Pro-Obama Group Is Already Airing a TV Ad Jabbing Romney & Gingrich

WASHINGTON (AP) — Maybe President Barack Obama and his friends got tired of waiting for the 2012 campaign to start.
The early action was supposed to be in the competitive Republican primary. But the White House and its allies are meddling from the sidelines with a good cop, bad cop routine, hoping to exploit the GOP’s late start.
A pro-Obama group called Priorities USA is airing a TV ad in South Carolina that jabs Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, two of the best-known Republican contenders. The ad coincided with Romney’s visit to the state Saturday, his first since forming a presidential exploratory committee.
Obama keeps offering praise, which he knows can damage a candidate in a Republican primary, to Romney on health care issues and to Jon Huntsman for his service as the Obama administration’s ambassador to China.
Huntsman, a former Utah governor, also is considering running.
A safer strategy might call for Obama and his allies to stay quiet, save their money and let the Republicans bash each other. But the GOP rivals aren’t doing much bashing in their slow-starting contest. So Democrats are filling the void with ads and emails meant to divide the Republicans or at least annoy them.
Mischief is partly at play.
At a Boston fundraiser Wednesday, Obama credited Romney with helping to shape the Democrats’ 2010 health care law, which conservatives detest and Romney has pledged to repeal. As Massachusetts governor in 2006, Romney enacted a state law that, like the federal one, requires people to obtain health insurance.
Obama has offered winking praise of Romney before. But Democrats feel Gingrich gave them a new opening on the health care front when he called a recently passed GOP House bill “radical.” It would reduce Medicare’s costs and benefits over time and convert Medicaid to a state block grant program.
Gingrich‘s efforts to apologize and retract the comments have not stopped Democrats’ criticisms. The Priorities USA ad in South Carolina seeks to pit Romney against Gingrich, in terms neither will find flattering.
“Newt Gingrich says the Republican plan that would essentially end Medicare is too radical,” the ad says. It suggests it’s hard to know where Romney stands because he has neither criticized nor fully embraced the House measure.
Romney’s camp is firing back and using the pro-Democratic ad to raise money. Romney’s exploratory committee, in an email seeking donations, calls it “a misleading, negative attack ad.“ Romney ”will not allow these tactics to slow him down,” the email says.
Romney adviser Kevin Madden said the Democrats “are trying to be cute.“ But the South Carolina ad actually ”is a sign of weakness” from a president who wants to divert attention from jobs and the economy, Madden said.
Obama and his allies have little to lose by linking Romney to the Democrats’ health care law. If Republican voters accept the argument, they may nominate a less mainstream candidate who could prove weak in the general election.
If Romney is the nominee, he might have a harder time distinguishing his policies from Obama’s, complicating Romney‘s claim that it’s time to change leaders.
The Democratic National Committee maintains a barrage of “rapid response” criticisms of Romney, Gingrich, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and other GOP contenders.
“Tim Pawlenty: Uninspiring at Best,” said one DNC statement, based on portions of a Time magazine article.
Some Democrats question the wisdom of undercutting Pawlenty, Gingrich or any other Republican besides Romney, who many see as potentially the strongest contender in a shaky GOP field.
Bill Burton, a former Obama aide who heads the Priorities USA group, said there’s no point in trying to guess who the Republicans will nominate, and no point in waiting to hit the candidates’ weaknesses.
Romney “is a flawed candidate,” Burton said, “but he’ll be well-funded.”

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 11:29amDid you all see the ad that depicts Paul Ryan pushing the old lady over the cliff?? That kind of stuff is a disgrace!! And the bigger disgrace is that so many seniors think it is true. I AM A SENIOR, and am appalled at how many people, young and old fall for these total lies!! While working the polls another pollworker talked about how she just couldn’t afford anything if Ryan gets his way. I asked where she gets her news, and it was wherever she watches Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. I didn’t even know those were still on. Where do we start?? People are soooo misinformed.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 10:55amRomney needs to say that he was wrong about his health care stance in Mass. He is right in his position that each state should make it’s own way on this topic. In this country the federal government needs to butt out and leave things too each state. At least there might be some place for a small government type of person to live in with some freedom. Romney and all the other ones running need to understand that big government is not the answer. This country is broke and we need to cut spending a lot more than Ryan’s plan.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 4:43pmI don’t think Romney is perfect, but he is MUCH more than many other candidates and especially the man in the WH!!!
The healthcare in MA was because the PEOPLE of the state WANTED it! It was done by a STATE and NOT crammed down their throats by the federal gov’t. Romney has repeatedly said he is AGAINST the federal mandate of healthcare and would repeal it as soon as possible. Until then, all 50 states will get a waiver until the repeal is through the red tape. Everyone here needs to research and think for themselves and not pick up on everyone else’s criticism. If the people of the state of MA do NOT want that, then let them repeal it!!! MUCH easier on the state level. Let THEM figure out to get it right.
He has NOT said what Gingrich has said and trying to dig himself out of!! Mitt is very much free-market based!
I haven’t made my mind up yet, but after having realized there is NO perfect candidate right now…..Mitt’s history of turn arounds with companies and the Olympics, balancing the MA budget (before the health care work), is making “note” in my mind.
It would help our cause to be open minded, listening, researching and being patient with this process. We will need to UNITE to beat BHO, the MSM and the $$ of George Soros who will be doing all he can to keep in power!

I bought and read Audacity of Hope. It was difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything American.
Let me add a phrase he use to describe his attitude toward whites. He harbors a “COIL OF RAGE”. (His words not mine.)
THIS IS OUR PRESIDENT Is anyone out there awake?
Everyone of voting age should read these two books: Don’t buy them, just get them from the library.
From Dreams From My Father:
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”
From Dreams From My Father”I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my

From Dreams From My Father:
“There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white.”

I had never read these words before and am glad I did because it serves to deepen my conviction that I am not misguided in my total distrust of this villain we call President. I will be sharing these same words with others. Thank you for helping to further enlighten me. God Bless!

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 11:41amWhat I find interesting is how ‘they’ think they know how to steer the ship of 2012 in their direction by running attack ads.
Once again WE THE PEOPLE will make up our minds by making an educated choice (unlike those that blindly chose the mess we have in the WH) as we did in 2010! Carl Rove, Krauthammer, and the other ‘talking heads’ can say what they will to steer the ship too, but in the end, WE THE PEOPLE will cast our vote because of our own discovery of the candidate. Much of that candidates attraction will be their content of character!

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 12:07pmNo they can’t call the voter racist for voting for west…….or can they. Here is what is going to happen if republicans choose a black candidate (which I hope we do, because there are only two candidates worth voting for, and they are both black), they are going to make the candidate into a victim. They will say it is the racist Republicans just using the black candidate. Don’t you know that Republicans have to be racist, and could never truly like a black person……
I truly think the answer to this problem is to get a gathering of people and demand/ask West to run. If the people are showing outwardly that they want him to run before he decides, they can not say it was the establishment putting him in that position for gain.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 2:53pmDusty, I agree. Romney isn’t conservative. Gingrich is at best conflicted, too much time spent in leftist teacher’s lounges and not enough time in the real world. The more I see of Alan West, the better I like him, the dude rocks! Now all we have to do is figure out a way to get him to put his qualified a** in the race.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 5:19pmWhen the Rep candidate is finally chosen, he needs to create ads that replay all of Obama’s lies and distortions (in Obama’s own words of course). There is plenty of material out there from the last two years. People need to be reminded just how this guy lied to America and how he ignores the Constitution when it gets in his way of social justice. Keep on running the video of the Black Panthers outside the polling place in Philly, and then ask Obama and Holder why they actually became accomplices by refusing to indict those thugs. Let Obama bury himself by using his own words.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 5:26pmCase for West:
Voted AGAINST defunding Obamacare: Hmm, his argument is “it is pointless”. Well if it so pointless, why wouldn’t you just vote against it?
Voted FOR The Patriot Act Renewal: Hmm…..a constitutionalist voting for the patriot act? Seems rather anti constitution if you ask me.
Get real people, there is so many factors against West, one of the major factors is…..HE ISN’T RUNNING!

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 5:37pmMitt Romney is far more conservative than most everyone realizes. He is also far more competent than people perceive as well. If you ever notice in Primaries or polls Mitt Romney always does best where the people know the most about him. In a recent poll done by Bill O’Reilly that put Romney vs Trump which he won nationwide but the places where he absolutely crushed Trump were Utah and Mass. Why do you think that is? Because they both understand how competent that he is.
Another point is Utah is the most conservative state in the Union and if Mitt Romney were the RINO that many on here are accusing him of being there is no way that he would be getting over 70% support in Utah even though he is Mormon. They know John Huntsman jr. just as well and he only is getting 13% support.
Mitt Romney’s three pillars that he will govern by are:Mitt Romney’s three pillars: strengthen the economy, strengthen our security here and abroad, and strengthen our families. These are right out of the Ronald Reagan play book and are very conservative principles. If we truly want the best chance to defeat Obama we must get behind the best candidate that can do it and that is Mitt Romney.
This video is the best insight to Mitt Romney other than his book “No Apology” http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1661840169999707395#

Such events I have commented on as well in the past; look at the collective influence his grandfather has had upon the POTUS in the time when Kenya and those areas were subject to UK colonialism, and you will find the core of his hatered and loathing of all things English, American and Israeli.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 7:57pmYeah right. I think that the reason that West is not running is because he is fake. If he is FOR the patriot act extension and AGAINST defunding Obamacare then he is a black phony war hero. That is it, and that is not enough to save our country. Sorry man.

http://articles.cnn.com/2003-12-12/us/sprj.nirq.west.ruling_1_allen-west-iraqi-detainee-military-justice?_s=PM:US
He lost his cool, stuck a gun in a captives face and threatened to kill him, violating the Geneva Convention. Not a big deal you say? He was quietly removed from duty, sent to the US, and discharged. His time in the service was cut short because of this action and others that can be obtained under the Freedom of Information act. The guy was a loose cannon. So much so that the military got rid of him. Lot of smiles and an honorable discharge but the fact is the military deemed him unfit for command.

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 9:35pmGingrich was never a serious candidate. He’s just trying to sell books. Romney on the other hand, is the only candidate Republicans have. Too bad though, he is an “other” being Mormon which no self respecting TP bigot would vote for, not to mention the health care thing.
You’d think that given we have an evil President (Marxist, communist whatever) who has the single goal of destroying the country, enslaving the population and taking your guns (oops sorry that’s three goals), that anybody, even Palin, could defeat him.
Rest easy, Cain will easily defeat President Obama, given that Obama likely is the anti-Christ or something very close.

Posted on May 23, 2011 at 6:04amI could accept Gingrich but not Romney. Romney is a politician and shows signs of believing in the doctrine of Marx & Engels. Romney is most likely a liberal version of Mr Obama who is a Zealot when it comes to the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels. Most of the politicians were schooled in the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels, thats why they all appear to be the same. They may have a liberal allegiance to the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels, however all Political Science majors and the majority of Lawyers carry an allegiance to that doctrine. This is a fact that most people simply don’t understand. And this is the issue which causes the great divide between those who are not believers in the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels, and those who are. The tea party stands firmly against the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels.
Lets not forget that it was the believers in the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels who brought us the National Socialists in Germany, where they created a national health care system and used that system to euthanize over 6 million people. It was believers in Marx & Engels doctrine under Mau who killed several Million Chinese. It was believers in Marx & Engels doctrine under Stalin who killed several million people in Russia.
Now Mr Obama and his associates who all believe in the doctrine of Hegel – Marx & Engels want to transform (assimilate) this nation under that same doctrine (Hegel – Marx & Engels). Romney is Obama lite.
