we achieved in the health care bill but because they’re partisan.”
“In an act of desperation and fear, Rep. Steve Driehaus is attempting to use a criminal statute to silence his critics,” Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser responded to LifeNews.com. “It is a fact that Steve Driehaus has voted for a bill that includes taxpayer funding of abortion.”
The Susan B. Anthony List is not the only one who believes that. According to a release on the group’s website, other prominent organizations agree:
The fact that the health care reform bill allows for taxpayer funding of abortion has been agreed upon by every major pro-life group in the country, including National Right to Life, Americans United for Life, Focus on the Family, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Dannenfelser tells LifNews.com that the only groups that support Driehaus’s claim to the contrary are the “partisan Democrats for Life of America and the splinter group, Catholics United.”
CNN’s Dan Gildorf wrote on his blog that the Ohio billboard case proves the abortion issue is an important one in this election, and framed the arguments of both sides:
Conservative groups allege that the healthcare bill funds abortion by allowing Americans to buy into government subsidized healthcare exchanges in which abortion is covered.
Progressive groups note that the bill requires abortion funding in such plans to come from private premiums. Conservatives have dismissed such claims of segregated funding as an accounting trick.
“At the very least one must conclude that the point is one of national dispute rather than one that comes under a criminal statute that is designed to punish blatant falsehoods,” Dannenfelser added.
For now, the billboards remain unpublished pending the Commission’s findings.

Posted on October 15, 2010 at 2:09pmI may be wrong both I think most people think abortion is a personal choice between a woman her Dr and anyone else involved in the pregnancy.
Since her Dr. is involved its health care.
Can we move on please?
Who should be paying for her health care is another issue entirely.

Posted on October 15, 2010 at 2:25pmYou are wrong. If the woman and her doctor opt for abortion the federal government is adamant that she get it, and no one else can consider themselves involved in her pregnancy.
No we can’t move on, either.

If a candidate asks for clarification of the wording, be prepared to give it to them, but also mention it‘s a shame they don’t know. Put them on the record.

The healthcare bill is so full of terrible legislation that the few good ideas in it are reduced to incentives (or bait really) for the socialist hook the bill really is. If you voted for it, you should be done for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which is the abortion issue.

Posted on October 15, 2010 at 1:48pmJerry Costello, Democratic Representative from the 12th District in Illinois, personally told my cousin that he WOULD NOT vote for the health care bill if it had abortions in it and he completely lied to my cousin, me and the rest of Illinois when he voted for the bill. The democrats came up with this paper lion of an executive order and then justified their voting against their word.
I would vote for my dog over Jerry Costello…my dog won’t raise my taxes, legislate the killing of the children of Illinois and the country or give whatever money is left to the Chicago machine and their union leadership garbage. To me, Sadie is an improvement however Sadie isn’t on the ballot!
Vote Teri Newman…she is not a whole lot better from what I can tell in my interactions with her, but she is a lot easier to replace in a few years through the vote than Costello…heck, by then we may not even have the right to vote him out of office at the rate that they are destroying our Constitution!!!

EO’s will be used to shut down all aspects of America IF Obama calls a National Emergency thus institutiong martial law. I suggest all do some research on EOs. As Glenn often says, blood will run out your eyes.

OBAMA can issue anything he pleases, but the sure and certain antidote for all Government Poison is a 190 grain BTHP at about 2950 feet per second.
IF, OBONGO were stupid enough to declare Martial Law, he has about one million LEOs and half a million U.S. Military Personell to TRY and CONTROL 300+ Million people. 75% of those people are absolutely helpless to sustain themselves without artificial support systems. They will die of starvation in 3 weeks. A few may last a bit longer by eating each other. Meanwhile, even if every fat slob with a badge remained loyal to the government, and every person in the Military sided with the Communists(and they won’t) they will have 10 to 30 million men with rifles hunting them 24/7s. And all the preparations have been long since made to continue to fight and eat for an unlimited length of time. The resultant Continentwide Internal Firefight will be beyond anything ever dreamt of on Planet Earth. Think of the D.C. Snipers several million times over, and all at once, everywhere.
So don’t get all excited about EOs from the Communistas. What is coming will arrive all the same, with or without, any declaration of Martial Law. The economy and the phony Federal Reserve Note will see to that.

One of the other ways the Obamacare bill allows for taxpayer funded abortions is by changing the way abortions will be reported. When the bills are sent out to Insurance companies they will have an innocent sounding name for the procedure so it doesn’t SOUND like abortion. And for those that only use a coded system, then the docs will be using a code that means “To save the life of the patient”. That’s not the exact wording but it gives you an idea of what they will be trying to get away with it.
